Chapter 425: Put me down, prepare water and undress
The highest-ranking military officer in the camp was Wei Ting. He endured the pain in his back and stood up.
"Reporting to the emperor, the Xijin bandits fired rockets and used hawks to throw fire, intending to burn our army's food and grass, but they have now been extinguished. So far, two granaries have been destroyed, and the loss of other food and grass is not serious."
Zhao Mingyan turned his horse and glanced at the crowd.
When he turned towards Ji Qingwu's direction, she lowered her head in panic.
Ji Qingwu was kneeling in the corner, and whether intentionally or unintentionally, Wei Ting covered most of her body.
The other half was also blocked tightly, and Li Chengxun happened to be kneeling in front of her.
The cold voice of Emperor Wu Su was heard above my head.
"What's the matter with your injury?"
Ji Qingwu almost thought that he was asking her. She sniffed and tears welled up in her eyes.
From the moment she heard his voice, her body and her mind fell into chaos.
Wei Ting replied: "I am fine, I was just hit by the burning pillar."
Zhao Mingyan looked at the wood that had been split by the knife and said, "Are you so careless?"
Wei Ting said: "I was busy putting out the fire and didn't notice it."
Zhao Mingyan nodded and said, "Go treat your wounds first."
Wei Ting bowed and said, "Thank you for your concern, Your Majesty."
Zhao Mingyan raised his whip and said, "You go back and rest first. In half an hour, gather the generals and come to my tent to discuss matters."
Then he rode past.
The sound of horse hooves clattered, and Ji Qingwu let out a sigh of loss.
He couldn't recognize her in her current state, and she kept her head down...
Ji Qingwu wanted to stand up with everyone else, but her knee was injured.
I had been running before and didn't feel any pain, but now after kneeling for a while and wanting to move, I found that my knees were so stiff that I couldn't bend them.
Suddenly, the neighing of a black horse was heard, accompanied by the exclamations of the soldiers.
Ji Qingwu looked in amazement at the horse hooves that suddenly appeared in front of him. The inky black hooves were covered with dead grass leaves and yellow mud.
She saw her own disguised reflection, distorted into ripples on the stirrup.
"look up."
The tone is as cold as ever.
Emperor Wu Su is back again. Did he recognize himself? Just based on her silhouette hidden behind people? Ji Qingwu couldn't believe it, his heart was pounding and he looked up.
Zhao Mingyan pulled the reins suddenly and turned around. Her cloak billowed like a night tide as she spun rapidly, and the golden dragon perched on the black armor appeared before her eyes.
When their eyes met, Ji Qingwu's eyes were sparkling with many indescribable emotions.
A large hand, roughened by the wind and sand from the Great Wall, suddenly reached out, palm facing up, with the fingertips just resting on the tip of her nose.
"Get on the horse!"
The voice seemed to contain a hint of anger.
Ji Qingwu grabbed the bag of millet seeds beside him and tried to stand up, but he couldn't exert any force on his knees.
There was silence in the military camp, and everyone's eyes were focused on Emperor Wu Su and the woman.
The black colt sensed its master's emotions and stepped on its front hooves restlessly, splashing mud that fell on Ji Qingwu's torn skirt, leaving dark brown spots.
Seeing her hesitating, Zhao Mingyan suddenly leaned over and grabbed her wrist.
The moment Ji Qingwu was dragged onto the horse's back, he burst into tears in pain.
The war horses galloped away from the granary on the east side.
Wei Ting's clenched fist sank into the mud and he coughed up blood. Li Chengxun went to help him and saw that he was tightly grasping the long headscarf used to bandage his wound.
Li Chengxun sighed and said, "General Wei, why are you doing this..."
Mo Ju rushed straight to the main tent of the military camp, and the soldiers along the way moved to the sides.
Ji Qingwu's back was pressed against the coiled dragon on the black armor. The patterns of the dragon scales hurt her, so she quietly moved her waist forward.
But she did not escape the eyes of the person behind her. The horse suddenly sped up, and she could only lean back firmly into his arms again, tightly pressed against the cold and hard black armor again.
Ji Qingwu was complaining in his heart, but fortunately the military camp arrived soon.
Li Yuzong was waiting at the door of the tent. He saw from afar the emperor riding a horse towards him with a woman on his horse.
He rubbed his eyes. Was he seeing things? Where did this woman come from?
Li Yuzong walked quickly to the front of the horse and said respectfully, "Your Majesty, you are back."
Zhao Mingyan dismounted and threw the whip to him.
"Prepare some water."
Hearing this order, Li Yuzong stared blankly with the whip in his hand.
It's broad daylight. Do we need to prepare water at this time?
He secretly looked up at the woman on the horse and saw that she was plain-looking with charcoal ash on her face. She didn't look like someone who could catch the emperor's eye.
"Go quickly!" Zhao Mingyan scolded coldly.
"Yes, I'll go right away." Li Yuzong quickly lowered his head, bowed and walked away.
Zhao Mingyan turned around and found Ji Qingwu still sitting on the horse, and his brows slightly frowned.
"dismount."
Ji Qingwu pursed his lips but still didn't go down.
There were soldiers guarding in all directions at the main tent door. Although they did not dare to look directly at the emperor, Ji Qingwu knew that their ears must be listening to the sounds from this side.
The tears that Ji Qingwu shed when Emperor Wu Su pulled her onto the horse had dried up.
Because she also participated in putting out the fire, her face was covered in ash and traces of tears were clearly visible.
Her hands were pinching the tattered hem of her skirt, making a sound as soft as a mosquito's hum.
Zhao Mingyan couldn't hear clearly what she said, but he saw that her eyes were slightly red and there were traces of tears on her face, and his heart softened.
He sighed and strode forward.
"You want me to hold you?"
Ji Qingwu looked up in surprise, and met his deep eyes. She shook her head hurriedly.
That's not what she said.
She just wanted a horse stool. With the stiffness of her knees now, if she forced herself to get off the horse, she would probably fall in public and be embarrassed.
Ji Qingwu shook his head.
But Zhao Mingyan had no intention of asking for her opinion. He stretched out his long arms, lifted her waist and carried her off the horse.
Ji Qingwu exclaimed and subconsciously grabbed his collar, not forgetting to take the bag of millet seeds.
Zhao Mingyan's black armor was cold, but it made her cheeks hot. His eyes fell on her broken and bloody hands, and a deeper wrinkle suddenly appeared between his eyebrows.
With so many soldiers watching, Ji Qingwu protested in a low voice.
"Put me down..."
Zhao Mingyan turned a deaf ear and strode into the military tent with her in his arms.
In the center of the tent was placed a huge sandalwood desk, on which were piled military newspapers and maps. Next to it was a bronze lampstand. In one corner of the tent was a weapon rack, on which were placed swords and bows and arrows.
Zhao Mingyan carried her to the soft couch beside the table, put her down, and began to undress her.
Ji Qingwu thought that she was still in her disguise as Chunhua. She pulled at her clothes, hunched her shoulders and asked, "Your Majesty, what are you doing?"
Because of the injury on her hand, Zhao Mingyan did not force her, and said simply: "Take off your clothes."
Even though Ji Qingwu had guessed that Emperor Wu Su had most likely recognized her, she still minded being stripped of her clothes by him in front of such a stranger's face.
She held his right wrist, her eyes flickering as she asked, "Your Majesty, why did you bring me back to the tent?"
