Qin Shuman's voice rang out from outside the door.
"Hanhan, Aunt Zhang from next door brought you a watermelon. Don't you love her watermelons the most? Come out and eat some."
Lin Han blushed and pushed Huo Qizheng away.
"You go to sleep by yourself, I'm going out to get some watermelon."
Huo Qizheng lay on his back on the bed, wanting to laugh. His little wife really loved food more than him.
Lin Han stood up, straightened her clothes and hair, opened the door and went out.
"Aunt Qin, I'm here."
Huo Qizheng stayed in the bedroom to take a nap, while Lin Han happily ate small pieces of watermelon in the living room.
"Aunt Zhang's watermelons are so sweet. They taste even better after being chilled in water."
Qin Shuman enjoyed watching Lin Han eat. The way Lin Han ate made her feel blessed, as if she had a very good appetite.
Adults like children like this.
Following Qin Shuman's instructions, Officer Li cut the watermelon into small pieces and arranged them on a plate. Then, using the small bamboo skewers that Lin Han had made herself, she picked up the pieces one by one and put them into her mouth, so that she could eat one piece at a time without getting her hands dirty.
After eating watermelon, the wives chatted with Lin Han, while Qin Shuman went to arrange dinner.
Huo Qizheng slept for about an hour and came out of Lin Han's bedroom. Lin Han felt a little guilty and peeked into the room.
They found that Huo Qizheng had tidied the room spotlessly, with not a single wrinkle on the sheets and the blankets folded into neat squares on the pillows.
She breathed a sigh of relief.
She was afraid that Qin Shuman would find out about their fooling around in the room.
"What's wrong, baby?"
Huo Qizheng, holding Lin Han's hand, asked in confusion.
Lin Han glanced at him and secretly pinched his arm with her fingers.
"It's all your fault for being dishonest."
Huo Qizheng had a smile on his face, and the pain from the woman pinching him was as light as flirting.
"Okay, I'll be good."
In the afternoon, Huo Qizheng accompanied Gu Huaiming and chatted with the old leaders from the Kyoto Military Region.
Although he was the least senior and youngest among them, his eloquence and dignified demeanor earned him the appreciation of several people.
Dinner was simple. After Li, the service officer, and the canteen staff set out the food, they left.
Qin Shuman pulled Lin Han to sit down next to her.
"Hanhan, there's braised pork ribs and spicy chicken for dinner, which you like. Eat more."
Lin Han obediently agreed and used clean chopsticks to serve food to Qin Shuman.
"Aunt Qin, you should eat more too. I remember you like this stir-fried eggs with toon leaves."
The room was filled with a joyful atmosphere, and Gu Huaiming, in high spirits, opened another bottle of wine.
While they were drinking, Li, the orderly, suddenly returned.
"Commander, good news! The communications company has received news that your son, who has been missing for many years, has been found in the Shanxi area."
The person has already been delivered to the military area gate. I rushed over as soon as I received the call to report the news, and I've already arranged for Secretary Zhang to pick them up.
Gu Huaiming's hand holding the wine glass trembled, and the wine spilled out completely.
"Are you serious? Quick, I want to go pick you up myself."
Gu Huaiming excitedly stood up and walked towards the door. Qin Shuman was still unable to accept the news and sat in her chair for a long time without getting up.
Lin Han glanced at Huo Qizheng. The man sat on the stool without moving, his face expressionless, revealing no emotion.
But Lin Han knew he must be very disappointed.
Just when we had some news about our parents, the trail went cold again.
