Chapter 5: Being robbed by the second female lead

After struggling for most of the day, Bai Jing finally got on the train to the north city.

After two days of crowding, the two finally arrived at the North City, which was already a little cooler.

Qin Yang's house was allocated by his unit and is located on the third floor of a small building in the staff quarters.

His wife Liang Xinrou is the deputy editor-in-chief of a literary magazine. She has shoulder-length hair that is slightly curled. She dresses appropriately and has a dignified demeanor.

The couple has a son, Qin Shaole, who just turned five years old, and their nanny Xue Gui is responsible for taking care of his daily life.

Bai Jing greeted several people generously.

Liang Xinrou was actually dissatisfied when she heard her husband say that he wanted to bring someone over to live with him for a while.

However, Bai Jing's generous and decent behavior now does not show any trace of her poor relative.

Liang Xinrou forced a smile and said politely.

"You must have had a hard time on the road. Have a drink of water and take a rest first."

...

...

Bai Jing took the cup of water and thanked him obediently.

The living conditions here are much better than she imagined.

The spacious living room was furnished with a set of leather sofas, a black dial telephone on the side table, and a good-quality mahogany coffee table in front.

Directly opposite the sofa is a combination cabinet of the same color, on which is placed a black and white TV and a tube radio. Bright lights are projected down from above, making it look very high-end, atmospheric and classy.

There is also a sewing machine next to the cabinet, and the table next to it is piled with various finished and semi-finished products, which is enough to show the hostess's love for it.

But no matter how good the conditions are, it is still someone else's home.

Bai Jing’s goal has always been clear.

She had finally made it to North City from the village, and if she couldn't pass the entrance exam in a month, everything would go back to square one.

Qin Yang and his wife still had work to do, so they returned to their respective units after lunch.

Aunt Xue took Lele for a nap while Bai Jing was packing her luggage in the next room.

She didn't have much stuff to begin with, so she packed it up in no time. Then she said hello to Aunt Xue and said she was going out for a walk to get familiar with the environment.

Bai Jing has a good memory and a good sense of direction.

After she came out of the staff quarters, she walked along the road while memorizing the surrounding location information.

After walking for an unknown amount of time, Bai Jing stopped.

In front of me is a spacious tree-lined avenue, on which young students are walking in groups of three or four, with youthful vigor on their faces.

They were either hurrying along with books or magazines, or chatting in low voices with their companions. Occasionally, they would pass by a student on a bicycle, ringing the clear and melodious sound of the bicycle bell.

At the end of the road is a tall stone archway with four large characters engraved on the top in a sharp and majestic manner.

Watteau University.

Bai Jing was dazed.

In the original book, Huadu University is the best university in the country.

She wanted to be assigned to a good unit after graduation, and of course, BGI was her first goal.

That's right.

She remembered that the book mentioned that there was a new commercial street near Huadu University with a variety of individual shops, including a Wanxiang Bookstore that sold a variety of study materials.

Bai Jing asked someone for directions and soon arrived at the door of the bookstore.

As soon as she entered the door, the aroma of ink hit her in the face.

There were a lot of people in the store, and two large electric fans on the side were turned to maximum power, sending out gusts of cool breeze.

Bai Jing saw that the clerk was too busy to deal with anything and probably had no time to pay attention to her, so she simply went through the rows of shelves herself.

Higher education exam… Question summary… Review outline…

Got it!

Just as she was about to reach out to take it, a hand suddenly reached out from the side and took the review materials away first.

Bai Jing raised her eyelids and looked to the side.

The person who came was a girl of about her age, wearing a floral dress with a lotus leaf collar, the latest crystal sandals, and a delicate small shoulder bag. There was a bit of arrogance between her eyebrows.

"What are you doing?" The girl looked a little unhappy when she saw Bai Jing looking at her. "I saw it first."

When the clerk heard the voice, he hurriedly walked forward with a smile and enthusiastically recommended it.

"Miss Lan, we also have a summary of the exam questions from previous years. Would you like to take them along?"

"Well," the girl raised her chin, like a proud peacock, "then take it with you."

Bai Jing raised her eyebrows slightly when she heard this address.

Miss Lan.

There should be only one in this book.

Because she couldn't marry the male lead, the second female lead, Lan Tingting, went against the female lead in both open and covert ways and eventually became mentally ill.

Lan Tingting took out two brand new bills and was about to ask someone to pay her the bill, but she noticed that Bai Jing was looking at her strangely, so she immediately spoke up.

"What are you looking at? Do you want to snatch it from me?"

She was just a woman who would go crazy sooner or later. Bai Jing didn't want to have too much interaction with her. She turned around and found another clerk to ask if the review outline was still in stock.

"Review outlines have been selling well these days," the clerk replied, flipping through the record book. "Wait two days for restocking, or you can look for something else first."

Bai Jing thanked him and planned to come again in two days.

After that, she walked around the neighborhood for a while and didn't go back until it was getting dark.

As soon as I got downstairs, I met my uncle who was coming back from get off work. He was carrying two heavy bags in his hands. I offered to help.

Qin Yang smiled and handed one of the bags to her.

"That's great. I was planning to give it to you later. Just take it."

"For me?" Bai Jing blinked and asked curiously, "Can I open it and take a look now?"

"Why not?" Qin Yang smiled kindly, "By the way, check if there's anything missing, and your uncle will make it up for you."

Bai Jing took the bag, opened it and took a look, and found that it contained a brand new and complete set of review materials, including the review outline that she had not bought just now.

It was obvious that it was prepared for her long ago.

Bai Jing tightened her fingertips gently.

She raised her head, her expression firm and serious.

"Thank you, uncle. I will definitely do my best."

Seeing her positive attitude, Qin Yang couldn't help showing a gratified expression on his face and said yes repeatedly.

However, he had seen Bai Jing's transcript before, and it seemed that her performance was just above average in the village. It would probably be difficult for her to pass the entrance exam for Beicheng High School.

The school only gave us one month to prepare, and the test was a comprehensive paper covering all subjects, so it could be said that the time was tight and the task was heavy.

Qin Yang thought for a while and suddenly spoke.

"Jing girl, how about I hire a tutor for you?"

Bai Jing was stunned and shook her head, "How can I be so embarrassed? You have already helped me a lot..."

"Why are you so reserved, kid?" Qin Yang patted her shoulder and said with a smile, "Just concentrate on your studies and study hard for the exam. If you have any difficulties, just tell your uncle."

Bai Jing thought so too.

The most important thing for her now is to pass the exam.

Once she gets into university and gets assigned to a good company after graduation and has a stable job and income, it won't be too late to repay the other person's kindness.

So Bai Jing nodded slightly.

"Then I'll trouble you."

When it comes to excellent academic performance, students from Huazhong University of Science and Technology are undoubtedly the best.

The people who know Hua University students best are definitely the teachers who teach there.

The next day happened to be a day off, so Qin Yang made an appointment with Jiang Ziqian and visited him with some gifts.

After a brief greeting, he directly stated his purpose.

"...That's what happened," Qin Yang said with a smile, "Do you have any students to recommend?"

Jiang Ziqian took a sip of tea, his eyes unclear.
