Zhou Jiuzhen gripped Ling Huanwu's hand again, took a deep breath, and, as Ling Huanwu instructed, pushed his spatial power toward the silver light rift.
In an instant, the two spatial light barriers collided, emitting a blinding light.
The originally narrow gap gradually widened, turning into a light gate that could accommodate two people walking side by side. Behind the gate, one could vaguely see the familiar pool of spiritual spring water in Ling Huanwu's space.
"Everyone, keep up!"
Zhou Jiuzhen hugged his wife tightly and turned to shout to the crowd.
The soldiers cleared the way, and the villagers helped each other as they walked step by step through the portal of light.
Ling Huanwu walked at the back. The two of them turned around and glanced at the space that had saved them, then looked at the two hands that were tightly clasped beside them. Tears fell from their eyes once again.
The last villager stepped through the portal of light, and the barriers between the two spaces slowly closed.
Zhou Jiuzhen was at the warehouse entrance when he saw the four children sleeping soundly on the bed inside.
At a glance, she spotted the smallest little girl in the far corner.
He tiptoed inside and looked at the little girl on the bed, who was about a year old and had pigtails and a beautiful, delicate face. Tears streamed down his face.
"she is……"
Zhou Jiuzhen choked up and couldn't speak.
Ling Huanwu picked up the sleeping child and placed her in his arms, puffing out her cheeks as she said, "My daughter has been born for so long, and I've been lying to her father that I've been buying her candy. It took you really long to go to buy candy!"
"I think it must have been because you brought her with you that you were able to break through the barrier between the two spaces. You should reward her properly when you get back!"
Zhou Jiuzhen held the sleeping, rosy-cheeked baby with obvious affection.
The soldiers outside were already terrified by the identical space and urged, "Commander Zhou, let's go home and get some comfort with our wives and kids. This place is really creepy..."
Zhou Jiuzhen and Ling Huanwu exchanged a glance, feeling somewhat guilty.
He echoed this, saying that the space must have been brought here by the spirit of Mazu, which was consistent with what Ling Huanwu had said before.
No wonder the villagers and soldiers were somewhat afraid.
Everyone helped lift the triplets.
Everyone gathered together.
With a thought, Ling Huanwu skillfully led everyone back to Wantan Island.
And finally, after those days of seclusion filled with longing for their loved ones, they returned to the real world where they could feel the sunlight, and returned to the cave where they had disappeared.
After a year and ten months without seeing their relatives, the villagers walked out of the cave and looked at the familiar village with smoke rising from it at the foot of the mountain. Their eyes were all red.
Their legs seemed to be powered by motors; they ran frantically down the mountain.
An elderly woman with white hair sat at her doorstep, holding her little yellow dog. Her hands, as dry as tree bark, stroked its fur repeatedly, while her eyes drifted towards the mountains, as if wondering what her rascal had looked like when he left home.
As she was lost in thought, the face of her son, whom she had been longing for day and night, appeared before her eyes, as if in a daydream.
It wasn't until the old woman's hand touched her eldest son's warm face and a long-lost "Mother" fell to the ground like a fluttering feather that she realized this was not a dream.
On such an ordinary evening.
The mother who lost her son has a son again.
The children who lost their father have found a father again.
The entire island was filled with increasingly loud wailing, which was drowned out by the churning sea not far away.
When Zhou Jiuzhen hurried home to his family compound, he happened to bump into Ling Huanwu, who was carrying Xiao Nianjiu out of the house.
Their eyes met, and the brief separation felt like an eternity.
When Ling Huanwu came out of the space, she found that the hand that had been holding Zhou Jiuzhen's was empty, and her hand was trembling uncontrollably.
In such a short time, she forgot that they would remain in the place where they originally entered the space after they left.
In the courtyard, the sunflowers beside the two swayed gently in the sea breeze.
The moment the two embraced tightly, Xiao Nianjiu in their arms woke up.
"Dad...Mom..."
The child's sweet, innocent voice seemed to come through a glass enclosure.
Zhou Jiuzhen and Ling Huanwu both pursed their lips and lowered their heads, tacitly leaving a sweet kiss on each of the child's cheeks.
Before Xiao Nianjiu could even take another look at her real father with surprise, her parents kissed her so much that she turned into a pouty "little meat bun".
The triplets surrounded their uncle and aunt, clapping their hands and excitedly shouting, "We have an uncle again!"
The sounds of laughter and joy drifted far, far away on the sea breeze...
The following year.
A wedding was held again on Wantan Island.
Ling Huanwu put on the phoenix coronet and wedding robes her mother had left her in the warehouse, and appeared on the drying ground covered with a red carpet in a red dress.
Zhou Jiuzhen, also dressed in red, couldn't get enough of looking at Ling Huanwu as she gracefully walked towards him.
He finally fulfilled his dream from two years ago and truly married the woman he loved.
Xiao Nianjiu and her three cousins foolishly listened to Qin Zhizhi and followed behind their mother, scattering flowers together. They said they were flower girls, just to give their mother a grand and unforgettable wedding.
Just as the second auntie was trying to liven things up by saying "Send them to the bridal chamber," and everyone was clamoring to make a ruckus in the bridal chamber, the postman suddenly appeared at the wedding.
The three postcards featured Wantan Island on the front. Two were given to Ling Huanwu, and one was given to Zhou Jiuzhen.
Before Zhou Jiuzhen and Ling Huanwu could even look at the postcards in their hands, they were pushed into the bridal chamber by the villagers.
At the bedside, the villagers teased the couple with bright red apples, making them eat until only the husks were left, before they were satisfied and left the bridal chamber.
The four children were also taken out. The moment the door closed, the two people inside the room stole glances at each other like a newlywed couple, their faces blushing shyly.
