Chapter 4: He Has No Home
He examined the handwriting more closely, as if trying to confirm something.
Finally, his well-defined hand slowly fell down, and the paper, wet from his body, instantly blurred the ink.
After dropping the note, he gave a self-deprecating laugh.
He then walked slowly along the riverbank. Passersby saw that he was soaking wet and looked at him with a mixture of pity and sympathy.
"Mommy, Mommy, why is that boy all wet?"
"Brother must be heartbroken."
The mother picked up the child, and as she was about to leave, the child suddenly handed his fox mask to the soaking wet man, saying, "Brother, don't be sad, I'll give this to you."
His fingertips were still wet with water droplets, but he reached out and took the fox mask, saying in a slightly hoarse voice, "Thank you."
The little boy was taken away by his mother.
He put on the fox mask and walked aimlessly through the bustling crowd.
Gu Yuanyuan held Su Hengyi's hand as they watched the fireworks and prepared to go home.
They walked towards the exit, playing around as they went. Gu Yuanyuan was carrying a lot of things, all of which were local specialties that the shopkeepers had tricked him into buying because they thought he was easy to fool.
He had some things he couldn't bring up, so he asked Su Hengyi to bring some up as well.
Gu Yuanyuan said something to Su Hengyi, but Su Hengyi didn't react. However, Gu Yuanyuan suddenly laughed very happily, then bumped into someone, felt a pain in his shoulder, and dropped a box of candy on the ground.
He frowned unhappily at the person wearing the fox mask, "Watch where you're going."
The man stood still, looking through his mask at Su Hengyi standing next to Gu Yuanyuan.
Actually, they are a perfect match; he realized that a long time ago.
Gu Yuanyuan was still complaining, "You knocked all my candy away."
Su Hengyi squatted down to pick up the scattered candies, and the other person also squatted down. He went to pick up the candy with the shiny green wrapper, and Su Hengyi's hand happened to reach out at that moment.
The fox-masked man's cold fingertips touched Su Hengyi's fingers, and Su Hengyi quickly withdrew his hand. He stood up and handed the candy to Gu Yuanyuan.
Gu Yuanyuan accepted it like a precious treasure, "Considering that Brother Su picked up the candy for me, I won't hold it against him. Let's go."
Gu Yuanyuan took Su Hengyi's hand as they were leaving.
Another hand reached out and handed over the candy.
"You're blocking my way. What are you doing here? Are you after money?"
Gu Yuanyuan casually took out a hundred yuan from her pocket. "Here you go."
The person didn't want it, but just held up the candy.
Gu Yuanyuan reached out and slapped his hand away. "Are you crazy? Don't block my way!"
He took Su Hengyi with him and left.
The person wearing the fox mask stood still, unwrapped the candy, and popped the candy into their mouth.
It's supposed to be sugar, but it's so bitter.
He stood alone in the crowd. Su Hengyi wanted to turn around and take a look, but Gu Yuanyuan peeled a piece of candy and held it to his lips.
"Brother Su, have some candy. I think this candy is the best. It's just the right balance of sweet and sour."
Looking at Gu Yuanyuan's smiling face and the candy being offered to her lips as if she would have to keep holding it until she ate it.
Su Hengyi lowered his head and ate the candy.
Gu Yuanyuan rummaged through the box, found a candy with the same wrapper, peeled it off, and popped it into her mouth.
My heart is sweeter than sugar.
the next day.
Su Hengyi suddenly received a message that he would take Gu Yuanyuan with him to sign a contract with Su Xinsheng.
A man wearing a silver mask sat behind the desk, gesturing for Su Hengyi and Gu Yuanyuan to sit down.
The assistant explained, "Our boss has a severe sore throat from a cold and can't speak, but he said it won't affect signing the contract."
Su Hengyi sat down in front of Su Xinsheng, who took the contract and signed it without even looking at it.
"You trust me a lot?"
Su Heng asked the person opposite him.
The man silently pushed the contract towards Su Hengyi.
Su Hengyi wasn't in a hurry to sign. "You want to see me? Is there something you need?"
The emotions in the eyes beneath the mask became inscrutable, and then Su Xinsheng shook her head, meaning 'it's nothing'.
"Then why do you want to sign in person? Don't you trust me?"
Su Hengyi asked this question.
The assistant explained with a smile, "Young Master Su, if our boss didn't trust you, why would he sign the contract without even reading it?"
Su Heng asked in return, "Yes, why?"
Su Heng stared at the person in the silver mask, feeling a strange sense of familiarity, even though he knew it was impossible.
Su Xinsheng seemed to smile as he took a piece of white paper from his desk.
Then he wrote down a sentence: 'I've long admired your name and wanted to meet the legendary Young Master Su. I was afraid my status wasn't high enough for you to see me, so I made up a clumsy excuse. Please excuse my poor attempt at explanation.'
Su Hengyi noticed that Su Xinsheng wrote with his left hand. His handwriting was beautiful, with sharp, aggressive strokes.
It doesn't resemble the scrawled handwriting I remember at all; it's not the same person.
