Unfortunately, Jiang Moli's plan was quite well-thought-out, but little did she know that the actual plot would not follow her expected script at all.
Before she even hit the donkey cart, she tripped and fell to the ground along with her child.
At the last second, the child was caught by an old man next to the donkey cart by his trouser strap and lifted up, preventing him from actually falling to the ground. Jiang Moli, however, was not so lucky; she landed face-first on the ground, making a pathetic, embarrassing fall.
His forehead was also scratched by a small stone on the ground, leaving a long gash that bled.
She landed face down, so much so that her entire face was numb. She tried to get up, but her wrist twisted when she landed, and she couldn't get any strength in it, so she fell back down halfway up.
Cheng Baidong calmly withdrew his hand from the spell and gently patted Tian Tian's back in a comforting manner.
Fang Qiao saw Cheng Baidong use magic to trip Jiang Moli, but she coldly observed Jiang Moli's disheveled appearance without feeling anything in her heart.
In her past life, when she desperately begged for help, Jiang Moli watched coldly from the sidelines.
Fang Qiao pulled herself out of her thoughts, turned to look at Cheng Baidong who was holding Tian Tian, and said, "Let's go, so no one else goes crazy. Don't scare the child."
Cheng Baidong nodded and squeezed out of the crowd with her.
Third Aunt hurriedly followed.
Su Chen's mother opened her mouth, but swallowed the words back down.
Well, judging by how protective Tian Tian's uncle and aunt are of their child, it seems there's no way to get the child back! Any further fuss will be pointless. The nanny can't take her home anyway, so let's save our breath!
Jiang Moli watched as Fang Qiao and Cheng Baidong disappeared into the crowd, but she didn't dare to say a word.
She knew that stopping Fang Qiao and confronting her at this moment was the best way to clear her name and restore her 'innocence'.
But how could she dare!
After all, she herself is not innocent at all!
If Fang Qiao is stopped and confronted, who knows what shocking things she might say that might cause her to die even faster!
Jiang Moli lay on the ground, her eyes darting around, racking her brains for other solutions.
However, before she could come up with a solution, her hair was suddenly grabbed from behind.
The immense force pulled her up.
"ah--"
Her scalp ached as if someone had ripped the skin and flesh off her head. The pain made her vision go black, and she cried out in agony.
"It hurts... let go, let go..."
"open?"
"You fucking cheated on me, and you expect me to let you go?"
Cheng Yajun's chilling voice rang in Jiang Moli's ears. His breath, which should have been warm, sprayed onto the back of her neck, but it felt like the forked tongue of a venomous snake, sinister and cold. Jiang Moli froze, feeling a chill run through her body.
"Runner-up... I, I didn't..."
Jiang Moli's pupils constricted, and her upper and lower teeth chattered uncontrollably.
She suppressed her fear and tried to explain: "You, you misunderstood. I, I didn't. That, that, that was Fang Qiao, Fang Qiao made it up. She, she resented me for speaking up for Tian Tian's grandma, and she deliberately, deliberately slandered me."
"slander?"
Cheng Yajun's lips twitched, revealing a faint, enigmatic smile.
Jiang Moli seemed to see a glimmer of hope. She scrambled to her feet, grabbed Cheng Yajun's arm, and nodded vigorously: "Yes, yes, she, she deliberately slandered me, trying to drive a wedge between us..."
However, in the next moment, Cheng Yajun suddenly made a move and slapped her hard across the face.
"You bitch! You think I'm a fool?"
As he spoke, Cheng Yajun stood up, kicked Jiang Moli in the stomach, and sent her flying.
"ah--"
Jiang Moli was kicked backward a meter or two, like a rag doll.
Cheng Yajun's eyes were red, and his face was full of hostility. He looked like a rabid dog having an attack of rabies.
Su Chen's mother was closest to Cheng Yajun. When Cheng Yajun stood up, the two were almost face to face, and she could clearly see the murderous intent surging in Cheng Yajun's eyes.
Perhaps it was because her gaze was too direct, or perhaps she simply felt that this person was too close to her, but Cheng Yajun opened his mouth and told Su Chen's mother: "Get lost!"
Su Chen's mother was startled, fearing that Cheng Yajun would punch her again.
She was old and her body wasn't as strong as a young person's, but she couldn't withstand a punch from Cheng Yajun.
Suddenly, they dared not watch the commotion anymore and urged their son-in-law to hurry up and leave.
"Let's go, let's go quickly."
Cheng Yajun continued to assault Jiang Moli.
Punch after punch, kick after kick.
He showed no mercy. After his punches and kicks, Jiang Moli's face was soon bruised, her lips were broken and swollen, and blood trickled down her cheeks.
Jiang Moli cheated on Cheng Yajun, and Cheng Yajun wanted to beat her to vent his anger. This was their family matter, and no one else wanted to interfere, nor could they interfere at all.
But as Cheng Yajun's beatings became increasingly severe, and with such ferocity that it seemed he was trying to kill the man, the villagers watching could no longer bear to watch.
It's true that people love to watch a good show, but when someone is about to be beaten to death right in front of them, no one can remain indifferent and just stand by and watch; everyone rushes forward to break up the fight.
"Runner-up brother, that's enough, stop fighting."
"He's already breathing more out than in, we can't keep hitting him!"
"If you hit someone again, you'll kill them!"
"Calm down, calm down. Maybe there's been a misunderstanding."
Cheng Yajun was pulled aside by the crowd, while the others hurriedly went to check on Jiang Moli's condition.
