I
Ella Zero arranged everything, turning the room into a laboratory. Several sophisticated instruments were lined up, and she pulled Sivers over to input code.
Hesitant for a moment, Sivers screamed.
"Keep working, keep working!"
She snapped out of her daze and pressed confirm.
The message "Importing Brain Gene Information" appears, indicating that the program has started running.
She had a little time to calm down.
If only Siphus would be quiet too.
As the mechanical sound started, she remembered how the doctor had taught her step by step when she first debugged the instrument.
“Ella, you’re so smart, just like her.” The doctor kissed her forehead.
The doctor would only kiss her like that when he was extremely happy.
She sat down to the side, and Sivers started screaming again.
"My God! Unbelievable! You actually dared to take a break!"
She rubbed her forehead.
She also personally shaped Sivers' language characteristics. Since the house was quiet and no one talked much, she said she wanted Sivers to talk more.
After showing the doctor her debugging results, the doctor simply smiled and said, "It is indeed interesting."
The doctor had said she hoped they could get along like other mothers and daughters. She had met several aristocratic ladies whose mothers always looked at their daughters with doting eyes, praising them with lavish compliments no matter how small their achievements.
She stood obediently beside him, waiting for the doctor to kiss her forehead.
But this time she didn't wait.
-
The program displayed a notification.
"The program is about to enter an irreversible import process. Please connect the chip."
-
Later, she saw the doctor even less often. One day, the doctor returned with a cold face and looked at her with a complicated expression.
“Darling, I’m afraid I’ll have to arrange some work for you.”
The doctor stroked her hair.
“I’m willing to work, Mom.”
If work makes Mom happy.
She didn't move, and Sivers started screaming again.
She stopped Sivers, but unexpectedly, she also turned off Sivers' jammer. At that moment, the communicator on her waist vibrated.
These were dozens of messages from Gu Yan.
After restarting, Sivers continued his incessant urging, pressing the next button amidst Sivers' impatient calls.
The entire screen glowed with an eerie red light.
"Please confirm again that this step is irreversible."
The following sentence is bolded and enlarged.
She still pressed the confirm button.
"Start the countdown, 10, 9, 8..."
A countdown device was pressed into the cramped space, and a cluster of dark shadows flickered for a moment before disappearing like ghosts.
"3, 2, 1".
A loud roar.
The power was immense; even where Ella Zero was located trembled like an earthquake, and the screen continued to shake as it gradually covered the area.
20%, 23%...
Siphus's voice pierced through the roar, as if he were singing along with an accompaniment.
25%, 29%...
The shaking became more and more violent, and she could barely stand. She supported herself on the control panel with one hand to maintain her balance.
A group of fully armed men approached, and the doctor hesitated, only to be pulled away by David.
"Wait... Ella, she..."
The group didn't linger; they headed for the conversion room.
The doctor watched helplessly as they continued to assemble the strange black box at the doorway.
"Doctor, over here." David and Ella's embedded execution systems are similar, prioritizing Dr. Lowry's safety above all else. This moment is no exception.
Another explosion occurred, leaving only Siphus, who was completely unresponsive and buried under rubble, in the conversion chamber.
Ella Zero casually flicked away the dust that had enveloped her and pulled Siphus out.
Siphus's eyes flashed red a few times.
They were shouting as if in a final burst of energy before death.
"Work...work...job..."
It has completely stopped operating.
"We can't wait any longer."
Dr. Lowry composed himself, covered his cheeks with his hands, and murmured, "Get the other deployments ready."
The progress bar on the screen was interrupted, and the connector was hanging precariously in mid-air.
Ella Zero surveyed her surroundings, her keen ears picking up the roar of a pneumatic saw coming from behind the heavy sliding door.
"How much longer?" The voice sounded impatient.
"It depends on how thick the door is."
The armed man wielding the pneumatic saw shrugged, looking indifferent.
"It's too late. She's very shrewd; she's probably already run away."
"There's only one exit. Run? Where can she go?"
With tremendous effort, the heavy-duty sliding security door was cut in half, and the loud crash and the rising dust obscured the view.
As the dust settled, two soldiers in heavy protective suits squeezed in.
"See, I told you so."
The ripped wiring hung precariously, and the room was completely silent.
"It's a ghost."
The man turned and left, cursing under his breath.
...
"The good news is that they haven't received any information about Ella."
"In other words..."
"That means Ella isn't in their hands."
The doctor shook the remaining ice in the glass, still not letting his guard down.
"Where is Siphus?"
"Most of them were taken back by them, but the report shows that the chips have been removed—just a pile of scrap metal."
The doctor raised his thin chin.
