Chapter 255 Kitten

“Go, but there’s a big tiger outside, it’s too dangerous, I’m worried. If I don’t go, today is a workday, if I skip class and get punished, I won’t get the big red flower and I’ll be crying again.” Fang Qiao worried.

Jiang Ling: "Let's wait a little longer, maybe we'll hear something soon."

Fang Qiao nodded: "That's the only way."

The sky was overcast, with dark clouds obscuring the sun, which had not yet come out.

Around seven o'clock, a light drizzle began to fall from the sky.

As the autumn rain brought a chill, Fang Qiao, wearing only a shirt, felt the real cold under the eaves and went upstairs to put on a light jacket.

Just then, the company's public address system came on.

"Notice! Notice! A tiger has escaped from the nearby zoo. After a night of patrolling and searching, it is still missing. In order to ensure the safety of our employees and their families, the gate has been closed. No entry, no exit! No entry, no exit! Furthermore, the company leaders have unanimously decided that today is a holiday. Please stay at home as much as possible and do not go out."

"I'll repeat myself! A tiger has escaped from the nearby zoo..."

The broadcast played three times in a row. After listening to it, Fang Qiao no longer needed to worry about whether Tian Tian could go to school, since the gates were closed.

However, this tiger's counter-surveillance capabilities are truly impressive.

Old Chen next door is a veteran who has been on the battlefield, and he has so many capable soldiers under his command. It's quite strange that even with so many 'professionals' on the job, they still couldn't catch this escaped tiger.

Having no work or school to attend, Fang Qiao would spend her time drawing with the children in the study after breakfast.

I must say, with rain falling outside the window, sitting by the window and painting while listening to the pattering rain has a unique charm.

However, children's attention span is short; after only half an hour, they put down their paintbrushes and started playing hide-and-seek.

Since there was no danger at home anyway, Fang Qiao decided not to follow him closely. She took a junior high school Chinese textbook, sat in the living room, and recited classical Chinese texts while keeping an eye on things out of the corner of her eye.

She has a good memory, and the noise in her ears didn't affect her much.

After the children played hide-and-seek, she recited a long text.

In the second round, Sweetie searches for people while the others hide.

Fang Qiao saw Chuan Chuan lying on the restaurant floor, sticking his butt out, lifting the curtain covering the bench, and crawling under the bench.

Luckily, he's small enough to squeeze in successfully; if it were An'an or Tiantian, they would definitely get stuck.

Fang Qiao couldn't help but chuckle.

However, this place was indeed well-protected. Sweetie ran up and down several times but couldn't find him. She was so anxious that she kept pacing around.

"He's really good at hiding." Tian Tian turned to Fang Qiao for help: "Auntie, Auntie, you've been sitting here the whole time, have you seen where Chuan Chuan is hiding?"

Fang Qiao shook her head: "No."

As a responsible parent, you should not help any child cheat.

"You really didn't see it?" Sweetie persisted.

Fang Qiao: "Really not."

"Oh well."

Sweetie continued searching in other places.

Unable to find him inside, she ran to the eaves to try and look outside. Fang Qiao helplessly reminded her, "Sweetie, it's raining outside. Your little brother isn't outside."

Sweetie knew it was raining outside, so Chuan Chuan couldn't possibly run outside to hide, but she couldn't find him anywhere, so she decided to try her luck outside.

After being reminded by Fang Qiao, she had no choice but to go back into the house. Just as she turned around, she seemed to hear a faint cry.

"Huh? What's that sound?"

Sweetie stopped and looked back.

The autumn wind rustled the plants in the vegetable garden, and the leaves swayed back and forth in the wind and rain, without anything unusual happening.

Sweetie frowned and looked away.

Just as I was about to turn around, the faint voice rang out again.

Meow~

This time, Sweetie heard it clearly; it was a meow, a soft, babyish sound, probably from a kitten.

"Why is a cat meowing in the house when it's raining?"

Sweetie looked in the direction of the sound and observed for a long time before finally pinpointing the source of the noise—the southwest corner of the courtyard next to the gate.

You can't see anything clearly through the vegetable garden.

Moreover, it was raining, so she couldn't go out to see.

She turned and called out, "Auntie, can you hear a cat meowing?"

"I heard it, what's wrong?" Fang Qiao heard some of it from inside the house, but not clearly, and thought it was the cat that the neighbors kept.

"The cat seems to be at our house." Sweetie pointed towards the front door: "Over there."

"Really?" Fang Qiao stood up and put down her book.

Sweetie nodded: "Yes, it's right at our house. Auntie, do you want to take an umbrella and go check on it? It's raining so hard, the kitten won't get wet."

As Fang Qiao walked from inside the house to the door, she finally heard the cat's meow clearly.

The voice was weak and childlike, and it definitely sounded like a kitten.

With such heavy rain, if the kitten is left to get soaked, it could indeed get badly wet.

These days, there aren't many pet hospitals, so if kittens get sick, they can only tough it out, and the survival rate is really low.

Seeing Tian Tian's pleading gaze, Fang Qiao couldn't help but soften her heart, nodded, and said, "Okay, I'll go take a look."

She took an umbrella from the doorway, changed into rubber shoes, and walked towards the source of the sound, holding the umbrella in her hand.

The yard was slippery after the rain. Fang Qiao carefully walked to the south wall, parted the grass by the wall, and sure enough, saw a black and white kitten hiding inside.

The kitten's fur was soaked by the rain, clinging wetly to its body. The tiny kitten curled up into a ball, making it look even smaller.

Sensing someone approaching, it bared its teeth and claws, meowing loudly. Its wide-open mouth clearly revealed sharp teeth, but they posed no real threat.

Fang Qiao bent down, grabbed it by the scruff of its neck, and lifted it up from the ground. The kitten, with its neck held, seemed to have its lifeline held, and instantly became docile.

It is very light, almost weightless, and smaller than Fang Qiao's palm. It looks to be less than a month old.

When Fang Qiao picked him up, he was still dripping wet.

Fang Qiao, holding an umbrella, led her back to the eaves and gently placed her on the ground. "Look, she really is a little kitten."

"Wow, it's so small."

Sweetie's eyes were bright and sparkling; I liked her at first sight.

She had wanted to have a cat for a long time, ever since she moved back home after the New Year, but she hadn't been able to find a suitable kitten to bring home. Unexpectedly, half a year later, a little kitten was delivered to her door.

She immediately looked at Fang Qiao and said, "Auntie, I want to keep it."

Fang Qiao hummed in agreement, offering no objection.

The kittens that came to my door on a rainy day have all been brought inside; I can't just throw them back out into the rain.

The kitten was shivering from the cold. Fang Qiao found a patched old garment and wrapped it in it. She then turned to Xiao Jing and said, "Xiao Jing, go get some warm water and give it a bath first, so it doesn't get too cold."

Since you've decided to raise it, you should raise it well.
