As dawn broke and the sky began to lighten, a helicopter pierced the silent morning sky with a deafening roar.
On the helicopter, Zhou Jiuzhen's eyes were sharp and his expression was cold as he looked down. Beside him stood a group of fully armed soldiers, each with a serious expression, ready to engage in battle at any moment.
Guided by the men Qin Jinshen had sent, they sped toward the small island where Qin Jinshen was located.
On the other side, the atmosphere in Qin Jinshen's small villa was as tense as a taut bowstring.
Qin Jinshen paced back and forth in the room, glancing out the window every now and then, his eyes filled with anxiety.
He waited all night, but the person he sent out to pick up Qin Zhizhi never returned, and he became as anxious as an ant on a hot pan.
He was filled with regret, wishing he hadn't sent Qin Zhizhi to the mountain camp out of fear of arousing Ling Huanwu's suspicion.
Now that his plans have been disrupted, he absolutely cannot abandon Qin Zhizhi and set off.
"Listen up, all of you!" Qin Jinshen abruptly stopped and loudly ordered his men, "Assemble immediately and follow me to the mountain camp to bring the young lady back!"
The men sprang into action, grabbing their weapons and assembling to await orders.
Just as Qin Jinshen was gathering his men in the hall, he suddenly felt a chill. Sensitive to the touch, he instinctively turned to the side, and a bullet whizzed past his ear.
Qin Jinshen's heart skipped a beat. He turned around abruptly and saw Zhou Jiuzhen leading soldiers outside the small villa through the window.
Their eyes met in mid-air, and Qin Jinshen looked completely astonished.
He never expected that Zhou Jiuzhen would be so resilient. Despite being so badly injured, he was able to get up immediately and his marksmanship was so accurate.
"Shoot!"
Qin Jinshen roared and fired the first shot in retaliation.
The two sides instantly engaged in fierce fighting, with gunfire and shouts of battle echoing all around.
Bullets flew, smoke filled the air, and neither side gave an inch as the battle reached its climax.
Just as the battle was raging fiercely, suddenly, a strong wind arose, and sand and stones flew everywhere.
Everyone turned around and froze in place, startled by the sight behind them.
They saw waves hundreds of meters high crashing down on them, making them look tiny.
The waves were like an angry beast, ready to devour everything in the world.
Everyone was stunned by this sudden disaster.
Then came a deafening crash of waves hitting the ground.
After a brief silence came desperate cries and terrified screams.
As the colossal wave crashed down, carrying rubble and broken logs, the salty seawater instantly washed over their ankles, and the color drained from everyone's faces.
It's a storm surge!
Zhou Jiuzhen and Qin Jinshen swam towards the second floor where Ling Huanwu was imprisoned almost simultaneously, leaving two messy trails of water behind them.
Zhou Jiuzhen's left arm was fixed with a wooden board. The excruciating pain at the fracture site caused cold sweat to seep from his forehead, but he could only use his right arm to paddle. Every movement aggravated the wound, and blood mixed with seawater spread a pale red hue on his side.
He stared at Qin Jinshen's back in front of him, his throat tightening.
Regardless of past grievances, the two had only one thought in their minds at this moment: to rescue Ling Huanwu.
Qin Jin was familiar with the room layout. He was the first to plunge into the seawater that covered the windows. His fingertips fumbled for the key in the cold water. The moment he felt the metallic touch, he almost trembled as he inserted it into the lock.
The resistance of the water flow made unlocking the door extremely difficult. He gritted his teeth, turned the key, and with a soft "click," pushed the door open forcefully.
Seawater rushed in through the cracks in the door, and the room was already flooded. No one could be seen in the murky water.
Qin Jinshen's heart sank.
He groped around in the water, his fingertips only touching the edges of the furniture, and panic instantly gripped his heart.
"Impossible..." he roared in the water, but his voice was swallowed by the sea, leaving only bubbles of despair.
It was his hesitation that ruined Ling Huanwu. If he had sent his sister away earlier, if he hadn't trapped Ling Huanwu here, how could things have turned out like this?
Zhou Jiuzhen then swam into the room and, seeing Qin Jinshen's distraught state, calmed down instead.
He guessed that Ling Huanwu must have quickly hidden herself in the space before the storm surge arrived.
Zhou Jiuzhen grabbed Qin Jinshen by the collar and dragged him in front of him. The pain from his severed arm made his voice tremble, but it was filled with an undeniable ruthlessness, "Stop playing dead! Where have you locked my brother up?"
Qin Jinshen was pulled back to his senses, and the despair in his eyes instantly turned into rage. He shoved Zhou Jiuzhen aside and punched him directly. "You still have the nerve to ask your brother? Release my sister first! Otherwise, even if you find Huanwu, I won't let you get away with it!"
The two wrestled in the murky seawater. Zhou Jiuzhen used his right arm to block, and the wooden plank loosened during the fight. The intense pain made his vision go black, but he still clung to Zhou Jiuzhen tightly.
Qin Jin's eyes were bloodshot, and every punch he threw was filled with a desperate, do-or-die mentality. His mind was filled with thoughts of his sister and Ling Huanwu's whereabouts.
Neither of them noticed that at that moment, in the corridor on the other side of the building, Ling Huanwu was half-dragging the weak Zhao Jingxiang, struggling to swim towards them.
She had originally intended to hide in her personal space to avoid the first wave of flood, but the sound of fighting made her abandon the idea.
Once she enters the space, the portal will malfunction during floods, and she can only exit after the flood recedes.
So, taking advantage of the floodwaters rushing into the room, Ling Huanwu used the buoyancy to swim out through a small window above the wooden door, and swam to the room where Zhao Jingxiang was being held, which she had previously observed, and rescued him.
Fortunately, she arrived in time; Zhao Jingxiang almost lost his life there.
Since the last storm surge, Ling Huanwu has overcome her fear and studied swimming with Lin Xiaoqin for a long time.
This time it finally came in handy.
Ling Huanwu led Zhao Jingxiang all the way to the roof of the small villa. Looking at the vast expanse of water outside, she was filled with shock.
In the previous life, this nameless island was never submerged by storm surge.
This is also why Qin Jinshen dared to come back here to stay temporarily.
Ling Huanwu couldn't understand why the storm surge would change direction and submerge the small island, nor could she predict whether the storm surge would submerge Wantan Island as it had in her previous life.
All she wants now is to get back to Wantan Island immediately.
Zhou Jiuzhen and Qin Jinshen fought from inside the house to outside, their battle fierce and evenly matched.
At the same time, the two saw Ling Huanwu and Zhao Jingxiang sitting on the roof of the small villa.
"Huanwu, come to me!"
"Huanwu, don't move, I'm swimming over to find you!"
Qin Jinshen and Zhou Jiuzhen spoke up in unison.
Seeing Zhou Jiuzhen swim towards Ling Huanwu without hesitation, he was momentarily dazed.
Suddenly, he understood why Ling Huanwu liked Zhou Jiuzhen but not him.
It turns out that Zhou Jiuzhen's love for Ling Huanwu was always something he took the initiative to do.
However, he repeatedly coerced Ling Huanwu to come to him in the manner of a superior.
With bloodshot eyes, Qin Jin watched as Zhou Jiuzhen and Ling Huanwu embraced. He gritted his teeth and ordered his still-living subordinates, "Go, drag Zhou Shuyao's body out of the basement!"
