Chapter 134 Requisitioning Old Master Gu's Study (2/2)

Qin Shuman reached out and touched Lin Han's hair. "Let's go downstairs for dinner first. We can start drawing the design slowly."

Lin Han followed Qin Shuman downstairs, but did not see Gu Qizheng and Gu Huaiming.

"Hasn't Qi Zheng and Dad come back?"

Qin Shuman explained that the two of them were still in a meeting and wouldn't be coming back for lunch.

Lin Han was a little disappointed; she had wanted to show Gu Qizheng her design drawings as soon as possible.

Looks like I'll have to wait until tonight.

I wonder if Gu Qizheng will be very busy after being transferred to the Kyoto Military Region, or if he will be on missions that last for ten days or half a month or more.

Actually, she was fine during her pregnancy, but when she was about to give birth, she still hoped that Gu Qizheng could be by her side.

However, these are not things she can decide. When it comes to the country, one's own family must always take a backseat.

Qin Shuman cooked tofu, which Lin Han loves, and stir-fried shredded pork with green peppers. There was also a pigeon soup that Grandma Jiang had been stewing since early morning simmering on the stove.

After the dishes were served, Grandma Jiang first served Lin Han a bowl of pigeon soup.

"Hanhan, drink more of this. Pigeon is very good for pregnant women; it's very good for replenishing blood."

Although Lin Han didn't particularly like drinking soupy drinks, she understood that it was a kind gesture from her elders.

She picked up the small spoon and sipped it slowly.

Surprisingly, it's refreshingly sweet and delicious, without the fishy or greasy taste I expected.

Grandma Jiang was happy to see that she enjoyed the drink.

"I prepared the pigeons in advance so they won't have any strange taste. The soup contains lily bulbs, red dates, and ginseng, which will give it a sweet and refreshing flavor."

It's not bad, is it?

Lin Han nodded, "Yes, it tastes very good."

After lunch, Lin Han helped clear the dishes, but Grandma Jiang refused and pushed her upstairs for a nap.

"From now on, you don't need to do any housework. I've been there, I know. Once you get involved in housework, you can't get rid of it."

I couldn't shake you off myself, and neither could Schumann, so of course we have to protect you and let you enjoy the blessings we didn't get to enjoy.

Times have changed. Back then, we didn't have the means, but now we live much better. We don't have to flee famine or fight wars; you can enjoy your life in peace.

Lin Han felt that she was being protected too well by the Gu family.

Gu Qizheng is a good person, her parents are good people, and even her grandparents are very protective of her.

She felt so happy.

If she hadn't been separated from her mother in the 21st century, would she also be living in such a happy family?

Lin Han returned to her room, picked up a book, leaned against the headboard, and read it. Before long, she fell asleep without realizing it.

Since becoming pregnant, she has often felt sleepy, especially right after eating; she would feel sleepy after reading only a couple of pages.

Fortunately, she doesn't have to go to work now. She can sleep whenever she wants and do whatever she wants. Life couldn't be more comfortable.

I woke up from my nap at noon and it was already past three o'clock.

Lin Han went downstairs to greet her grandparents, then returned to her study to continue drawing design drafts.

Grandma Jiang had prepared a pot of white fungus soup for her, waiting for her to finish her afternoon nap so she could eat it.

Grandpa Gu was turning over the soil in the yard with a hoe, a towel draped around his neck. He worked with great skill and didn't look like someone in their seventies or eighties at all.

Lin Han spent another afternoon designing two styles of maternity clothes. She put away her art supplies and packed the sketches into a bag to bring to Liu Li tomorrow.
