Fang Qiao did not respond immediately upon hearing this.
She only wanted to use the north-facing room as a study for a while; she hadn't thought that far ahead yet, since there were many children in the family. While Xiaojing's words made a lot of sense, she hadn't considered the children growing up in a few years.
As children grow older, they can no longer live with adults and need to have their own rooms.
Even if two girls live together, two boys live together, plus Xiaojing and her husband, it would still take four rooms.
But the house only has three rooms in total, which is not enough to live in. If we take out another room as a study, it will be even more insufficient.
Thinking of this, Fang Qiao said, "Let's build a bookcase to use for now, and we can discuss the rest with my older brother when he gets back."
Xiao Jing nodded: "Okay."
As luck would have it, Fang Qiao had just said she wanted to discuss it with Cheng Baidong when he returned pushing the twins' stroller.
Seeing that no one was behind him, Fang Qiao asked, "Why is it only you who came back with the two little ones? Where are Tian Tian and An An?"
"It got dark and there were a lot of mosquitoes outside, so I took the two little ones back first," Cheng Bodong explained. "Tian Tian and An An are still playing jump rope with people in the square and don't want to come back. I thought I'd let them play for a while and call them back after dinner."
Fang Qiao nodded: "That's fine. Anyway, they're both grown up and can play by themselves now, so the house can finally be quiet for a while."
Fortunately, all the children were carrying Cheng Baidong's amulets, so their safety was not a concern.
Cheng Baidong asked, "What were you talking about just now? It sounded like you wanted to discuss something with me?"
"There is something I need to do. I want to tidy up the room where we store miscellaneous items and build a bookcase to use as a study for now. Xiaojing said that the lighting in the back is not good, so why not move it to the sunny room on the south side and build another desk, so that it can be used as a study for the children to read and write in the future."
I think Xiaojing's idea is excellent. Our child definitely needs to study hard, and having a dedicated study room is certainly better than nothing. But the problem is, we don't have that many rooms.
Fang Qiao shrugged helplessly and expressed her concern to Cheng Baidong about not having enough rooms: "I hadn't thought that far ahead, but now that I'm talking to Xiao Jing about it, I have to think about where we'll stay."
The kids are still young, so we have enough space now. But as they grow older, they can't always sleep in the same room with us. What will we do then? Should we create a study or not?
