Chapter 266 A Fierce Curse

After breakfast, Cheng Baidong carried the white tiger cub by the scruff of its neck to his workplace, with Little Zhuque following behind to watch the excitement.

Xiao Jing went out to buy groceries, and An An insisted on going with her, so Fang Qiao let her go and took Chuan Chuan and Yue Yue to work at the daycare.

Qi Miao was a woman of few words but diligent and attentive to her work. Before Fang Qiao could even speak, she took the initiative to do the work.

With her help in the kitchen, Fang Qiao's job became much easier.

Fang Qiao made red bean paste pastries for lunch. She simplified the steps, and the method was quite simple.

Soak red beans overnight, add sugar and water, steam until cooked, then mash while hot to make the filling.

The puff pastry is made by mixing flour with sugar and then adding melted pork, kneading it into powder, and then adding water to form a smooth dough.

Divide the risen dough into even portions, flatten them, wrap the red bean filling inside, seal the edges, gently flatten them again, and finally place them in an oiled pan and cook until golden brown on both sides and the edges are dry and hard.

With Qi Miao's help, the red bean pastries were made in half the usual time.

As soon as the red bean pastry came out of the oven, Fang Qiao broke off a piece, tasted one half herself, and handed the other half to Qi Miao, "Try it, is it good?"

"It's so crispy!"

The pastry crumbled at the slightest touch. Qi Miao carefully took it, took a bite, and nodded, "Delicious."

Fang Qiao: "How's the sweetness?"

Qi Miao said, "It's alright, not very sweet."

Fang Qiao smiled and said, "It's easy to get tired of eating something too sweet, so I didn't put in too much sugar. This is just right, refreshing and not greasy. Children shouldn't eat too much sweet food either, it will cause cavities."

Qi Miao hummed in agreement and finished the rest of the pastry in two bites.

After finishing the pastries, she clapped her hands to brush off the crumbs and turned to wash the fruit. Fang Qiao, on the other hand, separated the pastries into plates and began to clean the cutting board.

Just then, a sharp female voice suddenly came from outside the house.

The woman spoke in a dialect with a heavy accent. Fang Qiao didn't understand what she was calling out at first, but she realized it was Qi Miao when she heard the second and third sounds.

She turned to look at Qi Miao.

Qi Miao looked terrified, her hands nervously clenched together and rubbing back and forth, her face deathly pale.

Fang Qiao immediately realized that the people calling her from outside were her in-laws.

"Don't be afraid." Fang Qiao walked up to her, took her trembling hand, and comforted her, "If you don't want to go out, I'll help you get rid of her."

Qi Miao looked out the window.

Through the window, you can see a lot of people gathered at the entrance of the nursery, obviously watching the excitement.

As Qi Miao failed to appear, the woman's voice grew increasingly shrill and piercing.

Because it was a dialect, Fang Qiao could only understand the general meaning.

Half a minute later, a younger voice called out again. This time, although the person was still speaking in dialect, the accent was not as strong, and Fang Qiao was finally able to hear clearly.

"Qi Miao, stop hiding! I know you're in here."

"What happened before was immature of you as a daughter-in-law, but my mother is magnanimous and won't hold it against you! Hurry up and come home with us!"

Qi Miao trembled all over. She mustered her courage, lifted the curtain and went out of the room, roaring, "Don't call me anymore, I'm not going back."

"Not going back? What do you want to do? Are you really going to get a divorce?" Qi Miao's sister-in-law pointed at Qi Miao's nose and cursed, "Stop acting up here. You surnamed Qi, don't you open your eyes and look around? What kind of woman gets divorced after marriage? You'll be laughed to death if you go out. It's only because my brother has a good temper that he spoils you. If it were any other family, they would have beaten you up long ago."
