Chapter 13 Mental Test

Auckland walked straight towards the elevator, completely unaware of the complex psychological state of the girl beside him. Even if he had noticed, he probably wouldn't have cared. After all... she was just a stranger.

Until she arrived at the door of the mental examination room, Casey still couldn't find a chance to talk to Oakland. On the one hand, she couldn't wipe away that face, and on the other hand, Oakland's attitude kept her at a distance.

"We're here... this is it..." Casey carefully observed Auckland's expression.

Auckland nodded, indicating that he had heard her, but he had no intention of saying anything more to her.

There are many people who are injured or feel unwell during daily training in the military academy, so there is a queue for physical examinations, but there are very few people in the mental strength testing room. There is only one short student queuing at the door of the testing room.

When the student entered the testing room, Oakland walked to the door and waited.

The doctor in charge of testing the mental power was a very gentle-looking female doctor. She had a gentle smile on her face and softly greeted the somewhat nervous student, "Hello, you are Sam, right? My name is Jenny."

"Hello, Dr. Jenny."

Doctor Jenny smiled and asked the somewhat nervous student why he came to check his mental strength.

"I-I want to transfer to the Heraldry Department." Sam, a sophomore in the Mecha Combat Department, was an average C+ physical grade. However, due to his height, he was often teased by his classmates, which caused him considerable mental stress. He made a serious mistake during his sophomore final combat assessment and now faces the daunting prospect of repeating the year. He could even be demoted from Corporal First Class to Private First Class, which would mean all his two years of hard work would be wasted. However, his mental strength was higher than his physical strength, and he wanted to try transferring to the Heraldry Department to change the trajectory of his life.

"Then let's test it." Dr. Jenny felt very sympathetic after hearing what Sam said, so she asked him to sit down.

After plugging the lead wire into the lead socket of an electronic instrument and sticking disposable electrodes on both sides of his temples, he was put on a virtual reality head-mounted display device.

"Now, concentrate, use your mental strength, and stretch forward with all your strength." The female doctor's voice was very soft.

Then, a rapidly fluctuating wave line appeared on the display screen of the electronic instrument. Like climbing a mountain, the peak slowly rose and finally stopped at a certain position, which was recorded by the female doctor.

The female doctor pressed a few buttons on the instrument and spoke again, "Now, based on the image in front of you, try to depict it with your mental power."

Then, the picture on the display screen turned white, and a red cursor began to move on the white screen, drawing lines of varying thicknesses, which eventually formed a weird shape.

"Okay." The female doctor turned off the electronic equipment and removed all the testing equipment from the student.

"Sam, your spirit level is B, but your palm control ability is only D. I'm sorry that you still can't meet the transfer requirements of the Heraldry Department. You should continue to study hard in the Mecha Combat Department." The female doctor said to Sam with regret, and comforted him in a soft tone.

"Thank you, Dr. Jenny." Sam thanked the female doctor dejectedly and turned to leave. As Auckland passed by him, he clearly saw the disappointment on his face.

"Next." Dr. Jenny sighed and looked towards the door.

Oakland hurried into the testing room. Casey, who had been left out, stood silently at the door, still not leaving. He thought with some resentment, perhaps his physical condition had only improved a little. If his mental strength level was still the lowest E-level, he would still be a useless piece of shit!

As she imagined this, a twisted smile appeared on Casey's pretty face.

However, Oakland was unaware of this and didn't care at all. He just smiled and greeted Dr. Jenny, answered her why he came to test his mental power, and repeated what Dr. Walker said.

"Okay, I understand. Let's do the test." Dr. Jenny nodded with a smile. She was also very curious about the test results of this student who had the potential to evolve again.

Afterwards, he followed Dr. Jenny's instructions and sat down on the chair obediently. He let her stick the electrodes on his temples and put on the virtual reality head-mounted display device.

When Doctor Jenny's voice sounded, asking Auckland to try his best to extend his mental power, everything went dark before his eyes. He felt as if he were trapped in a quagmire. He couldn't move a single part of his body. For a moment, he didn't know how to extend his so-called mental power...

Dr. Jenny frowned deeply as she looked at the motionless wavy lines on the screen, while Casey, who was standing quietly at the door, had a malicious smile on her face.

However, the next moment, something surprising happened. The wave line suddenly began to rise rapidly, forming a vertical straight line, which made Dr. Jenny and Casey gasp.

Jenny's inhalation made Auckland realize something. The rapidly climbing line finally stopped and began to slowly descend, finally stopping at a still high position...

"A-! It's A-grade!" Doctor Jenny covered her chest and exclaimed in disbelief.

"This is impossible!" Casey was so shocked that he forgot that he was peeking at the test and let out a sharp scream.

As a result, because of Casey's scream, the fluctuation that had stopped rose again, and then slowly fell back to its original position.

"Who are you?!" Doctor Jenny quickly pressed the pause button and turned sharply in the direction of the scream. For the first time, her face, usually covered with a gentle smile, showed a stern expression. After noticing the internship armband on Casey's arm, she immediately frowned and said, "Which department are you an intern from? Why are you on the third floor? Doesn't your internship handbook mention the precautions for the psychiatric examination room? Your shouting and yelling will have a huge impact on the students being tested, and they may even suffer serious mental trauma!"

"I, I..." Casey's hands and feet suddenly became cold, and the blood color disappeared from his face in an instant.

"It's okay if you don't tell me. I'll just go to the computer and check the intern's file!"

"No, no! Doctor Jenny, I'm a medical student interning in the physical examination room... My name is Casey." Casey said tearfully, "Doctor Walker asked me to send this junior up here. I was just curious if he could evolve again. I really didn't mean to... I'm sorry... wuwuwu..."

Doctor Jenny was very sad to see her crying. She glanced at Auckland who still needed to continue testing and felt that the most urgent thing was to get this intern who was always making noise to leave as soon as possible.

"Just leave! I'll deal with this later."

"Doctor Jenny, I..."

"If you don't leave, I'll send a message to Doctor Walker and ask him to come and take you away!"

"No! No!" Casey waved his hands quickly, "I'm leaving right away, I'm leaving right away!"

Cathy ran away quickly as if there was a wild beast chasing her.

Seeing that she had finally left, Dr. Jenny quickly locked the door of the examination room. Then she returned to Auckland and said softly, "I'm sorry, Auckland, the test results just now are a bit unusual. I would like to trouble you to test again. Is that okay?"

"Of course." Oakland had a good impression of Doctor Jenny. Although he couldn't see, he had a rough idea of what had just happened based on the conversation he had overheard. He hadn't expected his outward- projecting spiritual consciousness to produce such a shocking test result. This was even after he had deliberately restrained himself after hearing the inhalation sound...

After another test, Auckland's mental strength level test result was still an astonishing A-. Doctor Jenny was surprised and happy and recorded the test result. Auckland also confirmed through this test that his consciousness was the mental power of this world.

Although his spiritual consciousness was severely damaged when he self-destructed his golden elixir, his realm was still there. When he released it slightly, the data of the test instrument was stimulated to jump wildly. It seems that he should restrain himself in the future so as not to scare these future people.
