Chapter 43: Eternal Day (Part 7) Eat

Chapter 43: Eternal Day (Part 7) Eat

Wen Yin's breath still lingered with a nauseating smell. She returned to the bustling lobby, where a staff member greeted her politely and professionally, "Good morning, ma'am. Dining is on the right."

Wen Yin maintained her persona and nodded slightly, then said to the staff member, "Send a light breakfast to my room in twenty minutes."

After saying that, she told me her room number.

Wen Yin was very hungry, but the first thing she had to do now was to go back and change out of the clothes that were stained with a disgusting smell.

"Okay ma'am, I'll bring it to you later."

The staff member smiled and nodded, as if she didn't smell anything strange. However, several passengers who passed by her looked back at her with dissatisfaction.

[028, I'll assign you a task.]

Wen Yin no longer paid attention to other people's expressions and just walked towards the guest room.

[From now on, keep an eye on the servant we just met in the hold. If you see anything unusual, report it to me immediately.]

[OK. ]

028 did not ask for reasons, it instinctively trusted the decisions and judgments made by its host.

[Host, if you have any questions, feel free to call me. I'm here.]

Wen Yin's voice softened a bit.

[Well, go ahead.]

-

As Wen Yin returned to her room and opened the door, a refreshing scent of sea salt mixed with fir hit her face.

The smell came from the room itself, making the subtle stench of decay on her body seem particularly abrupt in the clean air.

She wrinkled her nose subconsciously.

At this moment, the bathroom door seemed to open a crack. Wen Yin turned her head and met Cangli's gaze from the bathtub.

The moment those deep blue eyes saw her, they seemed to light up, and at the same time, the wings of his nose twitched very slightly, as if he was sniffing the air.

Then he frowned, and when he met Wen Yin's gaze, he quickly lowered his head and buried himself deeper in the water, leaving only a few tiny bubbles on the surface of the water.

Is this... the scent that lingers on her?

Wen Yin didn't look at Cangli in the bathroom anymore. She took her clothes and went straight to another independent guest bathroom in the suite.

The guest bathroom is smaller than the master bedroom, but equally luxurious.

Wen Yin locked the door and turned on the shower head. Warm water poured down from above her head, washing her tired body and tense nerves.

Water vapor quickly evaporated, filling the entire space, shrouding the smooth tiles, gold-plated hardware and huge mirrors in a hazy atmosphere.

Wen Yin closed her eyes, the water washed over her cheeks, and the bath products, with their refreshing sea salt scent, spread in the dense foam.

The milky white foam meandered down along the skin, and with the sound of dripping water, it finally flowed into the swirling drain.

Wen Yin suddenly opened her eyes.

An extremely subtle, yet unignorable strange feeling, like an icy snake, quietly wrapped around her perception.

Not the sound. Not the smell.

It's a feeling of being watched.

The mist blurred the vision, and the huge mirror in the bathroom was also covered with a layer of mist.

Wen Yin wiped away the water droplets gathered on her eyelashes and looked at her pale, naked body vaguely visible in the mirror.

She blinked.

The feeling of being watched disappeared.

She turned her head to look towards the frosted glass door. There was silence outside, no movement at all.

The water was still flowing down along the skin, and the touch of it was warm and gentle.

Wen Yin exhaled lightly, rinsed away the accumulated foam, turned around and turned off the shower.

The sound of running water suddenly stopped. She grabbed a towel and wrapped herself tightly.

A few minutes later, when Wen Yin came out of the guest bathroom wrapped in a bathrobe and wiping her wet hair, the doorbell rang.

She adjusted her bathrobe, put on the half-mask, and opened the door.

The person standing outside the door was not any servant she had ever seen.

This was a completely unfamiliar face, also wearing a neat white uniform and snow-white gloves.

He was pushing a food cart in his hand with a respectful attitude.

"Ma'am, your breakfast." The strange servant bowed slightly and spoke in a steady voice.

However, just as he raised his head and his eyes fell on Wen Yin, his body seemed to tremble very slightly.

As his fingers pushing the food cart tightened slightly, his Adam's apple above the bow tie even rolled unconsciously.

Wen Yin's heart instantly rose, and her hands hidden under her bathrobe clenched quietly.

She calmly stepped aside and said, "Push it in and put it in the small hall."

"Yes, ma'am."

The attendant's voice remained steady, but when he pushed the cart in, his movements were slightly slow.

He placed the exquisite meals on the small round table one by one, but his eyes always involuntarily and quickly glanced towards Wen Yin, especially her neck and calves exposed outside her bathrobe.

Just as he swallowed involuntarily again and looked at Wen Yin, a sound of water splashing came from the direction of the bathroom.

Wen Yin turned around and found that Cangli had used his tail to open the door a crack. His mermaid-like blue eyes were looking at them through the crack.

The strange servant instinctively looked in the direction of the sound. The next second, he suddenly lowered his head and his breathing became a little rapid, as if he had just woken up from a nightmare.

