Chapter 276 Saving Her with a Severed Arm

Zhou Jiuzhen's pupils shrank suddenly, and broken gasps escaped his throat as he struggled to climb toward the edge of the cliff, but Qin Jinshen held him down firmly.

"Impossible? See for yourself!"

Qin Jinshen suddenly grabbed his hair, forcing him to look down into the bottomless darkness below the cliff.

"Such a deep cliff, such a steep wall, how could she survive? It's all because of you! If you hadn't insisted on jumping off the plane, if you hadn't insisted on being with her, she wouldn't have died!"

Every word struck Zhou Jiuzhen's heart like a heavy hammer. He coughed up a mouthful of blood, which splattered onto his pale hand.

The image of Ling Huanwu's terrified state as she fell off the cliff flashed before his eyes, and his heart felt as if it were being torn apart.

Before Qin Jinshen could speak again, Zhou Jiuzhen suddenly burst out with strength and broke free from his restraints. His eyes were empty but filled with determination as he leaped off the cliff.

Qin Jin was so shocked that he reached out to grab it, but only managed to grab a piece of clothing. He watched as the male protagonist's figure was instantly swallowed by darkness. After a moment of stunned silence, he kicked the gravel on the ground and cursed, "Madman."

But he couldn't hide the fleeting shock in his eyes.

He never expected that the male lead would actually risk his life for the female lead.

The wind whistled in his ears. Zhou Jiuzhen closed his eyes, waiting to fall into the darkness at the bottom of the cliff with Ling Huanwu.

The feeling of weightlessness from falling didn't last long before, out of the corner of my eye I suddenly caught sight of a bluish-black rock protruding from the middle of the cliff under the moonlight.

What made his heart clench even more was that half a piece of off-white cloth was hanging on the edge of the rock, which was the cuff of the shirt that Ling Huanwu used to wear!

"Huanwu!"

He suddenly opened his eyes, and the instinct for survival instantly overwhelmed the thought of dying for love.

Upon noticing a clump of gnarled shrubs hanging beside the protruding rock, Zhou Jiuzhen immediately turned around, gripping the cold branches tightly with his right hand. He didn't care that his palm was bleeding from being scratched, and used the momentum to swing violently, staggering as he landed on the protruding rock.

The protruding rock was no bigger than a square table, and beneath its feet lay bottomless darkness.

Zhou Jiuzhen steadied himself and then saw that there was a cave hidden inside the rock. The cave entrance was narrow, but the top was open to the outside, making it wider at the top and narrower at the bottom, like a gaping mouth on the cliff.

He didn't dare to delay, and crouched down to crawl into the hole.

The cave walls were all rough limestone, the sharp edges of which scratched my arms painfully. The further down I went, the more cramped the space became. Eventually, I had to turn sideways to touch the damp stone walls with my fingertips, and not even a breath of wind could get in.

"Huanwu, Huanwu!" he whispered, his heart pounding as if it would shatter his ribs.

Suddenly, following the moonlight filtering in from the cave entrance, they saw that Ling Huanwu was stuck in a narrow crevice at the bottom of the cave, blood seeping from her forehead, her eyes closed, and she was already unconscious.

Zhou Jiuzhen's heart clenched instantly.

He tried to get closer, but found that the cave at the bottom was too narrow for his size to fit through.

It was clear that Ling Huanwu had slipped into the cave and, due to gravity, her shoulder got stuck inside.

Zhou Jiuzhen called Ling Huanwu's name again and again, but she never responded.

He didn't know if she had been knocked unconscious by a head injury or by lack of oxygen in the cave, and he was extremely anxious.

Suddenly, Zhou Jiuzhen realized something and clenched his fist.

The cave has a strange shape, and it is stuffy and damp, much like the hibernation nest of a python in the mountains.

He tried many methods, forcibly squeezing into the cave below. His shoulders were scraped raw and bloody, but he still couldn't get down into the cave. The stone walls on both sides blocked his movement.

