Chapter 168 Waiting for You to Come Back

In the evening, after putting the two little ones to sleep, Fang Qiao used her spiritual energy to activate the sound transmission talisman.

A moment later, a soft white light flashed on the communication talisman, followed by Cheng Bodong's deep voice: "Qiao Qiao?"

"It's me."

Hearing Cheng Baidong's voice, Fang Qiao felt extremely at ease. She unconsciously smiled and asked, "Baidong, have you gone into the mountains?"

Cheng Baidong hummed in agreement and said, "We entered the mountain three days ago and are now close to the heart of Changbai Mountain."

As he spoke, he looked up at the towering trees overhead that blocked out the sky and moved a short distance to the side, holding the communication talisman.

Fang Qiao asked, "Have you found the source of the spiritual energy?"

"We've made some progress, but we're still not entirely sure. We need to go a little further in, and if all goes well, we should have some preliminary results in a few days."

Fang Qiao placed the communication talisman next to it and gently reminded her, "Then please be careful and do everything with caution. The children and I are waiting for you to come back safely at home."

"good."

Hearing Fang Qiao's gentle voice, Cheng Baidong's tough heart instantly softened completely.

He asked, "Honey, I've been gone for so many days, have you missed me?"

Fang Qiao blushed and nodded. Only after nodding did she realize that Cheng Baidong couldn't see her nodding. She said shyly in a low voice, "I've been thinking about it."

Even though she already has three children, Fang Qiao is still too embarrassed to talk about love, affection, or longing.

"Honey, I miss you too."

Cheng Baidong's voice was deep and hoarse, with a hint of lust in it. Fang Qiao's ears suddenly felt hot, and her entire ear turned bright red in an instant.

In the chaos, he lost his grip on the communication talisman and knocked over the enamel teacup on the desk, which fell to the ground with a 'clatter'.

Cheng Baidong quickly asked her with concern, "Wife, what's wrong?"

Fang Qiao immediately checked the crib to make sure the baby hadn't been woken up before picking up the teacup from the floor.

"No, I'm fine." Fang Qiao's face was hot, and she said apologetically, "My hand slipped and I knocked the teacup to the ground."

Cheng Baidong chuckled and stopped teasing her: "Wait for me at home. I'll be back as soon as I'm done."

"Um."

After speaking, Fang Qiao put the communication talisman back into her space, untangled her hair, and lay down to sleep.

The next day was another sunny day.

Unlike yesterday, there was no wind today, and no annoying sand and dust.

After breakfast, Xiaojing took Tiantian to the early childhood education class. Fang Qiao strung up two ropes in the yard and took the quilts out to air them. The quilts became fluffy and soft, making them more comfortable to sleep on at night.

Around noon, Wang Yun and I took the twin brothers, Chuan Chuan and Yue Yue, out to see the sun and feel the breath of spring.

The two brothers had been staying at home. As soon as they were taken outside, they opened their big, dark eyes and looked around with great interest, unable to get enough of what they were seeing.

The two brothers are exceptionally good-looking and look exactly alike, making them stand out wherever they go.

Before long, a long line of amazed children followed Fang Qiao and Wang Yun, chattering incessantly.

Wow, how come they look exactly alike?

"Twins! My mom says they're twins! Twins are exactly the same."

"How can you tell which one is which when they're exactly the same?"

"Auntie, auntie, which one is the older brother? Which one is the younger brother?"

"Auntie, auntie, can I touch their hands?"

"Auntie, auntie, can they eat candy? I have candy I can give them."

Kids can be really naughty when they're being naughty, and they can be really cute when they're being cute.

Chuan Chuan and Yue Yue, who are only a month old, are already becoming the darlings of the family compound as the only twins born.

On her first outing, Fang Qiao didn't dare to carry the child too far. She just strolled around the alley and returned home in about ten minutes.

Not long after Fang Qiao returned home, Xiao Jing also came back from outside, carrying a vegetable basket in her hand, followed by Fang Qiao's family members.

"Sister-in-law, we have a guest."

Fang Qiao peeked out of the main room and saw her mother, Yang Fengxia, her older sister, Fang Xue, and her sister-in-law, Dong Ping.

Yang Fengxia walked ahead, arm in arm with Fang Xue, while Dong Ping carried a bamboo basket covered with a red cloth.

"Mom, you're here." Fang Qiao quickly invited them into the house: "Sister-in-law, eldest sister, please come in and sit down."

Fang Xue helped Yang Fengxia into the house, and as soon as they entered, they began to 'visit' each room without any hesitation.

"There were too many people when I delivered the rice, so I didn't have a chance to look around your house much. Today I can finally have a proper tour." Fang Xue finished looking through the storage room and was about to push the door open to go into Xiao Jing's room when Fang Qiao reached out and blocked the door frame, stopping her: "This is my sister's room. It's a matter of personal privacy, so it's not convenient for you to visit."

Fang Xue scoffed: "A country girl, before coming to the city, she might have been sharing a large dormitory with her parents. And she has personal privacy?"

Xiao Jing lowered her head after Fang Xue's words, a look of embarrassment flashing across her face.

Fang Qiao reached out and grabbed her hand, then turned and retorted to Fang Xue: "Big sister, there's no point in talking like that. Before you criticize others, why don't you think about how you also slept in a dormitory with your parents for five or six years before you got married? We've all slept in dormitory rooms, so what's the difference between a city girl and a country girl? Stop looking down on others."

A warm feeling welled up in Xiaojing's heart. She looked at Fang Qiao, who had stood up for her, with gratitude in her eyes, as if saying, "Thank you."

Fang Qiao, however, didn't think anything of it.

Fang Xue is too harsh in her words; even without Xiao Jing, she would have already retorted.

Fang Xue, feeling embarrassed, rolled her eyes and retorted, "Little sister, we're just chatting as family, how could we look down on each other? Why are you taking it so seriously? It's really pointless!"

Seeing that the sisters were about to start arguing again, Yang Fengxia quickly intervened, saying, "Xiao Qiao, your eldest sister is straightforward, don't take it to heart. Xiao Xue, it's okay if you don't look at one room, your younger sister's house is big, you can look around elsewhere."

Fang Xue pulled up a chair and sat down next to Yang Fengxia, sulking, "I'm not watching anymore."

"Why aren't you watching anymore?" Yang Fengxia asked quickly.

“Your place is quite big and nicely decorated, but it’s too remote. To put it nicely, it’s in the suburbs; to put it bluntly, it’s in the countryside. It takes me an hour to come all the way from the city with you, which is very inconvenient. What’s the point of decorating a place like this if you’re not comfortable living there? The city is much better.”

After finishing her rant, Fang Xue looked at Fang Qiao and asked, "Little sister, why don't you ask your husband to find a way to transfer to a unit in the city? The city is so much better; everything is so convenient there."

A smile played on her lips, but her eyes held a hint of provocation.
