"Kui?"
The other person frowned. "I'm an adult now, I can't call myself Kui."
Lian Han was puzzled and could only ask the old man, "[They and that Kui Xing...]"
[When you discovered the creature underground, I was also startled, but later I realized it was just a resemblance. The creatures of the Demon Abyss are not so easily defeated.] Old Xing said dismissively.
Is it just similar?
Lian Han frowned, glanced at the other person again, and said nothing more.
She didn't speak, and the other person didn't initiate conversation either; the street was quite quiet.
Soon the two arrived at the city. These natives were about the same height as the creatures of Kui Xing, generally around one meter tall. Therefore, the height of the city was just above Lian Han's head. She had to duck to enter the city gate, which felt like entering a house with a very low roof.
Bored, Lian Han finally thought to ask, "Have you seen any outsiders like me?"
"No."
"What's your name?" Lian Han asked, then, seeing that the other person didn't want to answer, continued, "I can't keep calling you 'Hey,' that's too impolite."
"Sui!" Sui looked impatient.
Sui? Then, thinking back to what he had just said, "I'm an adult now, I can't be called Kui"—Lian Han blinked. Were these two things really unrelated?
In a small town where people are generally one meter tall, the arrival of a 1.7-meter-tall man immediately attracted everyone's attention, but their expressions clearly showed dislike and disgust, as if they had seen an enemy.
"Sui, why did you bring a human in? Don't you know they all deserve to die? I'm going to kill her!" A little man with a beard was the most agitated. If it weren't for the people around him stopping him, he might have rushed over.
“Grandpa, don’t get agitated. This is the lord’s order,” Sui explained. “Bringing her to the lord, are you worried she won’t die?”
Lian Han: ...
[Something's not right. A unified lord has actually emerged in the Demon Abyss?]
Don't ask me.
The old man paused for a moment, then said, "[Xiao Han, be careful. If a lord truly emerges in the Demon Abyss, do not engage him in a direct confrontation.]"
[Has it surpassed 3S?]
[That's not all. That lord must have gained the approval of the Demon Abyss's rules. For you to fight him head-on here is simply asking for trouble.]
[According to your logic, does that mean I've also gained the approval of the rules?]
[You may say this here without hesitation. The cosmos is vast and boundless, and the power of its rules is most mysterious and unpredictable; you are not the only one it recognizes.]
[There are quite a few people who have gained recognition from the interstellar rules, but to break through to the god level and truly be destined by fate, one must fight for it oneself. I, this old man, gained recognition back then, and even had a system by my side, but in the end, didn't I still end up with nothing but bones?] At this point, the old man gave a self-deprecating laugh.
Lian Han nodded and made a note of it. Reaching the divine level was the old man's expectation of her, and it was also the level she needed to reach to eliminate the Underworld Palace; of course, she wouldn't back down.
Lian Han's thoughts were racing, but he had already followed Sui to an altar. The other party withdrew his spear and knelt on the ground. Lian Han sensed an energy fluctuation and saw intricate golden patterns appear on the altar beneath his feet. Then, a spatial fluctuation occurred, and the scene before him changed.
Spatial teleportation?
Lian Han was stunned. This was a power that even the Federation had never mastered. She was only able to do it because of the Butterfly Shadow Card!
[The power systems of the two worlds are simply different. Just you wait and see, there's more to come. If I hadn't caused such a huge disaster back then, I really would have liked to stay here for three to five years to study it properly; it would definitely improve my cards.]
[What does this have to do with cards?] Lian Han wondered.
But the old man refused to say more, saying, "You should experience it for yourself."
Lian Han rolled her eyes at him and silently followed behind Sui. This was a large hall built of huge stones, with the top of it about ten meters above the ground, a complete reversal of the previous design with a low roof.
Reaching a closed palace door, Sui turned to look at her. "Human, you're smart enough to know your place. You'll have to meet the lord later. Good luck to you."
After speaking, he placed his hand on the palace door, and with a tiny energy fluctuation, a white circular pattern appeared. It looked much smaller and simpler than the previous golden pattern with a diameter of three meters.
The palace doors opened, and a being sat on a throne in the palace, looking down at them with immense pressure.
Lian Han sensed something was wrong, but before he could figure it out, he heard the other person say, "Sui, step back."
Sui bowed and said, "Yes."
Sui turned and left, the palace doors closed again, leaving only her and the lord.
"You are beautiful."
Lian Han was taken aback, not expecting his first words to be like this. Looking at the lord, Lian Han was puzzled; this man was far too similar to that Sui, only much more mature in appearance. And the people in that small town—they all looked remarkably alike, only their age and clothing made them stand out.
"A human once said, 'Beauty lies in the skin, but true beauty lies in the bones.' Although I don't understand the meaning of this saying, it must be referring to you. You are more beautiful than any of the previous cards."
"You flatter me, my lord. Do you know where those cards are located?"
"In the Demon Abyss."
Lian Han raised an eyebrow. "Of course I know they're in the Demon Abyss."
“I’m talking about another Demon Abyss,” the lord said.
"I do not understand."
"Don't understand?" Her words drew a strange look from the lord, who asked, "Didn't you do any research on this place before you came to Demon Abyss?"
"I've only heard about it," Lian Han said calmly. "The Federal Military has done a good job protecting the information on the Demon Valley, and I don't want to go to the trouble of stealing secrets."
The old man should know what the other Demon Abyss is like, but he didn't mention it before. Asking the lord won't make a difference anyway, since the old man will point out any mistakes.