What made him even more uneasy was that the stone wall his fingertips touched was not the usual coldness, but rather carried a strange warmth, as if... it had been warmed by something.

He didn't even dare to think about what would happen to Ling Huanwu if there really were pythons lurking underground and she blocked the cave.

In his haste, Zhou Jiuzhen turned around and repeatedly dug at the stone wall with his fingertips, trying to widen the cave with his hands.

The people below looked as if they were stuck in a narrow crevice, completely still.

Zhou Jiuzhen was in so much pain that he wanted to die immediately.

But he can't die; he has to save her!

Cold sweat mixed with blood dripped down Zhou Jiuzhen's forehead. The warmth at the bottom of the cave became more and more obvious. With each second he wasted, his panic intensified.

If we wait any longer, let alone the python, the lack of oxygen alone will be enough to make Late Autumn suffer.

He gritted his teeth and retreated. Under the moonlight, the protruding rocks on the cliff face were sharply defined, gleaming with a cold, hard light.

Without the slightest hesitation, Zhou Jiuzhen took a deep breath, turned around abruptly, and slammed his left shoulder hard into the sharp corner of the rock!

One, two, three...

I don't know how many times it was bumped.

Until a crisp "crack" sounded, the excruciating pain instantly spread from my shoulder to my entire body, as if countless knives were gnawing at my bones.

Zhou Jiuzhen groaned, his vision blurred, but he bit his lip tightly to keep himself from collapsing.

My arm hung limply at my side, numb, with only warm blood flowing down my sleeve, quickly soaking half of my clothes.

He used his uninjured right hand to support himself against the rock wall and staggered back to the cave entrance.

With his severed arm no longer supported, it could bend and lie flat against his side. The narrow hole that had been causing him excruciating pain now provided just enough space for him to pass through.

Finally, he managed to reach Ling Huanwu's side by breaking his own arm.

Ignoring the excruciating pain in his shoulder, Zhou Jiuzhen trembled as he tightly wrapped his right arm around Ling Huanwu's waist, pulling her toward him.

His severed arm occasionally brushed against the stone wall, and the excruciating pain made him tremble all over, but he dared not relax. With only a fierce determination, he dragged the person out of the narrow crevice little by little.

The moment Ling Huanwu's body was completely detached from the stone cave, Zhou Jiuzhen could no longer hold on and fell down on the protruding rock with her in his arms.

He was panting heavily, looking down at the person still unconscious in his arms, blood still flowing from the broken shoulder.

But he seemed relieved, gently brushing away the stray hairs on her forehead with his only remaining right hand, his voice hoarse, "Huanwu... it's alright now, I'll take you out."

The protruding rocks on the cliff were only big enough for two people. Zhou Jiuzhen held Ling Huanwu in his arms, pressed his uninjured right hand against his bleeding broken shoulder, and stared intently at the top of the cliff.

A chilly wind swept by, and he knew he couldn't wait any longer.

Huanwu was still unconscious, and he was bleeding almost out.

Taking a deep breath, Zhou Jiuzhen endured the excruciating pain and roared towards the top of the cliff: "Qin Jinshen, come down here right now! Huanwu is still alive!"

Qin Jinshen, who was on the cliff top, was slumped on the ground, clutching one of Ling Huanwu's shoes that he had picked up from the edge of the cliff, and crying his heart out.

He had assumed Ling Huanwu was long gone and would never see him again, but then he heard a familiar voice calling from the bottom of the cliff. He looked up sharply and asked, "Who? Who's calling?"

"It's me! Zhou Jiuzhen!" Zhou Jiuzhen's voice trembled, but it was exceptionally clear. "Huanwu was stuck in a cave in the cliff, but I rescued her! Send people down quickly!"

Qin Jinshen was startled and scrambled to the edge of the cliff, looking down.

Under the moonlight, two figures could indeed be seen huddled on the protruding rock.
