Chapter 131 Ling Ze

If Cangming is directly recognized, then what's the point of them fighting each other to the death?

Old Man Xing, sensing her thoughts, sighed helplessly, "You wish! Unfortunately, the rules don't allow those who break them to exist."

[Broken the rules? What did he do?] Lian Han asked, puzzled.

[If we consider human lifespan, this guy would be a pile of bones long ago. What's more, he's been wanting to create another immortal to keep him company for over a decade. With that kind of madness, even the most magnanimous prime minister couldn't contain him.]

Lian Hanmo.

While she hesitated, Cangming's attention shifted to Ning Jue and the other girl. A black chain shot out from the darkness, heading straight for Ning Jue. In any case, as long as the little girl was alive, no one else was of any use to him.

Sensing the energy fluctuations, Lian Han snapped back to reality. A pair of butterfly wings rapidly grew out, then detached from his back, carrying immense power, and stood in front of Ning Jue and Zhan Qi respectively.

"I'm still here, how could you turn on someone else? Is this what you call being fickle?" Lian Han said, looking at the crystal-clear butterfly wings that blocked the chains.

"You're quite bold. I thought you'd calm down and learn what it means to be flexible and adaptable."

"Heh!" Lian Han scoffed.

"Then I'll give you a gift." Cangming's voice grew increasingly eerie. The next moment, she felt a force descend upon her, impossible to resist, and then everything went black...

Shenmu Bookstore welcomed a new guest: a woman with striking red short hair, a dark red suit, and a cold, aloof face, giving off an unapproachable aura.

The once noisy bookstore suddenly became eerily quiet.

The atmosphere only improved after he sat down by the window and raised the soundproof shield.

"Shouldn't the guide explain the transfer order?" The young man asked, looking at the woman reading a book across from him. His voice, which had been sunny, turned somber as he deliberately concealed it.

Ling Ze now has two identities—all members of the Divine Alliance have two identities on Skynet. Ling Ze lives a normal life, while Death is a hacker of the Divine Alliance.

"Is there anything to explain about the transfer order that marks the end of the novice period?" The woman's voice was gentle and refined, just like the impression she gave off.

"May I ask you, Guide, what is Wolf Star?" Ling Ze frowned.

"It doesn't matter where it is; your job is simply to maintain the security of the virtual world there."

Death explained, "Then it seems the guide overlooked one issue: I am not yet an adult!"

Article 16 of the God Alliance Hacker Code of Conduct states that underage hackers are prohibited from taking over any military-related planets.

And the Azure Wolf Star, that's a military fortress of the Federation!

The woman paused in her book, closed it, and looked up at the young man. "So you're still a minor? There's no such entry in your profile."

No—his reminder finally made Death realize that many of the personal information she submitted when she joined the Divine Alliance was still blank.

"So, I'll change it now?" Death asked, somewhat embarrassed. The matter of feelings was his own problem.

"Do as you please. But if you don't want to fill in your personal information, fine. If you do, you must not falsify anything."

After being warned again, Ling Ze remained silent, opened the Divine Alliance interface on his bracelet, and clicked on his personal information.

Yihen quickly received a notification from the intern member, Death, about the changes to his information. He then saw the young man's birth date, which, strictly speaking, meant he was just over twenty years old—the age of adulthood in interstellar space is twenty-five.

Yihen gave him a meaningful look, then said helplessly, "The Divine Alliance's order has been issued and cannot be changed."

The Divine Alliance—as mentioned before—is a hacker organization on Skynet, the only one that can rival the Card Making Guild, and its mission is to maintain order and peace on Skynet.

While fulfilling their duties, they also enjoy immense power, making it no exaggeration to call them gods in the virtual world.

Death, the guide Ihen, and all the guests of the Divine Mu Bookstore are members of the Divine Alliance, each with their own planet or region to protect.

"Can't be changed? But..."

“I will apply to be in charge of Wolf Star with you, so that it won’t be considered a violation of the Divine Alliance’s regulations. I’ll just be quite busy on weekdays, so please keep an eye on things. Also, being in charge of military planets will grant you some additional privileges. You can investigate as much as you want, but you cannot leak information about the civilian population.”

"What can I check?" Ling Ze asked, puzzled, then nodded. "I'll find out later."

"Next time something like this happens, I'll ask for your opinion beforehand."

"That's troublesome. I have something to do, so..."

"Since you're here, let me test you." Yihen said, giving him no chance to refuse. "First, tell me, what are the responsibilities of a hacker?"

Sure enough, you should stay as far away from his guide as possible, whether there's a reason or not.

Ling Ze's eyelids twitched, but he could only answer, "Maintaining the order of Skynet."

He memorized all of this by rote, okay?

Although she couldn't see his face clearly, Yihen could clearly sense the young man's displeasure, but she didn't say much. "What are the two types of hackers? Introduce them separately."

"Hackers are divided into two categories: technical hackers and ability-based hackers. The former are the traditional hackers who acquire hacking power by learning and mastering Skynet's programming technology; while ability-based hackers are a new force in the hacker world. They do not need to master any programming principles; as long as they use their superpowers, they can influence Skynet. They are collectively known as Phantom Users."

For example, Ling Ze's mental strength just happens to have this ability, which is why he was chosen.

Yihen increased the difficulty, "Then why do you still want to study?"

Ling Ze answered without hesitation: "With hacking knowledge, we can find vulnerabilities in Skynet more quickly, fix them effectively with minimal superpowers, and be less likely to be detected."
