Chapter 3 I'll Chop You Up
On his way to school, Qiao Wu compared his past experiences with his dream of the future.
The former "Qiao Wu" knew he was not the biological child of the Lu family. In order to gain a foothold here in the future, he tried every means to sow discord among everyone in the Lu family so that he could become the only trustworthy person by their side.
Of course, she didn't want this family to live in harmony. As long as the person she had chosen could have the last laugh, then she could share the entire Lu family with that person.
Thinking of this, Qiao Wu clicked on the folder at the very top.
Lu Jinzhi.
The once magnificent Lu mansion in his dream was now empty, desolate and gloomy. Lu Jinzhi was no longer the powerful and arrogant second young master of the Lu family. He sat alone on the swing in the garden, wearing a black coat, letting the torrential rain bend his back.
"roll."
This was the last word he spoke to Qiao Wu in his dream.
Calm, yet deeper than the night.
When Qiao Wu woke up, he wondered why someone with his meticulous nature would let go of the person who had harmed him so badly, but he still couldn't figure it out.
Her gaze shifted downwards, then fell upon Lu Ning's file.
Lu Ning's parents died early, and she was the only younger generation in the Lu family. She should have been the most pampered, but the old master Lu was busy with his career and even his four sons were raised by the old housekeeper. The grandparents didn't know how to get along with the young girl, but they never skimped on her food, clothing and other necessities.
In the past, "Qiao Wu" took advantage of being a girl to easily approach Lu Ning, who had lost her parents and was extremely insecure, and told her to be independent and strong. As a result, Lu Ning refused to go to a private school at a young age and only went to a regular junior high school, which made it easier for "Qiao Wu" to remotely control her.
As things were originally going, due to repeated indulgence, Lu Ning gradually developed a personality that allowed her to solve everything with money, turning into a lawless and utterly useless hoodlum.
Looking through Lu Ning's report cards from the past few years, Qiao Wu, who had always been a top student, felt his vision blur.
"Butler Qiao, we've arrived."
Qiao Wu hummed in agreement, closed his laptop, and got out of the car: "Thank you for your hard work."
Although she wasn't Lu Ning's actual parent, Mr. Lu was in the hospital, and the other uncles were rarely seen, so only she could handle this matter.
The school isn't big; you can easily find out where the infirmary is by asking around.
The campus was quiet and deserted during class time. Qiao Wu also slowed her pace. Before she had even finished climbing the steps, she suddenly heard a familiar name.
She looked up and saw two people standing under a tree next to the infirmary, one of whom was a boy with a bruised and swollen face.
Did Lu Ning make the call?
The kid looked so thin, but he hit him pretty hard.
"Anyway, it won't matter if her parents come. We're going to pay money anyway, and we might even get a little more. You'll have to watch your step when I'm around, you know?"
"I know, I'll pretend to be in even more pain, and I'll try to get as much money as I can. Mom, listen to me. Lu Ning is ill-mannered. If you say a few more words to her, she'll even curse you. In the end, it will all be her fault. Even if her grandfather comes, it won't help."
Qiao Wu smiled silently, and only after the two people entered did he lead the family doctor upstairs.
In the infirmary, Lu Ning had looked at the clock on the wall for the fifth time, her expression extremely impatient.
There shouldn't be any traffic at this time. It should only take an hour to get here from the Lu residence. Why haven't they arrived yet?
The boy who came back was too used to her like this. At times like this, as long as he provoked her, Lu Ning would definitely explode and cause trouble again. Remembering his mother's instructions, he held his head and deliberately howled, "Lu Ning, my mom has been here for a long time. Do your parents even care about you anymore? I'm in so much pain right now!"
Lu Ning slumped back in her chair, not uttering a sound.
She didn't want to talk to anyone else right now; she just wanted to vent her anger on Qiao Wu, who had broken his promise.
"How can you be so rude, child?" The boy's mother frowned as she sat down, half-protecting her son in her arms. "You should at least give me some explanation for beating my son like this. It's not the first or second time. I heard that her parents are abroad all year round. They are busy making money but they can't neglect their child's education. Teacher, you should talk to them more."
