Chapter 1: Traveling Through Time
"Woooo ...
The sharp cry of a baby pierced his eardrums, and he felt a shaking sensation under his body. Shang Wan frowned slightly and slowly opened his eyes.
The azure sky and the white clouds as pure as cotton came into view. She was stunned. There were actually blue skies and white clouds in the apocalypse!
Didn't she die in the zombie apocalypse? Could this be heaven?
Her head suddenly felt a sharp pain, and a wave of memories that did not belong to her flooded into her mind.
Shang Wan blinked slowly and quickly figured out his current situation through his memory.
She traveled through time, and this was not the end of the world, but an ancient time similar to the Zhou Dynasty that she had seen in documentaries.
The original owner of this body was also called Shang Wan. She was the daughter-in-law of Sanlang Lu, a wealthy man in Dongning County. She had a daughter and was not liked by her in-laws.
Yesterday, the husband of this body was imprisoned for poisoning the county magistrate. The Lu family was worried about being implicated, so they called a meeting of the elders overnight and deleted the original owner's family of three from the family tree. From then on, they had nothing to do with the Lu family.
Mr. Lu ordered the housekeeper to kick the original owner out of the Lu family along with the children, not even allowing them to pack up their valuables. In other words, they were kicked out with nothing.
Shang Wan curled the corners of his lips. No matter what, being alive is a good thing.
She propped herself up and found that there was a shabby cart lying under her. No wonder it was shaking so much.
The man pulling the cart in front and the woman walking beside her holding a swaddled baby obviously didn't notice that she had woken up and were talking in low voices.
"The young lady keeps crying, and no matter how I comfort her, it's no use. When will the young lady wake up?"
"The young lady has always been weak, and she was pushed against the stone lions just now. There's a walnut-sized bump on her forehead. I'm afraid she won't wake up for a while."
Shang Wan raised his hand and touched his forehead. Sure enough, there was a big bump. No wonder he felt a headache.
She subconsciously used spiritual spring water for treatment.
A drop of transparent water flowed out from her white and tender fingertips and fell on the swelling. It disappeared in an instant and the pain was gone.
If you look closely, that patch of skin seems to be whiter and tenderer than the surrounding skin.
Shang Wan looked down at his white fingertips which were bare.
Good news: her spatial ability is still there, and the healing effect of the spiritual spring water is as powerful as ever.
Bad news: The level 10 alien force shrank, not only did the space become smaller, but everything she stored in it was gone, and there was very little spiritual spring water, only about five or six drops.
"Ah, young lady!"
Hearing the exclamation, Shang Wan looked up and saw the swaddled girl staring at her with her eyes wide open, in surprise and joy.
It was Xiaohuan, the original owner's personal maid.
"Young Madam, you're finally awake!" Xiao Huan trotted over excitedly and looked at Shang Wan's forehead with concern. "Your injury... eh?"
Where did the walnut-sized bag go?
The sudden rise in tone due to surprise frightened the baby in the cradle, and the crying that had originally weakened became louder again.
"Wow wow wow wow wow..."
Xiaohuan quickly rocked the swaddling clothes and coaxed the baby softly.
The man pulling the cart stopped and turned around, staring at Shang Wan fiercely with eyes as sharp as knives.
This guy seems to be her cheap husband's servant, named Shitou. He is quite fierce despite his young age.
"Why are you staring at me? Don't you want your eyes anymore?" She wasn't the one who was going to cuckold his master.
Shang Wan would not suffer for nothing because of the problems left by the original owner. A fierce light flashed in his eyes that was inconsistent with his appearance.
Shitou was stunned by the sudden burst of murderous energy from Shang Wan. Was this still the same delicate and weak young lady who would only cry and whine when faced with trouble? How could she have become a completely different person?
He clenched his fists and said angrily, "It's all because of you, Young Master, that this happened. Why wasn't it you who was thrown in jail?"
"Shitou!" Xiao Huan, unable to comfort the crying child in his arms, hurriedly shouted, "How dare you talk to the young lady? Apologize to her immediately!"
"I'm not wrong!" Shi Tou pursed his lips stubbornly and turned his head away.
"Young Madam, Shitou accidentally said the wrong thing out of concern for the young master's safety. Please be magnanimous and forgive him this time." Xiaohuan quickly pleaded for Shitou. "You were pushed down and hit your head by Butler Liu. Shitou almost rushed forward to fight Butler Liu, but it was he who found the cart and dragged you all the way here."
These were things that happened after the original owner fainted, so Shang Wan naturally had no idea about them.
She looked at the purple scars on Shitou's cheek and thought that the young boy had a very weird personality.
"I don't bother with children."
Shang Wan waved her hand generously, and Shitou turned around and glared at her angrily. When Shang Wan looked over, he quickly retracted his glare and pressed his lips almost into a straight line.
Shang Wan laughed secretly. Was he frightened by what she had just said?
Hearing the baby's cries become hoarse, Shang Wan leaned over to look at her in confusion, "Why is she crying all the time?"
The one-year-old baby girl clenched her fists, opened her mouth with only two small teeth and cried at the top of her lungs. Her little face, which was less than the size of a palm, turned red and tears flowed out like water.
It really is a small body with big energy.
"Young Madam, please hug the young lady." Xiaohuan looked at Shang Wan eagerly, her eyes full of pleading.
The young lady always disliked the young lady because she was a girl, and never held her unless necessary, let alone coaxed her. But the young lady loved to stick to the young lady, and would stop crying as long as the young lady held her and coaxed her a little.
Shang Wan stared at his adopted daughter.
In the apocalypse, cubs were rare treasures, the hope of mankind. She had only seen them, but never held one.
It's such a small and soft ball. What if I can't control the strength and hug the person to death?
Shang Wan was just struggling with her thoughts when the little baby girl reached out her chubby little hands towards her, crying. Her big, watery, dark eyes stared at her with admiration, and she mumbled, "Liang... Mother..."
Who can withstand this?
When Shang Wan came back to her senses, she had already held the little guy in her arms, controlling her strength very carefully, and rocking him gently like Xiaohuan coaxing a child.
Strangely enough, the little baby girl stopped crying as soon as she was in her arms. She looked at her with eyes like black grapes and smiled at her with her little mouth, with saliva flowing down the corners of her mouth and falling on her little bib.
Shang Wan couldn't help but raise the corner of his lips slightly, and gently poked the little girl's soft tofu-like face with his fingers, "Yuanyuan is so good."
Yuanyuan was the nickname the original owner gave to his adopted daughter.
Although the original owner didn't like this girl, her father and the wet nurse took good care of her and raised her to be plump and fair.
Yuanyuan seemed tired of crying. She closed her eyes and fell asleep with her chubby fingers in her little mouth. There were still a few tears hanging on her thick and long eyelashes.
Seeing this, Xiaohuan breathed a sigh of relief. She looked up and saw Shang Wan's gentle expression. She didn't reach out to take the child back, but whispered about her and Shitou's plan.
Now they certainly couldn't go back to the Lu family, but the place where Lu Chengjing recuperated as a child was still there, where the three of them could stay temporarily.
Three hours later, Shang Wan looked at the thatched hut in front of him, which was swaying in the wind and was about to collapse. He narrowed his eyes and said softly, "Is this the Feng Shui treasure land you mentioned?"
