Chapter 26 Prologue

Lian Han was taking a walk in the small garden.

Just as dusk was falling, guests began to arrive one after another, but this had nothing to do with Lian Han for the time being. Before going to greet the guests, the eldest brother of the Ling family simply waved his hand and tossed the little girl into the small garden, saying that she should go out for some fresh air and would be back when it was time.

The Ling family's back garden was quite charming, filled with extremely beautiful flowers. Some flowers were aloof and quiet, while others would shyly close when touched. Unfortunately, Han Yi couldn't recognize any of them.

Suddenly catching a glimpse of purple, Lian Han blinked and leaned forward, but was caught the moment her fingers touched the flower's stamen. "Some flowers shouldn't be touched."

Lian Han straightened up, his voice cold and devoid of any emotion, "Ming Yu."

"It's me. Miss Lian, how have you been since you went home?"

So he was on that civilian starship just to see her.

Lian Han lowered his eyes, his gaze falling on the wrist that Ming Yu was holding. Ming Yu withdrew his hand and took a step back. "Sorry."

Lian Han withdrew his hand, his gaze cold and clear. "Young Master Ming did nothing wrong."

Seeing her turn to leave, Ming Yu felt helpless. "Is Miss Lian still holding a grudge about what happened before? If you ask, I will tell you everything I know."

Lian Han smiled and said, "I am quite curious. But I also know that curiosity killed the cat. Besides, cats have nine lives, but humans only have one. There are advantages to not knowing. Young Master Ming should go to the living room."

Ling Xin didn't tell her that day, partly to protect her, but more importantly, because she lacked the strength. So, what was the point of knowing so much before she had sufficient power?

Unable to stop the girl in the end, Mingyu looked at his outstretched hand, frowned, and then sighed softly.

She remains as sensitive as ever, both in her past life and in this one.

Ming Yu watched the girl's retreating figure, lowered his eyes, and concealed the madness and stubbornness within them. He would not give up, he would never give up that chance to become a god...

[Tsk tsk! That was a clean rejection. You didn't see you turn around and leave, leaving him all alone, looking so lonely!] Old Xing teased.

[She's good-looking, but too calculating; she's not my type.] Besides, her voice isn't as pleasant as her own.

That's what he said, but Old Man Xing always felt that he had missed something.

Lian Han is a voice enthusiast, but because her own voice is melodious and soothing enough, her voice enthusiast level is a bit high. Only someone of Captain Jiang Chenxi's or Bei Ting's level, whom Tianwang knows, can make her pay attention.

So even Old Man Xing hadn't discovered her preference.

Unable to understand, Old Man Xing stopped thinking about it. [But you were right not to agree. I see now, none of the Ming family kids have good intentions.]

[You have a lot of complaints about them.]

[That's because you have no idea that bastard surnamed Ming almost—you actually tricked me into telling you something!]

[I'm just stating a fact; it's your fault, old man, for not watching what you said.]

It was indeed something he blurted out without thinking. Old Xing: [...I'm going to take a nap. Do as you please.]

Lian Han didn't care whether Old Man Xing was asleep or not; she just wanted to go back to her room. She had no interest in being alone in the small garden with Ming Yu.

However--

A dark figure blocked her view. "Does the beauty need a dance partner?"

Lian Han looked up and saw a flashy young man with short black hair dyed with a tuft of yellow hair, two small hoop earrings on each ear, and a flamboyant dark red suit. Although he looked handsome, it couldn't hide the fact that he was a sleazy and unruly person.

Lian Han tried to walk past him, but the young man stepped in front of her again, saying, "Don't go. Follow me, and I'll make sure you live a life of luxury."

Lian Han frowned, "Get out of the way!"

"Oh! You're angry now? That makes you even cuter."

The young man reached out as if to lift Lian Han's chin, but Lian Han grabbed his hand. The young man continued to tease, "So eager to hold hands already? Why is my beauty in such a hurry?"

"Finally, someone dares to flirt with you again," Old Xing sighed.

[Didn't you go to rest?]

As Lian Han replied, he rotated the young man's wrist 180 degrees, reminding him before the young man cried out in pain, "This is the Ling family's banquet."

Realizing this, the young man quickly covered his mouth and glared at Lian Han. The girl added, "You can try teasing him a little more." She wouldn't mind throwing him out.

The young man gritted his teeth, "Let go!"

"Okay." Lian Han readily agreed, let go, and with a gentle push, the young man was thrown backward by the force of the push.

"Who dares to hit me?"

Upon hearing the voice, Lian Han paused in his steps as he went upstairs. There weren't many people around at this time, so how could he have bumped into someone by such a coincidence? That guy must be so unlucky.

The young man bumped into someone, but then cried out as if he had met a savior, "Big brother, my hand is ruined."

"It's you?" The fat man, whose waist was almost as wide as his height, asked in surprise. "Who did this to you?"

"It's her!" the young man pointed at Lian Han, "A viper with a heart of stone..."

"Who are you calling despicable? You're the one who got beaten up for making things difficult for others. How can someone like you even be at a banquet?" Ruan Zhenyue slapped him across the face, filled with righteous indignation.

The young man was stunned by the beating; he opened his mouth but couldn't say anything for a long time.

Fatty Ruan didn't care what he thought. He quickly approached Lian Han and said ingratiatingly, "You look really beautiful today, girl. I just stood up for you."

"Aren't you his older brother?"

"How could that be? How could I have such a scoundrel of a brother?" the fat man vehemently denied. "Was one hit enough? Want me to do a few more?"

Lian Han looked at the young man's incredulous expression and the sudden red mark on his face, "No need. You've come quite early today. The banquet is still a while away."

"It's my sister. She went to the garden to look for you, didn't you see her?"

His older sister goes completely mad when it comes to cards. And since this was the first time she'd encountered such a powerful combination of cards, she dragged him along early on, saying she wanted to see the Ling family's younger sister.

"We didn't encounter it."

"That's alright. My sister can find you after the banquet. Are you going upstairs? Hurry up..."

"do what?"

The cold voice rang out, and Ruan Zhenyue felt as if he had fallen into an ice cave.

As expected, he turned his head and saw a face he would never forget. "I didn't do anything wrong."

"Um?"

He actually doesn't believe him? Ruan Zhenyue's face grew darker and darker.

Ling Yue remained taciturn, and Lian Han secretly rubbed his forehead. Then, seeing the flames burning in the fat man's eyes beside him, he took his brother's arm and said, "Second brother, if eldest brother is busy, then you must be very free. Come upstairs with me and let's talk."

Ruan Zhenyue curled his lip. Talk to an iceberg? Isn't she just asking for trouble?

However, the next second he heard Ling Yue say, "Okay."

Ruan Zhenyue: !!! Did Ling Bingshan take the wrong medicine today?

Seeing the person he had just slapped still in a daze, his displeasure intensified. "Can't you understand human language? That's the Ling family's little princess. You think you can mess around at the Ling family's birthday banquet? You should be glad Ling Yue didn't see you courting death first! You'd better be more careful in the future!"
