Chapter 59 Carrying Water Three Times in One Night

Chapter 59 Carrying Water Three Times in One Night

Zhou Jiuzhen curled up like a shrimp while hugging his pillow, and then burst out laughing.

But he quickly regained his composure and returned to normal.

Ling Huanwu was shocked.

I've never seen this beast-like man smile before.

She seemed to have found the switch to tease him out of control, and her other hand had already quietly slipped into his waist: "You should be punished for falling asleep before me."

The moment her fingertips touched Zhou Jiuzhen's lean waist, Zhou Jiuzhen felt as if he were burning up, and the corners of his lips on his face were tightly pursed as if he was suppressing and enduring something.

Warm breath sprayed onto his wrist, mixed with the sweet scent of oranges.

Zhou Jiuzhen finally couldn't resist the tickling and turned over to scratch her waist.

Ling Huanwu screamed in surprise, and in the struggle, she accidentally tore off the hair tie from her head.

Her jet-black, seaweed-like hair cascaded down her snow-white, smooth shoulders, like a gentle night sky.

"I was wrong, I was wrong!" Ling Huanwu begged for forgiveness with a smile, but her pink fingertips secretly hooked onto his ticklish sleeve.

Zhou Jiuzhen froze instantly, their noses almost touching.

Her eyelashes were even damp with tears of laughter.

The tears on her cheeks trembled gently in her smile, and the temperature of their intertwined breaths gradually rose, hotter than the evening breeze in June.

"Wife, may I take your clothes off?"

Zhou Jiuzhen spoke frankly.

Ling Huanwu lowered her head in embarrassment, "Do you have to ask me about this? You decide for yourself."

“Oh, right,” she added, not daring to look up at him, “I want to go to sleep early!”

Zhou Jiuzhen responded with a sound of agreement, his tone suggesting he didn't quite understand.

Ling Huanwu wasn't sure if he understood her, and was still clutching the blanket, unsure whether to explain it to him, when she caught a glimpse of the man's burly figure reflected on the wall as he undressed, like a ferocious beast baring its fangs and claws. She was so frightened that her whole body trembled and her legs went weak...

I spent a sleepless night.

It wasn't until morning that Ling Huanwu's wet eyes gradually regained focus.

She stared at Zhou Jiuzhen, who was carrying in sweet potato porridge, and his radiant appearance only fueled her anger.

"Huanhuan, get up. I made you a fried egg."

Zhou Jiuzhen turned around and met Ling Huanwu's resentful gaze, completely unaware that he had already angered her. He walked towards her with a smile on his lips.

"Don't move, I'll carry you over to eat."

Seeing him approach, Ling Huanwu could no longer contain her anger and kicked him.

"I told you to go to bed early last night, but you didn't listen at all!"

She was so angry that her chest trembled, but before she could vent her anger, her ankle was grabbed by the man's hand, which was as big as a fan.

"Didn't you fall asleep later?"

A rare hint of grievance appeared on Zhou Jiuzhen's resolute face; he really couldn't understand what his wife was angry about.

As the saying goes, absence makes the heart grow fonder.

But they had just been apart for a short time and were now newlyweds, so how could he possibly control himself?

He looked at his wife, who was sitting on the bed with her cheeks puffed up and flushed with anger, and his hand gripping her ankle seemed glued to her, unwilling to let go.

Ling Huanwu cursed inwardly, thinking to herself that she hadn't actually fallen asleep last night; she had clearly fainted!

She rubbed her forehead, watching the man opposite her gaze at her ankle gradually become unfathomable. A wave of fear washed over her, and she hurriedly struggled to pull her foot back...

outside the house.

The women from the residential compound went out to fetch water and gathered around the well to chat.

"Did you hear that last night? It was incredibly noisy coming from Commander Zhou's room."

“I not only heard it, but I also saw it. I was having trouble sleeping yesterday, and I saw Commander Zhou carrying water home in the middle of the night. He went back and forth three times in one night.”

"Wow, that stamina is no joke..."

The group chattered amongst themselves, completely unaware that Song Yaoyao, standing to the side, was deathly pale and swaying precariously.

Song Yaoyao instinctively retorted loudly, "How could that be? Isn't Zhou Jiuzhen impotent? How could he make a racket in the middle of the night and fetch water three times in one night?"