Su Hengyi dispelled his doubts. He nodded slightly, acknowledging Su Xinsheng's desire to see him. Then, he picked up his own pen and signed the contract.
Su Xinsheng wrote on the paper again, "I'm not feeling well, I'll treat you to dinner another day."
This is a way of telling them to leave.
Su Hengyi didn't linger. He stood up, and Gu Yuanyuan sat beside him. Since he was leaving, he naturally stood up as well.
Judging from this, the two of them are truly in love.
As Su Hengyi turned to leave, Su Xinsheng suddenly reached out his hand, as if to shake hands with Su Hengyi.
His face was completely covered by the silver mask, and he faced Su Hengyi directly with the mask. His eyes, hidden in the round eye holes of the mask, were slightly concealed by the darkness, making it impossible to discern his emotions.
It's hard to fathom, but someone who can split the Mu family's power and grow stronger within two years must be a person with both cunning and shrewdness.
It's best not to make an enemy of someone like that.
Su Hengyi stretched out his hand.
When their palms touched, Su Xinsheng's hand tightened suddenly, gripping Su Hengyi so tightly that it didn't seem like hatred, but rather like he was suppressing some kind of emotion, so much so that his fingers trembled slightly.
Su Hengyi looked up at him, but before he could figure out what emotions Su Hengyi was suppressing, Su Xinsheng released him.
He withdrew his hand, then sat down in his office chair, picked up a document to process, and acted as if he were very busy.
Gu Yuanyuan immediately became dissatisfied. People are generally able to easily sense hostility. He cautiously grabbed Su Hengyi's hand as Su Hengyi withdrew his hand.
How could she let another man hold her husband's hand?
The assistant gestured for Su Hengyi and Gu Yuanyuan to leave.
As he reached the door, Su Heng glanced back at Su Xinsheng, who was sitting behind his desk, and his brows furrowed almost imperceptibly.
Su Xinsheng seemed to be so engrossed in his official duties that he lost all awareness of his surroundings.
Gu Yuanyuan was immediately displeased when she saw Su Hengyi turn back to look. "Brother Su is gone, why are you still looking at him? What's so interesting about a disfigured man wearing a mask?!"
Gu Yuanyuan's jealousy was so intense that Su Hengyi glanced at him and said, "You haven't gone far yet, you think he can hear you."
"So what if I can hear you? I'm still begging you to cooperate. I'm not afraid."
"Speak less."
"He has ulterior motives towards you, I don't care, Su-ge, you stay away from him!"
Gu Yuanyuan's domineering voice revealed a strong possessiveness towards Su Hengyi.
Su Hengyi remained silent, it was unclear whether he didn't want to respond or acquiesced.
Once their figures had disappeared, Su Xinsheng reached out and removed the silver mask from her face. The face beneath the mask was not disfigured; on the contrary, it had lost its youthful appearance and gained a sharp, cold beauty.
It was Mu Guangcheng two years later.
He stared at the document in front of him, but couldn't concentrate on reading a single word.
Mu Guangcheng never imagined that his reunion with Su Hengyi would be completely different from what he had envisioned. Their reunion left him without even the courage to remove his mask.
Su Hengyi, who said he would give him a home, ended up giving his home to someone else.
Mu Guangcheng has lost his home once again.
Mu Guangcheng sat in the swivel chair, looked down and laughed as if he found it funny. Suddenly, hot tears fell from his eyes.
Who would have thought that Su Hengyi, who once came from a poor family and ran a scrap metal recycling station, was actually the only son of the Su Group, which was known all over the world?
Mu Guangcheng thought that in just two years, he could go find his poor boyfriend who had studied at a prestigious university, with all his success and fame.
He could imagine how overjoyed his boyfriend, whose family collected recyclables, would be to see him.
They will no longer have to worry about money. He can buy Su Hengyi a big house, shut down the family's scrap metal recycling station, and let Su Hengyi's parents, who have worked hard all their lives, enjoy their old age in comfort.
If Su Hengyi, that bookworm, wanted to pursue a doctorate and do scientific research, he would unconditionally support him.
They will have their own big house or villa in the capital, and they will never have to worry about money again. Su Heng will no longer have to live that poor life of picking up scraps.
He had planned so well, and he thought Su Hengyi would wait for him. It was only two years, just two years, not a long time.
But......
How did it come to this?
The wealth he thought he possessed was, in fact, something that Su Hengyi had always disdained the most.
It turns out that the good things he thought he could give him were things he didn't need at all.
For the first time, Mu Guangcheng realized that the poor one wasn't Su Hengyi, but himself. He was so impoverished, so impoverished, that he was utterly unworthy of the wonderful Su Hengyi. He used to think Su Hengyi was the same kind of person as him, but now he realized that the unworthy one was only himself.
As expected, fairy tales are all lies. How could a prince fall in love with a shabby little boy? A prince is destined to love another prince, and their love is considered by the world to be a perfect match.
Mu Guangcheng covered his face, going from silence to sobbing. Sorrow filled the air, so painful, just like his bleeding heart.
He didn't use two years to achieve a love where he and Su Hengyi redeemed each other; he used two years to completely lose Su Hengyi.
