"How do you write the 'Han' in Lin Han's name? I've tried twice but I still can't get it right. Liu Li, could you write it for me again?"
An illiterate military wife asked Liu Li and Wang Fang to teach her how to write Lin Han's name. After she learned it, she wanted to write all her words of gratitude to Lin Han in her essay for the competition.
She heard that the essay contest was related to the whitewashed wall outside the family compound, and that the winners would have their portraits painted on the wall for everyone to praise.
She didn't know what others thought, but she felt that Lin Han was the best girl in the world.
"Yesterday I had my husband write down what I said on a piece of paper. Today I'm going to copy what he wrote down, and that way I'll have my own handwritten essay."
Am I not very smart?
The others chimed in agreement.
"Yes, how come I didn't think of that? We can have someone write down everything we want to say first, and then we can copy it. That way we won't have to worry about not being able to learn so many words in a short time."
"That's a good idea. I'm going home to ask my husband to help me write it."
These military wives gathered together after lunch to work on the essay submission. Because they were illiterate, their progress was slow, and many of them hadn't gone home by the time it was time to make dinner.
Wang Ru had been sulking these past few days, and she hoped that Zhang Qiang would take the initiative to come to her and coax her.
Actually, she wasn't that angry anymore, especially after weighing the pros and cons. She still felt that she should marry into the Zhang family first and then properly establish her position.
She was waiting for a way out; if Zhang Qiang came and said a few kind words to her, she would go back with him.
But almost two weeks have passed, and we haven't even seen a trace of the Zhang family.
This morning during morning training, Wang Ru overheard a new recruit who was close to Li Qiao chatting with someone, saying that the pancake Li Qiao brought from her aunt's house was delicious.
Only then did Wang Ru realize that Li Qiao had been at Zhang Qiang's house the whole time she hadn't been there.
She was furious. So, the reason Zhang Qiang didn't care at all about her anger was because his mother was trying to set him up with Li Qiao at home?
That's really something.
In order to prevent her position from being completely taken over by Li Qiao, Wang Ru went to Zhang Qiang's house after work today.
Before we even got there, we saw a small table under a tree, with a group of military wives gathered around it, chattering away, doing something we couldn't quite make out.
She curiously moved closer.
"Look at how well I wrote this. I copied it several times, and this is the one I'm most satisfied with. I finally understand how to write the character 'Han' in Lin Han's name."
Wang Ru overheard these people talking about Lin Han and went over to take a look.
Good heavens, the table is covered with essays praising Lin Han.
It describes how Lin Han designed maternity clothes for the pregnant military dependents, and how Lin Han helped the military dependents make money.
Wang Ru gritted her teeth.
What's going on here?
She was determined to win the essay contest, and even used the hair clip Zhang Qiang had given her to exchange with several female soldiers to praise her in their essays.
Why are so many people suddenly writing about Lin Han?
The number of people writing about her is several times greater.
