Chapter 395 Literary Fortune
Qin Jinzhi was raised by the Empress's side from a young age.
The Empress had never been so angry with Qin Jinzhi before.
Qin Jinzhi wasn't even allowed to enter the palace gates.
The emperor stood at the door and muttered, "That brat made you angry, why are you locking me out too!"
Qin Jinzhi turned around and sat down by the door.
The emperor looked around, then lifted his dragon robe and sat down next to Qin Jinzhi.
"Don't be angry with your grandmother, she's worried about you."
Qin Jinzhi leaned on the emperor's shoulder, just as she had leaned on him when she was a child.
“I know, but grandfather, so many heroic souls have died and need comforting. As a descendant of the Qin family, this responsibility can only be borne by me.”
A sorrowful expression appeared on the emperor's face. "Your grandmother probably knows about your poisoning."
Qin Jinzhi tilted her head and looked at the moon in the sky. "That's fine too. If we can't find the orchid grass in two years, Grandmother won't be too sad. I'll still have time to say goodbye to her properly."
The emperor wiped his old face, having endured so many years of dormancy.
The State of Jin is now slowly moving towards the ideals they had in their youth.
The shared ideal of those ambitious people from decades ago is about to be realized.
They accomplished such a difficult task, yet they were defeated by a tiny orchid.
Countless people are sent out every year, and the border regions don't know how many are sent as well.
But there was absolutely no clue about the orchid.
The effects of the Azure Poison will take hold two years later.
Master Wuyou's commentary came two years later.
Once the situation in the State of Jin had settled down, Qin Jinzhi went to the battlefield.
It's like heading towards a predetermined destiny.
The empress feared that her granddaughter would die on the battlefield.
Everything seemed to be preordained.
Fate decreed that this child would die young.
Time is like a dull knife.
It slowly wounded the hearts of several elderly people.
Qin Jinzhi is too busy, as if she's in a rush.
Busy getting everything done before that time.
When Qin Jinzhi uttered those bold and ambitious words.
The Emperor and Empress had no doubt about the abilities of the child they had raised.
His ambition, ability, cunning, and methods are all top-notch.
But the pride that had just risen in the Queen's heart was immediately replaced by anger!
She desperately wanted to keep the child, but was that really the end for her?
What a load of bullshit about the world, what a load of bullshit about the country.
The heartache he felt for Qin Jinzhi, who had been suffering from a rare poison for so many years and had kept it from him for fear of upsetting her, now felt powerless.
She sent out all her personal guards to search for the orchid grass.
But the emperor searched for so many years and still couldn't find it.
Anger stems from fear.
An old man and a child sat in front of the palace gate.
Grandpa Hong covered his mouth to stop himself from crying out loud.
Qin Jinzhi said with a smile, "Grandfather, it seems that the two of us will not be able to enter this gate today. Eunuch Hong, please help His Majesty back to rest."
After speaking, she stood up without looking at the emperor behind her who was hiding his face.
"I'm going back to the Prince's residence. I'll come see my grandmother again after she calms down."
Qin Jinzhi walked towards the palace gate, slowly humming the lullaby that the Empress had often sung to her to lull her to sleep since she was a child.
Looking up at the rising sun, I pray for peace and health.
The young child basks in the warm sun.
Cypress leaves are green, and the body is robust.
May you have peace and safety and be free from illness and injury year after year.
Playing in the courtyard, laughter echoed long.
A gentle breeze accompanies me.
Fruits and vegetables taste delicious.
A balanced diet promotes good health.
Stargazing at night, entering a sweet dreamland.
Sweet dreams last a long time.
May your home be peaceful and your roads smooth.
May the years be long and free from disasters and hardships.
Traveling in all directions, filled with blessings,
They will grow into pillars of society and bring glory to their families and nation.
Qin Jinzhi left the palace but did not return to the Prince's residence.
I stole the wine that my grandfather had hidden before I left.
She took the wine to the Imperial College.
As Qin Jinzhi sat on the wall of the Taoist Changfeng, she saw that the old man's house was still lit with candles.
She rolled over and jumped into the yard.
The window opened immediately.
Daoist Changfeng, his beard bristling and eyes wide, said, "Just like your senior sister, you're such a scoundrel! You have a door to ask for, but you insist on climbing over the wall!"
Qin Jinzhi opened the stopper of the wine jar.
Master Changfeng's expression immediately changed. "My good disciple, you are the most considerate of all, always thinking of your master."
Qin Jinzhi smiled and placed the wine jar on the table outside.
When Changfeng Daoren came out of the room, Qin Jinzhi squatted in front of his flower bed and weeded his precious flowers.
He picked up the wine jar, took a deep sniff, and exclaimed, "Good wine!"
While weeding, Qin Jinzhi asked, "Master, have you found someone in the capital who satisfies you these days?"
Daoist Changfeng squinted as he sipped his wine.
"There were a few scattered cases, including my student's brother."
Qin Jinzhi huffed and puffed as she dug in the dirt. "The imperial examination will soon be on the agenda, and the examination system will be revised. Master, I can't think of anyone in the world more suitable to preside over the imperial examination than you."
Changfeng Daoren was a recognized great Confucian scholar, and he presided over the imperial examinations.
It is both convincing and inspiring.
Students from all over the country flocked to the event with great joy.
Master Changfeng stroked his beard and said, "That would involve too much karma, and I won't do that."
Qin Jinzhi said with a look of disgust, "Why are you, old man, also learning those bald monks from Xiangguo Temple?"
Daoist Changfeng glared at him, "What do you know, you brat! Go weed!"
Qin Jinzhi pursed her lips, "She's over a hundred years old and still has such a bad temper."
Master Changfeng looked at Qin Jinzhi and asked, "Master is testing you. Why do you insist on reforming the imperial examination system? Besides breaking the control of aristocratic families in officialdom, what other purpose does the imperial examination serve?"
Qin Jinzhi looked up, holding a small shovel, and asked, "Should we make the State of Jin value literature?"
Master Changfeng asked, "Why should we value literary talent?"
Qin Jinzhi pulled hard and accidentally plucked out the newly blooming flower.
She moved to the side, blocking Changfeng Daoren's view.
"The fate of a nation is determined by its cultural heritage; a nation whose cultural heritage is not flourishing will eventually perish."
Master Changfeng nodded in satisfaction. “The reason why aristocratic families monopolized books before was because the world was ignorant, which allowed them to stand firm and lord it over the people. The literary fortune of Jin cannot be made prosperous by me alone. My disciple, you probably understand.”
Qin Jinzhi nodded, "Disciple understands, disciple has learned a lot."
Daoist Changfeng nodded and sipped his wine.
Qin Jinzhi stood up and stood in front of the swaying flowers, saying, "It's late, Master, please rest."
Master Changfeng nodded. "Go ahead, but don't climb over the wall too often next time."
Qin Jinzhi smiled at Changfeng Daoist, then climbed over the wall and went outside.
Daoist Changfeng glanced at him and said, "You brat."
The swaying flower in the flower bed fell to the ground with a thud.
Master Changfeng was stunned, then a furious expression appeared on his face.
"You bastard!!!"
He rushed to the flowers, heartbroken.
"I've carefully nurtured this flower for so many days, and it finally bloomed! You brat, get back here!!!"
Qin Jinzhi, outside the wall, didn't stop for a moment and fled at top speed.
The old man's gone berserk! Run!
