The alarms in the central tower blared through the sky, cleverly concealing their movements.
It was just footsteps; they're everywhere in the tower now, nothing unusual.
"Let's split up and search." At this rate, we probably won't be able to finish the mission before the chaos ends. It would be more efficient for the two of us to go it alone.
The things Gu Yan needed were in a private reading space inside the archives, in an inner compartment; the only electronic reading device was hidden there…
He pried open the partition and pinpointed the location of the old ThinkPad.
It's an old thing; it's a miracle it even starts. He hooked a power cord over and plugged it in so it wouldn't crash during use.
No matter what system it is, once you let him connect to the backbone network, it's as if he has no secrets.
"I thought Yang Guang was better at system processing than the other two."
"It was purely accidental. The division of responsibilities between the two of us mainly depended on who could be 100% certain of getting into the research center."
Ella Zero's eyes widened slightly, then she nodded.
Her expressions became much more varied, though Gu Yan couldn't quite recall when it started. She just felt that this was actually quite nice.
"Did you get it sorted out over there?" Gu Yan asked, casually glancing at Ella Zero from head to toe. Realizing his rudeness, he awkwardly looked away. "Just asking. It seemed pretty quick. Why didn't you take care of it together last time?"
She seemed to think he had asked a stupid question: "Because Sivers was malfunctioning last time."
Gu Yan nodded knowingly; he knew he couldn't pursue this topic any further.
"Then, shall we go?" Gu Yan looked into Ella Ling's eyes, then glanced behind her.
Of course, it was impossible for him not to care. He had never known Ella Zero's true purpose, or whether the Doctor had secretly assigned her some new person.
If his guess is correct, Ella Zero is most likely another new research project that the doctor is conducting under the guise of researching bionic technology. The royal family knows about this, which is why they are hunting her down.
"What do you think the Central Tower is? You just got here, why are you leaving already?"
A209.
She walked lightly into the archives management room, wearing knee-high boots.
After looking around, she smiled ambiguously at Ella Zero: "Isn't this place nice? All the information and data you need are here."
Ella took a step back and assumed a fighting stance that Gu Yan was familiar with.
"Get out of the way."
"Move aside?" A209's expression was a mixture of surprise and amusement. "What are you talking about? You're so arrogant on someone else's turf, just like your PhD mom."
Gu Yan made no move, which surprised A209.
"Could you know? That's impossible!"
"Huh?" Gu Yan shrugged indifferently. "I don't know what you're talking about. Sorry, I'm not very interested."
Seizing the opportunity, Ella Zero launched a direct attack on A209's neck.
"Enough with the nonsense."
A209 was prepared; with a few nimble dodges, she completely neutralized Ella Zero's killing move, landing a few steps away.
"Don't rush, I haven't introduced you to our old friends yet."
Gu Yan's calm and composed expression was replaced by seriousness, clearly indicating that he cared a lot about what A209 had said.
Ella Zero also stopped diagonally in front of him.
"Why aren't you making a move? You're all curious too, aren't you?" A209's expression was exactly like when they first met in the neon cocoon. "Come on, you guys have a good get-together."
She blew a whistle with her little finger in her mouth, and a commotion arose outside.
Then, there was the sound of someone banging on the door.
When A209 entered, the door was only slightly ajar, but the person outside seemed to be clueless and kept banging on the door.
Despite being made of a sturdy precision alloy, the door frame still trembled upon impact, and the door slowly slid open, the gap widening.
The people outside finally broke down the sturdy door.
Gu Yan felt his breath catch in his throat, unable to describe what... what had come in?
It was a combination of several non-human creatures, and from head to tail, only the feet were still in human shape.
There was a fresh wound on his shinbone that had just been stitched up. Gu Yan's gaze slowly moved from the wound to the monster's upper body.
"Li Wen..."
This realization shocked him.
He remembered the wound that Ella Zero had recently stitched up, and Ella Zero must have remembered it too.
He looked at Ella Zero beside him.
She was indeed staring at the wound.
"What, don't you recognize me? Isn't this your best friend who risked her life to save you from danger? Now she's been ruined like this by your mother's experiments. Tell me, whose side are you on?"
Two or three more monsters with the same appearance followed Livin in.
“The respected doctor said this is a side effect, and there’s nothing she can do about it, but the probability is too high. I don’t believe it.” A209 strode forward and approached Ella Zero.
Gu Yan quickly sorted out the current situation. What happened?
Does this mean that Dr. Lowry is responsible for Livin's current state?
Why?
"How about this!" A209 clapped her hands playfully, swaying her slender waist. "Tie you up and bring you in front of the Doctor, then threaten her that she'll kill you if you don't obey! That'll be much more efficient!"
Ella Zero grasped the key point: "Mom is still in your hands."
A209 nodded with a beaming smile: "Yes, yes, it's been so long. Ever since you escaped, the Doctor has been invited to visit the Central Tower."
"You want to replicate me?" Ella Zero said softly.
A209 shrugged: "It's fair, isn't it? The resistance has been copying our stuff too, hasn't it? I saw the remnants of the camp that the guards brought back..." She suddenly moved closer to Gu Yan, wanting to blow a breath on his earlobe, but he subtly dodged away.
