Ning Jue glanced at her, "You seem to know quite a lot."
"I heard it from someone else. Uncle's reaction... this must be the design blueprint that Professor Cui Zhi used when she was in school?"
"It's only similar; you're not as good as them in terms of details."
Lian Han rolled her eyes. "Comparing me to my mentor Cui Zhi before he became famous is giving me too much credit."
"Don't you like armor making? Why not follow Cui Zhi's example?"
“I know my own situation. It’s a bit late to get into armor making in college. Comparing myself to Professor Cui Zhi would only make me uncomfortable,” Lian Han said, then added with a smirk, “Besides, I don’t really like it that much.”
These words piqued General Ning's curiosity, "You don't like me learning it?"
Lian Han blinked. "Does not liking something mean I can't learn it? I've been at the Armor Academy for a year now. Although I can't say I like it, I'll study hard."
"What about the cards?"
A year ago, Lian Han's tone would have been quite certain, but now—"It should be that I like him."
Seeing the questioning look in the other person's eyes, Lian Han explained, "After playing card games for a long time, I even think I like them. It's just that after getting into armor making this year, I realized that they actually feel pretty much the same to me. I wouldn't say I like them, but I have to learn them for certain reasons."
"So what do you like?"
"have no idea."
"have no idea?"
"They're all pretty much the same. I don't particularly dislike any of them, but I don't particularly like any either."
Ning Jue couldn't continue the conversation. He had originally thought that this girl had given up card games because she liked armor making, but now he realized that it was something she had to learn.
However—Ning Jue looked at Lian Han, “You can explain your learning of card games as being because of your brother, but what about armor making? You had already recognized the Ling family at that time, so no one would force you, right?”
Tsk, I just said it without thinking.
Lian Han complained to himself, saying, "It's for certain reasons. You'll find out when you have the chance."
"What if there's no chance?"
"Then don't be curious," Lian Han said matter-of-factly.
Ning Jue shook his head helplessly; there weren't many people who dared to refuse him like that.
"Hey? We've gotten off topic. I called you to ask about Professor Cui Zhi. What do you mean by 'no action has been taken'? Is it because the sponsor withdrew their funding?"
"No. According to him, the sponsors at the time were very supportive of his designs. However, due to the limitations of the technology at the time, they couldn't find anti-space material that could be used for the mecha, so he terminated the project himself."
How could she possibly think of the same thing? She really was just casually mentioning the anti-space coating.
"However, anti-space matter is now relatively common. For this reason, Cui Zhi supports you because he wants to make up for the regrets of that time."
"But he can make it himself. His finished product would definitely be better than mine."
"The problem is that Cui Zhi is currently producing mostly 3S-level mechs. Although this design has its highlights, it's no longer worthwhile for him to do it himself."
After Ning Jue finished speaking, he added, "If he dares to design this mecha today, rumors will spread throughout the Federation tomorrow that the master has run out of ideas."
"I see." Lian Han nodded, indicating that he understood.
Ning Jue was about to say something when she heard her continue, "If there's nothing else, I'll be going now."
Ning Jue: "...You're just using it and then throwing it away?"
Lian Han blinked. "But aren't you busy, Uncle?"
Ning Jue glanced at the things on the table and decided that correcting her form of address was more important, so she got up and walked over to Lian Han. Ever since Lian Han exposed her, Ning Jue had rarely tried to maintain a mysterious facade in front of her.
Then, Lian Han saw the man slowly lean down, his handsome face practically perfect, and his magnetic voice sounding in her ear, "Am I old?"
She was incredibly alluring. As she spoke, Lian Han could even feel her warm breath on his neck, and his heart skipped a beat for no reason.
Lian Han took a step back, arguing in his own defense, "Didn't you tell me to call him uncle? I didn't call him wrong."
"Hmm?" Ning Jue raised an eyebrow and took another step forward, only to see Lian Han retreat again. She asked, "Why are you retreating? Are you afraid of me now?"
"Who's afraid of you! Why are you standing so close to me?" Lian Han stopped in her tracks; she just felt uncomfortable being too close.
"Isn't this so you can see up close whether I'm old or not?"
Hearing his serious tone, Lian Han blinked and looked at the man again. It has to be said that Ning Jue is really handsome. Time seems to have been exceptionally kind to him, leaving almost no trace except for the maturity and composure that has settled in him.
Lian Han looked away. "He's not that old."
Ning Jue straightened up. "Could you please use a different form of address?"
So men are afraid of being called old too? Lian Han was taken aback, then tentatively asked, "General Ning?"
Ning Jue didn't react, but Lian Han sensed that the other party was not satisfied, so he changed his address: "Ning Jue?"
He remained silent.
Lian Han laughed in exasperation. What could she call him then? She couldn't exactly call him "brother," could she? The family hierarchy would be completely messed up.
Wait a minute, it really can—
Ning Jue saw a sly glint in the girl's eyes and instinctively felt something was wrong. Then he heard her say, "Little brother~"
As a potential voice enthusiast, Lian Han was satisfied with her own voice; it was undeniably beautiful, like a silver bell, yet with a touch of coolness. Previously, it had only been soothing to the ear. But now, her tone rose, losing its coolness, and paired with her alluring face, it was exceptionally seductive—at least Ning Jue was captivated.
Ning Jue looked away. "What kind of address is that?"
"That's a popular nickname these days. Don't you think it sounds bad, young man?"
"...Have you ever called someone else that?" Ning Jue looked at her again.
Lian Han blinked, his eyes looking utterly innocent. "Is that not allowed?"