Lu Ning sneered: "My parents are in heaven. If you have such a big mouth, why don't you go and tell them?"
Everyone in the room was stunned for a moment. The boy pursed his lips and said, "No wonder. Only people without parents to teach them behave like this."
Lu Ning took a deep breath, rolled up her sleeves, stood up again, and walked towards the boy.
The homeroom teacher was startled and quickly stopped her: "Lu Ning, what are you doing?!"
But Lu Ning never listened to anyone. She shoved the homeroom teacher's hand away and stared intently at the chubby boy she was protecting in her arms: "I can afford to pay for it even if you cripple him."
Just as she grabbed the boy's collar again, a woman's voice, neither loud nor soft, came from the doorway: "Lu Ning."
Lu Ning suddenly stopped moving, glared angrily at the door, and before she could even read what people were saying, she shouted, "Why are you so late! Are you riding a turtle?!"
Qiao Wu stood at the door and felt very uncomfortable when he saw Lu Ning's red eyes.
She grew up alone, feeling wronged, with the little one she had always held in her arms and who would sweetly call her "wuwu."
When everyone followed Lu Ning's gaze and saw the young woman at the door, they were all stunned. In real life, few people can wear a suit so well and with such elegance. The woman in front of them was obviously an exception. She was exquisite and noble. Her expression was calm and gentle, yet she suppressed the temperament of everyone in the infirmary by more than half.
"And you are?" the homeroom teacher asked uncertainly.
So young, they can't be her parents, right? Didn't Lu Ning say her parents were in heaven?
Qiao Wu said gently, "Hello, I am..."
Lu Ning interrupted her: "Don't worry about that. Now that they're here, just tell me how you want to handle it. Also..."
She pointed at the chubby boy and said, "I'm going to hit him again now. You calculate how much it will cost."
Others: "..."
Qiao Wu sighed softly.
You tell me, if they don't rip you off, who else would they rip off?
"Come here." She beckoned to Lu Ning.
Lu Ning asked incredulously, "Are you ordering me around?"
There was no hope of the child being well-behaved, so Qiao Wu stepped forward, grasped her fair wrist with her sleeves rolled up, and gently pulled her to his side.
Lu Ning immediately bristled: "I told you not to touch me!"
No matter how much she struggled, Qiao Wu held her wrist firmly.
"Don't move." Qiao Wu leaned down and whispered in her ear, "The bodyguards are downstairs. Do you want so many people to see you being held down by them?"
Lu Ning's face darkened instantly after being forcibly put into the car that morning: "Orders and threats, you really have guts..."
"Feel sorry."
Lu Ning was stunned.
"I prepared some things and got late." Qiao Wu said, squatting down and rolling up her soiled school uniform pants to her knees. He noticed the marks on them, then glanced at the back of her hands and asked, "Why didn't you take care of your injuries?"
The homeroom teacher quickly explained, "Lu Ning wouldn't let the school doctor touch her, saying she wasn't in pain."
"How could there be a wound that doesn't hurt?" Qiao Wu stood up, gently pressed her brow, and smiled, "Your eyes are all red."
"Whose eyes are red! It's just a minor injury." Lu Ning was still immersed in the apology she had just received.
In fact, whenever she lost her temper, Qiao Wu would always apologize immediately, but this time the feeling made her very uncomfortable, because she couldn't detect any perfunctory or ingratiating attitude. Why was she smiling so... so gently!
Qiao Wu didn't know what she was daydreaming about: "I brought the family doctor with me, let her take a look at you."
"I'm not in pain, I want to hit someone right now."
"good."
Lu Ning's head was rubbed, and her body stiffened, her ears turning slightly red.
The chubby boy's mother, who wasn't there to see their family harmony, quickly steered the conversation to herself: "Lu Ning's parents, why don't you take a look at my child's injuries first? My child's injuries are clearly more serious than yours. Even if you have money, you can't do whatever you want."
She thought she was so amazing. What could such a young woman accomplish? She was determined to squeeze as much money out of her!
Upon hearing this, Qiao Wu turned around, his expression becoming much calmer: "Then let's call the police."
Those four simple and direct words stunned everyone into silence for a long time.
