As expected, Lian Han arrived at the school in half an hour this time.
Finding no one in the dormitory, Lian Han looked up the class schedule and realized that his class had a class that afternoon. He then checked the schedule for the third-year elite class of the Mecha Academy, which had no classes. So Lian Han arranged to meet Jiang Chenrui online.
The location was the training room where they used to spar together. She had booked it for a long time, so it had been empty.
Jiang Chenrui arrived faster than she expected. The young man looked at her, somewhat flustered, and weakly called out, "Sister."
"Hmm. Do you know why I called you that?"
Jiang Chenrui carefully observed her expression and tentatively asked, "I almost killed Bingmo?"
Lian Han looked at him quietly, her expression inscrutable. She didn't answer, so he could only continue to guess, "About what happened before? My sister seemed to say she wanted to have a serious talk about it."
Seeing his cautious manner, Lian Han's anger, which she had managed to suppress, surged up again. She rubbed her forehead and said, "Are you trying to fool me like I was when I was a child by acting all innocent and careful?"
"I didn't." Jiang Chenrui's expression changed. He was just feeling guilty and habitually showed weakness in front of her—when he did something wrong as a child, his sister usually wouldn't hold it against him as long as he apologized.
"That's good. As I said before, I can let bygones be bygones about how you hid your Blood Nether Palace identity and made a fool of me. Let's talk about now—you care about me a lot? Why?"
Jiang Chenrui remained silent for a while before saying, "You're the older sister."
"But as far as I know, you have an older brother."
Upon hearing her mention Jiang Chenxi, a mocking look appeared on the young man's face, and he sneered, "He's not."
"What do you mean?" Lian Han frowned.
“My brother died when our parents had that accident. That person was just using his body, but no matter how well he disguises himself, he’s still a fake.” Jiang Chenrui explained indifferently, then looked at Lian Han with concern, “Sister, you should stay away from him, it’s dangerous.”
Lian Han was still a little confused. Was it possible to just take over someone's body like that? But this matter was clearly not on their topic of conversation, and it had gone seriously off track.
"Let's not talk about him for now. You want to go back to the kind of relationship we had before, right?" So Lian Han just noted down his words and then asked again—in fact, if she had paid attention and asked one more question now, she wouldn't have been tricked so badly later, almost to the point of death.
Jiang Chenrui answered seriously, "No. I just want to be your younger brother. There's no exploitation or deception involved, that's all."
"I'll assume you believe me for now. So, the next question is, do you still have contact with the Blood Netherworld Palace?"
“No,” Jiang Chenrui replied quickly. “I haven’t contacted them since they confirmed you were missing. Besides, I’m just a student and not much help to them. They contact Jiang Chenxi more often.”
This was an expected answer. As for Jiang Chenxi—she had already thought of it when she learned that they were brothers.
"Can you guarantee that you haven't contacted them again, and that you won't contact them in the future?"
"I promise," Jiang Chenrui replied, then added, "I only want to protect my sister, even if it means resorting to any means necessary."
The implication was that if he could protect her, contacting the Blood Nether Palace wouldn't be a problem. Lian Han had a bit of a headache. She didn't think Jiang Chenrui would lie, but she really wanted to ask him why he was protecting her, given his strange idea. However, Lian Han could already guess his answer: "You're the older sister," just like years ago.
"I'll assume you're no longer involved with them. That leaves only one last question: why did you kill Bingmo?"
Ning Jue, who was secretly eavesdropping on the girl's conversation by taking advantage of her concealed identity, was taken aback. Didn't she not believe him?
[My silly little brother, that's because you're stupid.] Xing Yucheng seized the opportunity to mock, [They say you learn from your mistakes. But after being fooled by this girl so many times, I haven't seen you improve at all.]
Hearing his brother's voice beside him, Ning Jue was surprised, "[How come you...]"
[I knew you were a hacker the moment you appeared in Xiaohan's birthplace without permission. It's just that Xiaohan didn't realize it at first, or perhaps didn't know hackers had this capability, which is why you were given an alias.]
[That's not it.] He wasn't surprised he knew Ning Jue. [I meant Xiao Han, our conversations with her...]
"Of course she doesn't know. I only have mental energy left now, so she's used to me using the Skynet to sneak around. Anyway, I'm not going to risk exposing myself," Xing Yucheng said matter-of-factly.
[That's good. ]
The two of them talked for about half a minute, but Jiang Chenrui hesitated for half a minute. Looking at the girl's serious expression, he finally didn't dare to make up a lie and say that he didn't do it. Instead, he said, "Sister is so smart."
Tell me why.
Jiang Chenrui countered, "Sister, what do you think is the reason?"
She felt that—she had two guesses before, but now that one was blocked, only one remained. Lian Han frowned, "I just want to know the answer."
The young man stepped forward and, taking advantage of his height, whispered in the girl's ear, "Because he made your sister unhappy."
He made his sister unhappy and threatened her, so he had no reason to exist. Lian Han understood his meaning in an instant and was startled.
“Jiang Chenrui, this is our personal feud, and I can resolve it myself. I don’t need your interference.”
“But my sister’s way of solving problems is so troublesome.” The young man frowned, his displeasure evident. “And it also distracts my sister; she can only look at me.”
The tone was childlike, innocent yet extremely cruel.
