Qin Jinshen was knocked to the ground by Zhou Jiuzhen, his vision blurred, and he couldn't get up for a long time.
Guard Ma sat bolt upright, staring at his motionless boss on the ground. With a loud cry, he rushed over, picked him up, and burst into tears. "Master... what happened to you? Wake up! I told you to eat more, to eat more, but you insisted you couldn't eat. Now look what happened! That lion crashed into you, and you're dead! Waaaaah..."
Ling Huanwu, who had just come to her senses after being in a daze, heard the commotion outside and was terrified to see her former child-foster husband lying unconscious by the door.
"Comrade Er Gou, are you alright...?"
Ling Huanwu anxiously patted the man's face on the ground, trying to wake him up.
Guard Ma turned pale with fright and shouted, "Stop hitting him! You...you have to give him CPR right away!"
"Yes, yes, yes!"
Ling Huanwu then came to her senses.
He thought to himself, "This Uncle Zhao Ergou really knows a lot."
She immediately pressed down on the man's chest and yelled at his uncle, "Hurry up and give your nephew CPR!"
Guard Ma pointed to himself, his pupils trembling, and hurriedly waved his hands, "I can't, I can't..."
He started crying again as he spoke. He had originally thought that if his boss couldn't be saved, he could at least fulfill his boss's dream of kissing his sweetheart.
But now...
Guard Ma glared fiercely at the heartless woman before him, then bent down, closed his eyes with a look of resignation, and pouted as he leaned closer to his boss's ashen lips.
What are you doing?
Qin Jinshen suddenly opened his eyes and was met with the magnified, rugged face of his own guard captain. Startled, he dodged to the side, and the guard fell to the ground, his first kiss thus given to the simple and unadorned earth.
"Hoo..."
Qin Jinshen turned away and vomited violently.
The thought of almost kissing one of his subordinates who hadn't brushed their teeth in months made him so disgusted that he threw up the sweet potatoes he ate that morning.
Guard Ma wiped the ash from his lips. Seeing that he was awake, he immediately hugged him and cried with snot and tears streaming down his face. "Master, thank goodness you're alright. Otherwise, how would I have survived if you had left me alone on the island!"
Qin Jinshen pushed him but couldn't move him. He then noticed that Ling Huanwu was looking at the two of them hugging each other with a meaningful expression. Qin Jinshen was so embarrassed that he dug his toes, which had no toenails, into the ground.
"My second uncle and I have a very close relationship..."
Ling Huanwu's suspicious gaze lingered on the two of them for a moment before she nodded, smiled, and helped him up.
"Are you starving? I heard from your second uncle that you usually don't eat lunch. Is it because you're not used to the food on the island?"
As she spoke, she casually stroked his palms and fingers, and was surprised to find that his hands, despite being from the countryside, were even more delicate and smooth than hers.
After entering the house, Ling Huanwu busied herself with cooking at the stove.
Qin Jinshen sat on the bench, his hand, which had just been touched by Ling Huanwu, loosened and tightened repeatedly.
He took a deep breath, trying to control his heart which was pounding in his chest. He beckoned with his finger and whispered in the ear of the guard, who was still blowing his nose, "Go and find out what's wrong with Zhou Jiuzhen this time, that he's come looking for your sister-in-law!"
Guard Ma wiped away his tears, nodded, and put on a fierce expression again. He shoved the cured meat in his arms into Qin Jinshen's hands, "Alright, sir, I'll go investigate right away. Just leave me a bowl of meat when I get back..."
After saying that, he ran off in a flash, afraid that if he was too slow, there would be no meat to eat when he came back.

The next day.
Office of the island troops.
Political Commissar Hao was so shocked when he received the divorce report from Zhou Jiuzhen that his glasses fell off his nose.
"You want a divorce? Isn't that ridiculous?"
"I thought you and your wife were living a very happy life before, so why are you getting a divorce so easily? Besides, military marriages are sacred and inviolable. How could you do this?"
Zhou Jiuzhen frowned, somewhat helplessly. "Political Commissar, it's not that I want a divorce, but my brother says my wife has someone else in her heart. You know my brother doesn't lie."
“But you’re right. I’ll go back and talk to that capitalist lady. Since she has someone else in her heart, I’ll set her free.”
"If she doesn't want a divorce, then I can only be loyal to my family. Actually, what I love most is the army..."
"Also, Political Commissar, how could my son Shuyao possibly be a spy? He was a model child who wore his red scarf every day when he was little. I will definitely find out who's behind this..."
Political Commissar Hao looked at Zhou Jiuzhen's incessant chatter with disdain, sighed, and took out cotton from the drawer to plug his ears.
He had seen Zhou Jiuzhen at eighteen years old.
When he first arrived at the army, he was like a newborn calf, fearless and stubborn. He was so arrogant that even the big yellow dog at the gate of the army camp disliked him.
But later, I don't know what happened, but in just five years, he became a cold-faced leader whom everyone in the army respected and kept at a distance, a gourd with its mouth sawed off, unable to utter more than three words a day.
now.
Political Commissar Hao stood up and pushed the 1.87-meter-tall "18-year-old" giant, who was still rambling on and on, out of the office. "Come on, come on, they'll find out about your brother's matter themselves. The higher-ups are coming to inspect today, let's go to the dock to greet them..."
Just as the two reached the door, Guard Wang rushed in, shouting, "It's terrible! Regimental Commander, Political Commissar, the Army Commander's ship has arrived at the dock ahead of schedule!"
Zhou Jiuzhen sighed and scolded, "The army commander is here, so let's go and greet him! Why are you making such a fuss!"
Guard Wang wiped the sweat from his forehead, almost crying. "But Commander, your father-in-law, mother-in-law, and sister-in-law are kneeling on the dock right now, holding a banner and accusing you of favoritism!"
This news was like a bombshell.
