In the small room, the girl sat on the edge of the bed, lost in thought. Was she Xia Yan? Qi Yan? Shui Xinyan? Zi Yan, or who else? Or perhaps they were all actually her?
But—can people really have past lives? Even if they do, why would she remember them?
She had countless dreams, and the girl felt she needed to sort them out.
At the beginning, Xia Yan was an orphan girl who had lost both her parents and was bullied by her relatives. Cang Yi took her away, and they later fell in love. However, the girl combined several dreams and, through Xia Yan's pessimistic psychological analysis, predicted that Xia Yan's fate might not be good; she would likely die in the end.
Qi Yan, however, was the real heiress who had been switched at birth. But she met Li Zhong, who was both her mentor and friend—this was both her fortune and her misfortune. She fell in love with Li Zhong, and even when her biological parents wanted to take her back, she refused. Li Zhong, of course, loved her too, but his possessiveness was too strong and too obsessive. Whenever someone or something occupied Qi Yan's attention, he would do anything to destroy it, like Ruan Dong.
So their fates were not good either. Li Zhong imprisoned Qi Yan, and Qi Yan—she committed suicide, crashing her head into the cage that her lover had carefully prepared for her.
If the Shui Xinyan story refers to the Shui family on the capital planet, then it should predate Qi Yan's story. The Shui family only moved to the capital planet over three hundred years ago, and the story of Shui Xinyan and Ye Qianling clearly doesn't take place on the capital planet.
This is also a love story. With Ye Qianling's help, Shui Xinyan became the head of the Shui family and ruled the planet. They finally got together.
Because her "dream" was incomplete, the girl could only speculate that the story should have a happy ending.
As for Zi Yan—she couldn't be certain of the exact time, only that the Federation and Di Luo already existed at that time. And Zi Yan's identity was clearly not human; whether the Norl race even existed might require verification at the library.
However, Princess Ziyan of Noel fell in love with her elder brother, who was also from Noel—they were not blood siblings; Noel's princes were chosen entirely by chance, and "elder brother" was their title for the first prince, the future clan leader. She would never know the ending, because there are only two fragments about Ziyan in total…
But that's far from all. In the fragments of the exploding starship, the girl wasn't any of them. From this, we can infer that she probably had many unfinished "dreams" or "past lives," and she should have continued sleeping until all the dreams ended. But she woke up.
Why did she wake up?
The girl's question wasn't because she wanted to continue dreaming—those stories were so real, so emotionally rich, and had a profound impact on her. She didn't want to be influenced by them, even if they might be part of her past.
Having sorted out the story, the girl stood up and wanted to leave the room. She now needed to find out why she had woken up and why she was here.
Her hand hovered over the doorknob, then she suddenly paused. It was as if she had done this before, trying to open the door and go out, or even trying to climb out the window. And then—she always encountered the same man, who would send her back to her room, and then she was forced to begin one "dream" after another.
Although she couldn't remember what the person looked like, she understood that she couldn't leave this place now. She didn't want to dream anymore; she wanted to leave.
But going out would inevitably lead to being sent back, and then the dream would start all over again. She had a headache; it was a vicious cycle.
Why is she here?
Wait, why is she here?
Someone was holding her back from logging off.
In other words, this is Skynet. That's really good news.
She opened her smart device and, after discovering that the "offline" button was disabled, the girl took out a dagger and stabbed herself in the heart, attempting to kill herself instantly.
Unable to log off, she could only die and return to the starting point. Blood gushed out, and she slowly collapsed to the ground, feeling nothing—yes, she felt no pain. This spared her a lot of suffering, thank goodness.
Her consciousness began to blur, and she vaguely seemed to hear a curse. The voice sounded somewhat familiar, but she couldn't remember it.
Then her eyes lit up as the Skynet connection pod opened, and she returned to reality.
Just as she breathed a sigh of relief, the girl saw a man. He was pale and had almost no spiritual power, but he was very handsome.
So she sincerely exclaimed, "You're so beautiful."
"..." Ning Jue's lips twitched. "How are you feeling now?"
The girl emerged from the connecting capsule, exclaiming, "It feels great! I'm finally out!"
"What about mental strength?"
"Mental energy—" the girl sensed it, "is very abundant. You should be worried about your own mental energy. If you overdraw it any further, you're finished."
Ning Jue: ...Who was he exhausting his mental energy for? Wasn't it to save her with his Word of Power? What a heartless little brat.
The girl had clearly not yet detached herself from the "dream" and connected with the person in front of her; she began searching for items in her spatial equipment.
"The bracelet is nice."
"Yes. Its name is Shiri." The girl took out a card, a golden card, which was a mental energy recovery card.
"This is a rare treat. I let you use it because I like you. Remember to return it to me."
Hearing her tone of voice as if she were talking to a stranger, Ning Jue finally realized something was wrong. "Who am I?"
"Don't you know who you are?" the girl asked with a strange expression.
"Then do you know who you are?" Ning Jue frowned.
"I am—" The girl paused. Xia Yan? Qi Yan? Shui Xinyan? Zi Yan? No, none of them.
What about Shui Yiyue? No, wait. Ah, I remember now, she's Lian Han.