"It's just kids fighting, why call the police?" The chubby boy's mother didn't want to escalate the situation. "But your child beat my child up like this, you have to pay for the medical expenses, right?"
Qiao Wu nodded and asked, "How much do you want?"
Lu Ning, who was being treated by the doctor, bit her lip upon hearing this.
Just like before, she can settle things by paying money, as if no matter how big a mess she makes, money can solve everything.
"Taking the child to the hospital for a full check-up, five thousand yuan for medical expenses plus compensation for emotional distress is not unreasonable, is it?"
"Mom, she also ruined my clothes, schoolbag, and stationery."
"Then six thousand!"
The mother and son sang in unison, and Qiao Wu didn't interrupt them, but simply took out his phone and tapped the screen a few times.
The chubby girl's mother thought she wanted to transfer money, so she immediately took out her phone and handed it over: "Scan me to receive payment..."
Unexpectedly, after she received the money, Qiao Wu's phone suddenly switched to the dial pad. Upon seeing the number 110, she exclaimed, "What are you doing!"
“I will take your child to the hospital for a medical examination. We will cover all the expenses, and I will also make sure he completes every single test.” Qiao Wu said calmly.
"Then why did you call the police? It was just kids fighting!"
Qiao Wu chuckled: "Who said I called the police because the kids were fighting? This big guy can't beat a little girl, I'd be ashamed to call the police."
The chubby boy was so angry that his neck turned red, but luckily his mother held him down: "Then why did you do that?"
Qiao Wu: "You instigated your child to commit extortion."
How did it escalate to extortion? The homeroom teacher asked, bewildered, "What did you say?"
“I heard everything clearly outside. Is there any other problem?” Qiao Wu pointed to the tree outside. “Six thousand is enough to file a case. Furthermore, since you are demanding compensation for emotional distress, you need to hire a lawyer to talk to my legal team. I will have my legal team sue you for extortion immediately.”
Ordinary families would never have heard of such things, and the chubby boy's mother was immediately terrified: "My child is a minor!"
"So we're suing you." Qiao Wu was tall and wearing high heels. When she looked at the mother, her gaze was slightly downward, exuding a strong sense of pressure. "You say my child has no one to teach him. Well, I'd like to let your child see in court how you teach him."
The boy addressed the boy with the respectful "you" in a formal, polite manner, but the chubby boy's mother felt humiliated.
Especially since she did say such a thing.
She really didn't intend to take her child to the hospital for a check-up; a minor injury wasn't a big deal, as long as she had the money.
Now she's completely humiliated, and she's looking down at the ground, not daring to say another word.
This was within Qiao Wu's expectations. These people were mercenary and short-sighted; they didn't even need recordings or evidence. A few simple words were enough to shatter their defenses.
Not hearing the other person speak again, she looked at the stunned homeroom teacher and said, "And I need to see the surveillance footage of what happened. My Lu Ning wouldn't do something without reason."
Lu Ning suddenly looked up.
Qiao Wu opened the computer he had been holding, and one of the folders contained records of the time, place, and compensation for every conflict Lu Ning had with someone in the past.
She pushed the screen in front of the teacher: "Before, I was abroad and couldn't come in person. Today, I want to understand the cause and effect of each case. Please ask the parents of those students to come as well."
The infirmary was so quiet you could hear a pin drop. The young woman standing next to Lu Ning stood gracefully, her eyes behind her glasses calm and deep, her voice resolute: "Now that the money has been paid, it's time for us to settle the other accounts."
No one expected that someone so young would have such a meticulous mind and such a strong presence.
Qiao Wu remained completely calm throughout. She gracefully extended her hand to the homeroom teacher and said, "I forgot to introduce myself. I am Lu Ning's housekeeper, Qiao Wu."
Her tone remained gentle, but the homeroom teacher was so surprised that she forgot to shake hands.
Given the status and social circle of anyone present, they would never have the opportunity to meet such a person.
Qiao Wu grew up in the Lu family mansion, receiving a top-tier elite education and surrounded by successful people. If it weren't for that inexplicable plot in the novel, how could she have become so stupid and fearless?