"Ella is the one who makes my life easier, I've always known that."
The doctor's tone softened noticeably. She rubbed her temples, looking slightly tired, and said, "Then let's go. If there's any news about her, or if she tries to contact me, be sure to let me know immediately."
"Please rest assured, Doctor. I will report back to you about Ella's situation as quickly as possible."
...
“I’ve checked it all. This place has been badly demolished. This is not something she could have done by herself.”
Yang Guang inspected the area and decisively came to this conclusion.
What are you holding?
He noticed the extra item in Gu Yan's hand.
Gu Yan raised his hand and waved it, "You've done the repairs, so you should know more about it than I do."
"That chattering big-faced guy?" Yang Guang leaned closer.
It was a small piece of scrap metal, and judging from its current state, it was clearly not disassembled in a very peaceful manner.
"The demolition was carried out violently, and there are traces of gunpowder. It seems there was a tough battle here."
Yang Guang wiped the dust off the metal sheet and found it was residual gunpowder fragments.
"Using such primitive firearms, I guess this is a covert operation. None of the guys in the federal military's arsenal who need to be reported for use can use it."
Gu Yan pondered.
"If you successfully escape capture, where will you go next?"
"Are you so sure she escaped successfully?" Yang Guang raised an eyebrow; his brother seemed to have an excessive amount of confidence in that person.
Gu Yan lifted her eyelids to glance at him and kindly explained.
"If she had really fallen into the hands of the Federation, you would know it now."
Yang Guang scratched his chin.
"That's true. If they really succeed, it will be a great achievement, and there's no need to hide it like this."
He tried hard to think about the questions Gu Yan had raised.
"If I manage to escape... I'll definitely hide in a safe place first and plan my next move."
"Then where do you think is a safe place?"
Yang Guang has been replaced by scratching his head.
"this……"
"They're gone."
Gu Yan tossed the metal piece into his arms.
"She's gone already? Do you even know where she is?"
"Only someone with your IQ wouldn't be able to guess that."
Yang Guang reacted quickly this time.
"Speak properly. Why did you suddenly start swearing?"
"You've been chosen?"
The two bickered, but they still had to walk on their own two legs.
The pulse orbital still wasn't working. Yang Guang was full of complaints. But when Gu Yan brought him back to his base, he was dumbfounded.
"Dude, are you two playing dumb with me?"
"Have you spent too little time with her? You just need to try to understand her thinking like a human would. The Federation has already searched this area, and for now, it is indeed the safest place."
Yang Guang was speechless. He easily made his way back to his base.
The moment he pushed open the door, a chill ran straight to his head.
A cold blade pressed against his neck.
"Let's talk this out, don't be impulsive."
"Is it you?"
The cold temperature had left, and Ella Zero's voice sounded slightly hoarse.
"You seem to need some help?"
No, I don't need it.
"Okay then, call me anytime if you need anything."
Yang Guang crossed his arms and stared in disbelief at the scene before him.
"Are you just going to drop the matter like this?"
"Investigate what?" Gu Yan asked, his eyes filled with confusion.
"Investigate what??" Yang Guang repeated his words incredulously.
Look where they're standing now? He doesn't consider himself a good homemaker, but this little shabby place used to be at least reasonably tidy, right?
"You'll be dragged down by her sooner or later, so don't drag me down with you then."
He rolled his eyes and instinctively tried to slump onto the sofa where he used to live, but the spot was empty. He then realized that the Federation people had overturned the place.
He clicked his tongue, feeling even more annoyed.
Neither of them paid any attention to the mess on the floor. Gu Yan casually dragged the overturned cabinet to the door of Ella Zero's room, sat down, and began to close his eyes to rest.
Yang Guang glared at him, giving him a "if you don't do it, I won't either" attitude, and then rescued his own sofa, ready to take a nap with a clear conscience.
In the ruins, where all was silent and not even light could penetrate, the three people remained silent.
Gu Yan remained outside the base until the lights were turned off and it was pitch black, but he did not move.
There was a rustling sound nearby, accompanied by a slight metallic clanging.
It was a familiar scent to him.
"Ready?"
"Is there anything I need to prepare?"
He knew his probing had been seen through, and he smiled indifferently.
"It feels like a dream."
He simply lay down. With his hands behind his head, he noticed that there were no stars left in the sky, yet his eyes were still searching for them unconsciously.
"Dreaming...Why?"
"It's probably because I was thinking about what we've been through together recently."
A strange light flickered in Ella Zero's eyes: "So, do you think you understand me now?"
"for example?"
"Do you really think that what you're seeing now is me?"
She leaned closer to him, and he could feel her warmth.