She spoke louder and louder, grabbing an older woman and demanding, "Did Ling Huanwu say that? She's really exaggerating!"

This reaction startled the aunties around them.

"What? Who would dare say something like that? By the way, Yao, why are you so agitated?"

"That's right, Yao, who told you that Commander Zhou is no good? If Commander Zhou hears this, he'll yell at you and send you flying several meters!"

The aunties chattered amongst themselves, all staring at Song Yaoyao with strange looks.

Normally, Song Yaoyao gave them the impression of being very gentle and speaking softly; they had never seen her so hysterical before.

Song Yaoyao's head was buzzing, and ignoring everyone's stares, she ran straight to Zhou Jiuzhen and Ling Huanwu's little house.

Just as he reached the front of the house, before he could catch his breath, he heard Zhou Jiuzhen's cold voice coming from inside.

"Don't worry, I won't touch you. I'm not interested in that kind of thing. From now on, I'll only use my energy to build up the island!"

Then came the sound of a man's heavy footsteps approaching.

Song Yaoyao quickly hid to the side, and saw Zhou Jiuzhen come out with a cold face and walk away briskly.

Seeing this, she breathed a sigh of relief.

It seems the commotion last night was caused by a fight between the two.

She said, "How could those two possibly be rolling around together?"

One is spoiled and only knows how to spend money, the other is indifferent and rigid and only knows how to build; it's no wonder they can't get along!

As soon as Song Yaoyao came out from the corner, she met Ling Huanwu's fierce gaze as she came out of the house.

What are you doing here?

"Oh, I came to see if the vegetables in front of your house have sprouted yet, sister! Oh dear, they haven't sprouted!"

Song Yaoyao spoke sarcastically, but her gaze fell on the bruise on the woman's wrist, and her smile deepened.

It seems that Ling Huanwu was beaten terribly by Zhou Jiuzhen.

Seeing her suspicions confirmed, Song Yaoyao's bad mood vanished instantly. She sauntered away, humming a tune as she held her belly in her hands.

Ling Huanwu was completely bewildered. Her body was already aching as if she had been run over by a car wheel, yet Song Yaoyao was still bouncing around in front of her. If it weren't for the fact that she was currently pregnant and knew that Song Yaoyao would leave after giving birth, she would have loved to pick up a broom and beat her up.

And then there's Zhou Jiuzhen. He says he's completely uninterested in that kind of thing, but last night he was the one pulling her along, coaxing her to do it again and again.

He's stiff all over, even his mouth is stiff!

So, every evening...

Ling Huanwu always blew out the lamp early, not giving him any chance to succeed.

As expected, Zhou Jiuzhen kept his promise and huddled in the corner at the appointed time, looking every bit the chaste and virtuous man, as if he were afraid of being defiled by Ling Huanwu.

Ling Huanwu was speechless. Seeing that he was such a big man and still so serious, she couldn't be bothered to try and win his favor.

The primary task now is to grow the vegetables.

For several days in a row.

Ling Huanwu would sometimes get up in the middle of the night and squat in front of the door to see if the loofah seeds had sprouted.

Then I went to the back of the yard to check if the spinach seeds had sprouted.

On the sixth day, with only two days left, there was still no movement in the field.

Ling Huanwu sat on a rock behind the courtyard, somewhat dejected, staring blankly at the empty fields until dawn.

A series of dark shadows loomed over her head.

Ling Huanwu raised her eyes.

Then Song Yaoyao arrived early with several aunties to witness this barren land where no miracle had occurred.

"Where are the seedlings? They're still just soil!"

"I told you not to mess around if you don't know how to grow vegetables. Now you're covered in mosquito bites. I heard that Commander Zhou spends all of his monthly salary on ointment at the clinic. What a waste."

"Stop talking nonsense. Since she lost the bet, hurry up and make Xiaoqin take out the money and divide it up!"

"Aunt Wang is really unlucky to have married such a spendthrift wife!"

The air was filled with malicious mockery. Just as Ling Huanwu was wondering where things had gone wrong, a furious shout came from behind her, startling the chattering aunties who had just been talking at once.

"Who are you calling a spendthrift woman?"