At this moment, the chubby boy and his mother were as quiet as chickens. While waiting for the other students to arrive, Lu Ning stared at her treated wound in silence for a long time before she realized that Qiao Wu had said he was late because he had gone to prepare those materials.
She nudged Qiao Wu's toe: "Hey."
Qiao Wu, who was watching the surveillance footage, tilted his head slightly: "Hmm?"
"Why do you think I wouldn't act without reason?" Lu Ning asked in a muffled voice.
Although Qiao Wu had always thought that whatever she did was right, this feeling was different, and Lu Ning couldn't figure it out.
"I don't think so," Qiao Wu said honestly. "If you did it on purpose, you'll still have to apologize when people come."
Although Lu Ning was somewhat indulged, she had been abroad for the past two years and was unaware of many things. There was no guarantee that Lu Ning wouldn't cause trouble.
Lu Ning: "..."
Make her apologize?!
The word "apology" doesn't exist in my dictionary!
"Now we have it."
"Qiao Wu, whose side are you here to help?" Lu Ning said irritably. "Just do your job and don't meddle in things that aren't your business, understand?"
Qiao Wu gently touched her head with his forehead: "Lu Ning, being independent doesn't mean you lack responsibility."
"Who hasn't taken responsibility!"
"Okay, then apologize if you make a mistake later." Qiao Wu chuckled. "I don't want the bodyguard to have to come up here again."
“…Lu Yingchi is right, you’re becoming less and less able to distinguish between the king and the queen.”
After finishing speaking, he realized that Qiao Wu wasn't listening at all. He frowned and looked over, only to find that his attention had been drawn to the surveillance camera, which was currently playing a replay of the morning...
"Stop looking!" Lu Ning stood up and covered the screen.
It's so shameful that they started fighting over a few dumplings that got knocked over.
But when she turned her head, she met Qiao Wu's gaze, quiet and still, as if she felt sorry for him.
"Sorry I'm late," Qiao Wu said again.
Lu Ning didn't know what she meant by repeating it again, but her eyes inexplicably felt sore.
"Who cares about you?"
Qiao Wu guessed correctly. Although Lu Ning always got into conflicts with people at school, apart from the first few times when both sides had their own problems, most of the later ones were because those people knew that she was unmanaged and could be settled with money when something happened, so they deliberately came to cause trouble.
As a result, Lu Ning didn't apologize many times. Perhaps she was genuinely worried about the bodyguards coming up, so she honestly apologized.
After resolving everything, she also brought Lu Ning home.
Lu Ning was unusually quiet. After returning home, she went to her room. Qiao Wu could also calm down and deal with the lawyer's matters. She did not scare the parents. She had to let them know her methods so that Lu Ning would not be watched in the future. Anyway, the Lu family has a legal team that is specifically responsible for the family's life.
The door was kicked hard with a bang.
After meeting Lu Yingchi's provocative gaze, she lowered her head again.
childish.
Lu Yingchi was even more annoyed when he saw this. He had been forced to work 8 a.m. early in the morning, and he was like a fireball all day. He didn't even have the energy to go out for drinks at night and just wanted to go home and catch up on sleep. The culprit was at home, enjoying his comfort.
He stepped forward and threatened, "Qiao Wu, if you dare to ring that damn bell again tomorrow, I'll chop your hand off."
Qiao Wu hummed in response, without raising his head, but stretched out his hand on the table, his meaning quite clear.
Chop it up, I still want to press it.
Lu Yingchi was provoked and chopped her wrist with a chop, the sound of which echoed on the table. A red mark immediately appeared on her slender, white wrist.
Qiao Wu then slowly raised his head.
Remembering how she had let go of his hand that morning because of that look in her eyes, Lu Yingchi was very defiant: "You told me to chop it up, I haven't even really started yet!"
It's her own fault for not hiding.
Qiao Wu didn't speak, but casually pulled out the knife from the fruit plate, slammed the scabbard onto the table with a clatter, and slightly raised his chin.
“Lu Yingchi,” she said, “either you chop off my hand today, or you get up at 6:30 tomorrow.”
Lu Yingchi: "?"
Damn? Why is it happening ahead of schedule?
She even provoked me back?!