He quickly arranged the last bit of tablecloth, his voice carrying a barely perceptible hint of panic.

"Ma'am... please, enjoy your meal."

"Also, the captain's office just announced that a captain's dinner will be held tonight...tonight at 8 o'clock sharp."

He paused, as if trying to calm himself down, and his voice became slightly steadier.

"This is the Captain's first public appearance in three years. All distinguished guests... must be dressed in their finery."

After saying that, he bowed his head, never looking at Wen Yin again, and quickly left the room pushing the food cart.

The door is closed.

Wen Yin stood there, looking thoughtfully at the closed door of the bathroom. After the servant left, Cangli's tail sank into the water again.

-

She dried her hair and changed into comfortable clothes.

The exquisite lunch exuded an enticing aroma, and she was indeed hungry after a busy morning.

She picked up her knife and fork and began to enjoy the perfectly grilled cod.

While eating, she suddenly felt a gaze.

Wen Yin raised her head and saw that the bathroom door had been pushed open a little wider at some point.

Cangli had sat up straight from the water at some point, her wet sea-blue hair casually gathered to one side, revealing her graceful neck and clear collarbone.

The dark blue eyes watched her without blinking... eating.

The fear on his face seemed to fade a little, replaced by pure curiosity and a hint of indescribable concentration.

Wen Yin looked at the fish on her plate, then looked at Cangli.

She hesitated for a moment, then cut off a small piece of snow-white fish with a table knife. She walked to the bathroom door but did not go in. She simply placed the steaming piece of fish gently on the dry, smooth marble countertop at the edge of the bathtub, some distance from the water.

"Eat." Her voice was flat.

Cangli's gaze always followed Wen Yin closely.

He looked at the fish, then quickly raised his eyes to look at Wen Yin standing at the door. After a few seconds, he moved.

The pale, slender hand with translucent webbed fingers slowly rose from the water.

Drops of water rolled down the smooth lines of his arm muscles and dripped back into the bathtub. His movements were elegant and ingrained in his bones, without a trace of urgency or embarrassment.

Cangli gently picked up the piece of fish meat that was still warm with her fingertips.

His fingers were bony and his nails had a mother-of-pearl sheen that shimmered in the soft bathroom light.

He brought the fish to his lips, but his eyes were still fixed on Wen Yin's face.

The lips, light in color and as if washed by sea water, opened slightly, just enough to accommodate the snow-white fish meat.

His chewing movements were so subtle that the visible movement of his cheek muscles was almost invisible.

Only the jaw with clear lines opened and closed extremely slowly and restrainedly, causing the protruding Adam's apple to roll up and down very slightly as he swallowed.

Just as he was chewing and swallowing, Wen Yin discovered that under the sea-blue hair behind his earlobes, there were several exquisite ear fins.

The tiny blue scales, as fine as sand, look like carefully inlaid enamel, extending from behind the ear to the base of the ear fin.

At this moment, as he chewed and swallowed, the translucent blue ear fins also flared rhythmically.

Against the backdrop of light and water vapor, it is breathtakingly beautiful and has an inhuman charm.

He sat in the warm water of the bathtub, his wet hair draped over his shoulders, his ear fins trembling, his delicate blue scales shimmering with movement, turning something as ordinary as eating into a visual feast of fragility and elegance.

But the gaze that fell on Wen Yin made Wen Yin inexplicably have the illusion that she was the piece of fish.

Wen Yin withdrew her gaze and returned to the dining table.

The silver fork made a crisp sound when it touched the plate, which was particularly clear in the quiet room.

She lowered her head and gently fiddled with the few remaining pieces of snow-white fish on the plate, but did not put them into her mouth immediately.

Suddenly, Wen Yin spoke without warning, and her gentle voice echoed in the room.

"Cangli, have you seen the owner of the ship?"

As the words fell, the room fell silent.

Wen Yin naturally didn't get an answer.

She smiled and turned her head to look at Cangli in the bathtub, who was looking back at her with a puzzled and helpless expression.

After a long time, he finally shook his head slowly.

Along with this denial, the scarred dark blue scaly tail that sank into the water slapped the water surface very lightly with its tail fin, making a light "click" sound and splashing a few tiny water droplets.

"Never mind if I've never seen it."

Wen Yin withdrew her gaze, and casually, nonchalantly yet precisely picked up the last piece of translucent fish fillet on the plate and put it into her mouth.

While chewing slowly, her eyes turned to Cangli again.

"You mermaids were tortured so badly by the ship owner,"

Her gaze swept across the hideous, gel-covered wound on his shoulder blade, slid across the dull, broken scales, and finally fell back into his deep blue eyes.

"You must hate him."

Without waiting for any response from Cangli, Wen Yin immediately threw out the next sentence. Her tone was as calm as if she was discussing the weather, but the content was earth-shattering:

"Cangli, I'll let you go back to the sea, okay?"