"How heartless." A209 retracted his gesture, his voice strained. "You've been working with the rebels all along; it's obvious you've hooked up with them. What benefits have the rebels promised you? I can double them."
A209 looked at her with anticipation.
Ella Zero and Gu Yan exchanged a glance; their intuition told A209 that things were definitely not simple.
"No chatting." Ella Zero flicked her finger and tossed the mechanism with the trigger to the ceiling. With a tug on the thin wire, the red dot on the device flashed rapidly, faster and faster.
"Another bomb? Be reasonable—"
The flashing speed was almost at its limit, there wasn't enough time! A209 angrily raised its ion shield and turned its face away to minimize the damage.
One second...
Ten seconds...
Twenty seconds passed, and A209 belatedly turned around, only to find that Gu Yan and Ella Zero were nowhere to be seen!
“Just like your PhD mother, cunning!” A209 said angrily, calling out to David, who was on standby at all times, with great frustration.
"Remember to teach me a few more swear words in your next update, you... thing!"

Is anyone else here?
"there is none left."
Both of them were panting heavily, but they were finally able to lean against each other and rest for a while.
"They're conducting human research? We need to tell Aunt Jiang about this immediately."
Gu Yan wiped his sweat and quickly summarized the most urgent task.
Ella remained silent, tidied up the scattered props, and stuffed them all back into her bag.
"Don't you have anything to ask me?"
"What is it?" Gu Yan asked. "Liwen? Doctor?"
Ella Zero zipped up her backpack: "Never mind."
“I thought you minded me asking these questions, so I didn’t ask.” Gu Yan quickly followed her.
“If what she said is true,” Ella Zero stopped in her tracks, “if what she said is true, then you and the Federal Royal Family will be locked in a fierce battle.”
The two rushed back to the base, but after entering the password, they received no response from Yang Guang.
Are you going out?
"It shouldn't be like this..." The cover was loose, someone had removed the lock, but Yang Guang's annoying voice was nowhere to be heard.
Gu Yan frowned and said, "I'll go down first."
Pushing open the cover, there was still no sound underneath.
"Invasion?" Ella asked, mouthing the question. Gu Yan shook his head warily.
He grabbed the rope ladder's step and lowered himself in, landing safely without incident.
"Nobody here?" Ella Zero decided to go down and check herself. She had just landed when Gu Yan, who was only a few steps away, could feel a chilling wind blowing towards her.
Ella Zero mobilized almost all of her body's instincts to meet the attack.
A dark figure darted in front of her, throwing a straight punch with its first step, and Ella Zero took a step back.
With the second side kick, Ella Zero blocked the attack by crossing her arms and retreated to the wall to prepare for a counterattack.
She heard a metallic clang beneath her feet and looked down to see a thick iron chain coiled around her ankle like a giant python.
trap?
The shadowy figure had been waiting for this moment, rushing straight towards her face to attack.
He was knocked to the ground by Ella Zero's punch as soon as he got close.
"What are you doing?" Gu Yan groped his way to the light switch in the dark. With a click, the base was instantly illuminated.
"Thieves and robbers are not welcome here!" The light also illuminated Yang Guang, who was sitting on the ground wiping the blood from the corner of his mouth with the back of his hand.
"What happened?"
"What's going on?" Yang Guang exclaimed, pointing at Ella Zero.
"Ask her! Doesn't she know what disgusting things she's done?"
Ella Zero kicked away the iron chain at her feet, which Yang Guang saw as a mockery of his clumsy technique.
"I don't know, why don't you tell me?"
"What's there to say? I'll just gouge your eyes out!" With that, he lunged at Ella Zero again, only to be kicked away by Gu Yan.
"Speak properly, don't act crazy."
Yang Guang's way of speaking properly was to throw his communication device at Gu Yan's face.
Gu Yan looked at the device in his hand suspiciously: "It's not broken." Then he forcibly pulled Yang Guang over and pressed him down, trying to log into the system.
Authentication failed, please try again.
Ella Zero sat in her usual spot, Yang Guang glared at her angrily, and snorted.
"Is it really worth getting so angry if I can't log in? Why not just reset the system?" This really puzzled her.
Judging from Gu Yan's expression, everyone must have come to the same conclusion.
"Is this just a matter of not being able to log in? Someone actually changed the iris authentication right under my nose. This means the enemy has already breached the base. At best, we'll have to completely upgrade the security defenses; at worst, we'll have to abandon the base and start all over again."
He turned fiercely to Ella Zero: "You, it's you, you've handled the code for that Sivers machine, you know all this, you're just pretending not to."
Gu Yan interrupted his accusation: "She's not the only one who's been here."
"Liwen? What can she accomplish? She's always crying and whining, and she only dares to blow up the entrance and exit of the camp." Yang Guang's impression of Liwen was limited to the fact that she would cry so much that it gave him a headache.
He noticed that both of them were silent, which he found strange.
What's wrong with you?
"Liwen... Anyway, you should reset it first."
"No way! Resetting the system will delete all my data! Whoever stole my verification, I'll gouge out their eyes to vent my anger!"
Ella Zero looked completely unconcerned: "A deactivated iris can't be used for authentication, right? You actually need someone to teach you something like this."
"Shut up!"
