Chapter 298 Impersonation
Qin Jinzhi looked at the burly man holding the iron block as if she had expected it.
"I guessed it, so I invited that aunt from the Mo family."
The burly man frowned and looked at Qin Jinzhi. "Did you tell her I was here?"
Qin Jinzhi shook her head. "I don't have the habit of tattling, but if that aunt goes to Yangzhou, I don't know if you can keep your information a secret."
The burly man pointed angrily at Qin Jinzhi, "You little brat, you're despicable and shameless!"
Qin Jinzhi shrugged. "Is this the first day you've heard?"
The burly man turned his face away. "Since someone can help you, my place is too small to keep you here."
Qin Jinzhi jumped off the counter. "Just as I thought, you're still willing to be a coward. If that's the case, I won't force you."
She placed the old friend's pendant hanging from her waist onto the table.
"The drink I promised you."
When she reached the door, Qin Jinzhi stopped, but did not turn around.
"A genius who once dominated the field has now retreated to this blacksmith shop just because he lost a competition. He really has no ambition."
After saying that, he left with Yuecheng.
The burly man looked somewhat helpless as he saw the doorway where there was no one.
He walked to the counter and picked up the wine pot left by Qin Jinzhi.
"What kind of bullshit genius is this?"
He then drank the wine from the jug containing his old friend's wine in one gulp.
Just as I was about to praise the fine wine, I felt a sudden dizziness.
As soon as Qin Jinzhi stepped out the door, she and Yuecheng slipped behind a tree.
Yuecheng asked, puzzled, "Why are we hiding here?"
Qin Jinzhi smiled mischievously, crossed her arms, and leaned against a tree.
Yuecheng pursed her lips. Well, what kind of bad idea is she up to now?
All that could be heard was the sound of a heavy object falling to the ground inside the house.
Qin Jinzhi raised an eyebrow and stepped inside.
The big man had already collapsed to the ground.
Qin Jinzhi tilted her head at Yuecheng, "Senior brother, carry him away."
Yuecheng walked to the big man's side and carried him on his back.
He muttered to himself, "She drinks any kind of alcohol she wants; if you don't pass out, who will?"
Yuecheng was rather curious, "Who is this person? How is he related to the Mo family?"
Qin Jinzhi walked ahead with her hands behind her back. "The two great families of mechanical arts, the Mo family and the Gongshu family, are on par. Both families have produced geniuses who have emerged out of nowhere. Ten years ago, the two geniuses had a competition, and the Gongshu family lost. Since then, they have disappeared without a trace."
Yuecheng frowned. "You're saying he's Gongshu Zhi!"
Qin Jinzhi walked forward with light steps.
Long ago, she had been pondering how to persuade Gongshu Zhi to come out of seclusion.
Even without the human trafficking incident, she would still have gone to Yangzhou.
Now, this is a golden opportunity.
Gongshu Zhi opened his eyes and, seeing the unfamiliar place, quickly got up.
He saw Qin Jinzhi sitting in a chair, smiling at him. "Awake?"
Gongshu Zhi closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and then angrily lay back down with his eyes closed again.
He knew it wouldn't end well if he ran into this brat!
Qin Jinzhi ignored his angry face and walked over to him, saying, "I have something good to show you."
Gongshu Zhi turned his face away, "I'm not looking!"
Qin Jinzhi clicked her tongue, "You'll regret it if you don't watch."
Gongshu Zhi made no move. Qin Jinzhi raised an eyebrow. "Then I'll have that aunt come over directly."
Gongshu Zhi sat up abruptly. "What exactly do you want to do!"
Qin Jinzhi raised an eyebrow. "Didn't I already say I'd help you break a mechanism?"
Gongshu Zhi's eyes widened. "There are so many people who can break through mechanisms, why do you need me!"
Qin Jinzhi said matter-of-factly, "I don't know anyone else, but if you don't help me, that Mo family aunt said that as long as I take you to see her, she can help me."
Gongshu Zhiqi pointed at Qin Jinzhi and cursed, "How could Qin Ziyi have given birth to such a bastard like you!"
Qin Jinzhi looked at him nonchalantly, "You were my brother who swore an oath to the ground with my father back then. I don't know who said that you would treat me like your own daughter. I'm a little rascal, and what are you? An old rabbit?"
Gongshu Zhiqi rolled his eyes.
Qin Jinzhi walked to the door and pushed it open a crack, just enough to see the room opposite.
Inside the room sat a woman, dressed in white, her face bearing the marks of time, yet her demeanor was ethereal.
Qin Jinzhi glanced at the woman, then at the disheveled Gongshu Zhi with his full beard, and clicked her tongue in disapproval.
“I think you’re really not good enough for this aunt. Maybe if she saw you like this, all her obsessions over the years would dissipate. I’d consider it a good deed.”
Gongshu Zhiqi rolled his eyes, but still peeked through the crack in the door.
The white robes remained ethereal, just as they had appeared in his mind back then.
Seeing Gongshu Zhi's expression, Qin Jinzhi was about to push open the door.
Gongshu Zhi quickly said, "Wait!"
Qin Jinzhi smiled and turned to look at Gongshu Zhi.
"Changed your mind?"
Gongshu Zhi pointed to the door, "Close the door."
Qin Jinzhi said with a smile, "No problem, my dear Uncle Rabbit."
He then closed the door.
Gongshu Zhi gritted his teeth, "I've broken the trap for you, but you have to promise that you will never tell her about me."
Qin Jinzhi's smile widened as she pointed in the direction of the woman's room.
"Don't worry, I will never tell her about you."
Gongshu Zhi poured himself a cup of tea. "When?"
Qin Jinzhi smiled and said, "I see that your blacksmith shop doesn't have much business in two days. Why don't you stay at this restaurant for the next two days?"
Gongshu Zhi scoffed, "Bullshit, everyone praises the swords I forge."
Qin Jinzhi pursed her lips, giving him a look that said, "Do you really believe me?"
Gongshu Zhi looked somewhat embarrassed. "I want to eat meat!"
Qin Jinzhi turned around and pushed the door open.
Gongshu Zhi immediately shouted, "What are you doing!"
Qin Jinzhi was speechless. "Call the waiter."
Gongshu Zhi gave an awkward "oh".
That evening, Qin Jinzhi returned to her room and listened to Long Yuwei's report of the information he had gathered.
Yuecheng came over with a curious look and asked, "How did you manage to invite that aunt over in such a short time? Her status in the Mo family is quite extraordinary now."
Qin Jinzhi blinked. "I don't know her, how can I invite her?"
Yuecheng looked puzzled. "No, wasn't that aunt next door during the day?"
Qin Jinzhi said quite confidently, "I had someone impersonate me. The Mo family is based in Henan. Even if I flew there, I couldn't bring them here within a day."
Yuecheng looked at Qin Jinzhi with the same expression, "Is it an imposter? Aren't you afraid of being exposed?"
Qin Jinzhi chuckled, "My uncle is a coward. He's been hiding from that person for ten years. He would never want to see her. Besides, after ten years, her appearance has become blurry. As long as the two of them don't meet, he won't be exposed."
Yuecheng burst into laughter after hearing this, "Wouldn't he be furious if he knew?"
Qin Jinzhi thought about it and realized that she might not die of anger now, but that might not be the case in two days.
She touched her nose and smiled.
Gongshu Zhi, who was kept in the dark, tossed and turned, unable to sleep.
He got up, but did not light a lamp. After a long while, he sighed.
