Chapter 270 Sunrise over Golden Mountain

That little bit of snow-capped mountaintop was bathed in golden light.

Xiang Nanzhi slowly stood up, and blood gushed from her nose again. Her whole body ached, but she forced herself to stand up straight.

She argued for a long time, constantly telling Shen Shixun that she wanted him to take her to the western grasslands to see the golden sunrise on the mountains in winter.

He agreed, but he said he couldn't guarantee that she would be able to see it if he took her there; seeing the sunrise over the mountains was a matter of luck.

She was quite lucky, but he wasn't there to watch the sunrise over the mountain with her.

Xiang Nanzhi burst into tears, not caring whether her screams would attract the wolves. "Shen Shixun, you bastard, you're not even as good as a bastard."

"I gave birth to Tangyuan, give him back to me..." she said hoarsely, "Tangyuan is mine! He's mine..."

So when she said she was coming to Saigon to see him, he seemed especially happy. He even told her to tell her family when she arrived.

He wanted to take the child from her without lifting a finger.

He had planned this all along, and she even personally delivered the child to him.

Xiang Nanzhi raised her hand to wipe away her tears, not knowing whether the liquid on her face was tears or blood from her nose.

The golden sunrise on the mountain was beautiful, a truly spectacular sight. Xiang Nanzhi kept crying, and then, with a thud, she collapsed to the ground.

Xiang Jingyi and Xiang Ciyuan specifically sought out a Saigon person with experience in the grasslands to guide them. They found Jiang Yao last night, but still haven't found Xiang Nanzhi.

It was the first time for any of them to come to a place like this. Even grown men couldn't stand the high altitude and the unique and strange temperature difference inside Saigon.

Both of them looked pale and sickly. Xiang Ciyuan was on an oxygen tank the whole way, but he still couldn't stop his nose from bleeding. He used a crumpled piece of paper to plug the nostril that was bleeding, which looked ridiculous and laughable.

The Saigon locals, wearing large sticky hats, hesitated as they walked.

"There might be wolves ahead, I'm too scared to go."

It was already past noon, and Xiang Jingyi's bodyguards were only able to walk with oxygen tanks attached. At this point, let alone beating someone, they would probably have a hard time even catching a chicken.

Humans cannot fight against nature. Xiang Zhengyi had already made up his mind that Shen Shixun would definitely be able to communicate all the divorce matters and get Xiang Nanzhi to sign before she finished her postpartum period, and that was also for this reason.

When Xiang Nanzhi first went to Saigon to find Shen Shixun, they learned just how difficult it was to find someone in Saigon.

I never expected it to turn out this way.

The endless snow-capped mountains and grasslands, the weather alternating between overcast and sunny, the sun so bright yet the temperature so low, a gust of wind blowing in your face, with no trees to block it, feels like it's going to penetrate to your very bones.

"What did he say?"

"He said there are vultures circling over there, and vultures eat people."

"Vulture?"

The Saigon man went on to say a lot more, “He said that if a vulture appears and keeps circling, it means someone is going to die. Vultures will wait when someone is about to die, and then they will come over and eat the person.”

"Is someone up ahead about to die?"

"Perhaps it's an animal. Maybe. If a creature is about to die, vultures won't waste their energy attacking it. They'll just wait until it dies before going to eat it."

Xiang Jingyi wanted to go and take a look, but the terrain there was a bit higher, and it would be exhausting to walk there. Everyone was clearly out of energy, and Xiang Ciyuan was having the hardest time. He felt like his nose was about to bleed dry.

"Perhaps some animal is dying."

"Let's go take a look."

Xiang Jingyi was very persistent; the thought of his sister going to such a place late at night filled him with dread.

After climbing up, everyone was panting. Xiang Jingyi almost fainted, but when she saw the white shadow on the ground, her mind went blank. Completely forgetting that she couldn't breathe, she ran over, calling out, "Zhizhi, Zhizhi..."

The snow on the snow-capped mountain had melted. Xiang Nanzhi's face was covered in blood, his body was swollen and he could hardly breathe. Xiang Ciyuan took off his oxygen tank, and someone quickly came over and lifted Xiang Nanzhi onto a stretcher.

When Xiang Nanzhi woke up, she was in a hospital in the ancient city. Her swelling had just subsided, and she survived the day on intravenous nutrition.

It was already the next morning, and her memory was somewhat confused, but she could only remember one thing.

"Dad, where's Shen Shixun?"

I've searched everywhere for him, but I just can't find him.

Xiang Zhengyi sighed, "Dad will find someone to look again, don't worry, I will bring Tangyuan back."

Xiang Nanzhi's eyes welled up with tears. She had searched all night in the grassland, and then saw the golden sunrise on the mountain with her own eyes. Looking back, it felt like a dream.

“If I don’t sign the papers and don’t get a divorce, he will still be my husband. There’s no way he won’t come back.”

Xiang Nanzhi stopped blaming fate and slowly got out of bed. "From now on, don't interfere in my affairs, especially my affairs with him."

“He bullied you so much, and Dad just wanted to stand up for you.”

“He and I are husband and wife. No matter what, it’s between us. If my older brother doesn’t understand, how could you, Dad, not understand?”

——

On the other side, Xiang Ciyuan sat in Jiang Yao's ward for a long time. A trip to Saigon almost cost her her life. Jiang Yao's heart condition was already very sensitive to stimulation. Even when the altitude in Lathu was not high, she had already started to feel unwell.

Jiang Yao's physical condition was particularly poor, a fact that Xiang Ciyuan had known for a long time. He never expected that after so many years, not only would it not have improved, but it would have become even worse.

"You're up?"

"Where is Nan Zhi?"

"You should take your medicine first and worry about yourself."

There are dedicated doctors and nurses there to observe and watch over you 24 hours a day, so you can receive excellent care after you return home.

As soon as she was discharged from the hospital, she had to fetch food on her own whenever she was hungry, and there wasn't a soul around her.
