Chapter 361 Don’t Ask About Men’s Business
Inside the imperial prison.
The environment is dark, and even if the lights are on, they cannot illuminate every corner of the prison.
Tao Wanyin was waiting at the door, and she happened to meet Duan Mingfeng who came to handle the case. She knew that the emperor had transferred the power to try the case to him.
She asked without hope, but she didn't expect Duan Mingfeng to agree to her.
When did this cold-blooded Lord Duan become so reasonable?
Tao Wanyin walked in from the main gate with Chang Lu, her face full of shock, and followed Duan Mingfeng with the people from the prison department.
She looked carefully at every prison cell she passed on the way, and her face turned pale with fear at the sight of the half-crippled and dying prisoners inside.
Because in her mind, these people's faces all turned into the appearance of Prince Yong.
Tao Wanyin said in a trembling voice: "Master Duan, where is the prince?"
Duan Mingfeng's tone was as cold as the prison itself, and he said, "The prince is at the very back."
Tao Wanyin heard that people who committed serious crimes would be imprisoned in deeper cells.
The further they went inside, the louder the wailing and hoarse pleas for mercy became. Tao Wanyin stumbled and was helped up by the warden beside her.
Duan Mingfeng didn't pause at all and didn't even turn his head.
Finally, he stopped at the innermost part of the prison.
Tao Wanyin followed and saw a black iron door in front of her with a lot of rust on it.
Duan Mingfeng stood still and asked, "Key?"
The warden quickly handed over a bunch of brass keys on his waist.
Duan Mingfeng glanced at him and ordered, "Open it."
The jailer below took it with a look and unlocked the door.
After entering, Tao Wanyin saw a prison. It was empty inside with only a narrow straw mat for one person to lie on, and some coarse rice and leftovers on the ground.
The person inside was not lying on the straw mat, but was lying on the ground, groaning in pain.
Even standing here, Tao Wanyin could smell the stench mixed with the medicine.
Duan Mingfeng said gloomily: "Princess Yong, please."
Tao Wanyin looked at the person lying on the dirty concrete floor and covered her mouth in disbelief. Why did Prince Yong become like this? Her ears kept ringing and she bit her thumb to stimulate herself with pain so that she would not faint.
But she couldn't hold back her tears and murmured softly, "My Lord."
Duan Mingfeng didn't notice such a small sound, but someone who was sleeping soundly heard it.
He looked towards the door in confusion. The main door of the cell had been opened at some point, and there stood the person he had been holding in his arms in his dream.
"Wan Yin?"
Someone was calling her. It was Prince Yong's voice.
Tao Wanyin put down her finger and looked fixedly at the prisoner facing her. He lay motionless on the ground and showed no sign of speaking.
"Wanyin?! Why are you here again?!"
This one was much louder and more exciting.
Duan Mingfeng pointed to her left.
Tao Wanyin's gaze then turned to the innermost part of the prison, the bright place that did not look like a prison, which she had subconsciously ignored.
It was also a prison, but this one had soft bedding and pillows, and a square table with lots of food and drinks. It had everything you need, and it felt more like an inn.
Zhao Minghong jumped off the bed, his eyes brighter than the night pearls beside his pillow.
"Wanyin, come here."
Tao Wanyin no longer cared about her manners and ran all the way over.
Zhao Minghong saw her running and shouted, "Don't run! Be careful, why are you in such a hurry?"
Even though the layout inside didn't look like a prison, the two were still blocked by the cold railings outside.
Tao Wanyin looked him up and down from his hair to his feet.
"My Lord...are you okay?"
Zhao Minghong's eyes briefly left her and turned to the person standing at the door.
"Please ask Mr. Duan from the Imperial City Envoy to step aside. We are meeting as husband and wife and have some private conversations that are not suitable for outsiders to hear."
Duan Mingfeng glanced at Prince Yong without any emotion, then turned and left.
The warden's men stayed at the door and continued to guard it. Zhao Minghong turned his head and looked at Princess Yong with a different expression, his smile warmer than the candlelight.
"Okay, very good, look what's in there."
Once he entered the prison, he felt relieved. Emperor Wu Su still gave him a break and his detention was just a show for outsiders.
Prince Yong did not feel the crisis of being in the imperial prison at all. He rubbed the back of his head and said with a smile: "It's just that I can't see you, which is not good."
Tao Wanyin's eyes were getting redder and redder. Zhao Minghong wanted to cheer her up, so he said, "No, no, now that I see you, everything is fine."
After the shock, seeing that he was safe, Tao Wanyin relaxed and tears instantly flowed down.
"Don't cry, Wanyin."
Zhao Minghong panicked and wanted to reach out and wipe the tears from her face.
But the gap in the railing was too small, and with the size of his hand bones, he couldn't get out at all.
Tao Wanyin lowered her head, held back her tears, took out a handkerchief and wiped them, then pretended nothing had happened. When she looked up, she had regained her composure, at least from her appearance there was nothing wrong.
"Even if your Highness doesn't care about others when doing things, he should at least care about himself. I heard that the Queen Mother fainted from anxiety when she learned that your Highness was imprisoned in the Imperial Prison."
"The Queen Mother..."
Zhao Minghong said, "When I get out, I will go to greet you. You don't need to go to the Cining Palace."
The Queen Mother would not be kind to her as her daughter-in-law, and Prince Yong did not want her to go.
Tao Wanyin said: "I won't go. I'm not going anywhere. I'm going back to the palace now."
Zhao Minghong agreed immediately: "Go back quickly, this prison is not a place for you to stay."
Tao Wanyin didn't move, staring at his face and asked, "When will the prince come back?"
Zhao Minghong glanced at the prison on the right and frowned, saying, "The old man's life is saved. Once my brother's anger subsides, I can go back."
The person lying on the ground is...Su Fengyue.
Prince Yong was imprisoned because he was tortured too much. Tao Wanyin asked, "Why did the prince... treat Prime Minister Su so cruelly?"
Zhao Minghong replied: "I just don't like him. He is just an old man, but he wants to steal my Zhao family's kingdom. His crime is extremely heinous!"
"But, but I can't..."
When Tao Wanyin thought about what Chang Lu said, she felt that Prince Yong was too cruel.
Lingchi was used during castration, a torture never heard of in history books, and the target of the torture was a former prime minister.
Such a person is the one who sleeps by your side.
Zhao Minghong could accept anything now, except the slightest contempt on Tao Wanyin's face.
Even if it was only a slight pain, his heart was pierced with pain.
Zhao Minghong stopped smiling and chased her away.
"What can't you do? Don't ask about men's affairs. Go back to the palace quickly."
Tao Wanyin was stunned by his fierceness and slowly turned away.
But before he reached the door, the person lying in the cell suddenly made a sound, a dry and hoarse laugh, which was particularly creepy in the prison.
"Xiao Tao..."
