Chapter 54 Sealed Memories

“Young Master Ling.” Madam Jialan nodded to him and then said, “Could you give me the little guy? In return, I can help you three times without charge.”

The little fox got angry and opened its mouth to bite the human, but the human nimbly dodged it. "What do you think, Miss?"

Lian Han's smile faded slightly. "Xiao Yan is my partner."

Meeting the girl's gaze, Madam Garan's lips curled into a smile. "You can't take care of her during the treatment process anyway. How about I have someone take her out for some fresh air?"

Lian Han was about to refuse when he heard Ling Xin say, "Thank you for your trouble, Madam."

“Young Master Ling Ze is truly brilliant. Little one, go out and play for a while, and come back to find your master in an hour.” Madam Jialan said, handing the little fox to the person beside her.

The little fox looked at its master, as if seeking his opinion. Lian Han pursed his lips and said, "Go."

The little fox became completely obedient and was carried away by someone.

It's so intelligent!

Madam Jialan withdrew her gaze and looked at the three members of the Ling family. "Young Master Ling has already told me about Miss Lian Han's condition. Miss, please come with me to the treatment room."

"Thank you for your trouble, Madam."

"Please wait here for a moment, both of you," Madam Jialan instructed, leading Lian Han out of the reception room.

The so-called treatment room contained only a soft bed, a small round table, and two chairs. Lady Garan said, "You lost your memories before the age of eight. I will do my best to help you, but I cannot guarantee success."

“I know. My brother has already told me.”

“During this process, I might see your memories. So to avoid unnecessary trouble, we need to sign an agreement first,” Lady Garan said, taking out a prepared contract.

Lian Han nodded. This kind of agreement was nothing more than protecting the guest's privacy, and after Old Man Xing confirmed that there were no problems, he decisively signed his name.

After signing his name and uploading it to the Skynet mainframe for filing, Lady Jialan allowed Lian Han to lie down.

“Now try to recall things from before you were eight years old. I know you won’t remember, but you should have some impression. Think about it, and then relax.” Madam Garan placed her hand on Lian Han’s forehead.

Lian Han closed her eyes and did as she was told. As she had mentioned before, her only memory of things before the age of eight was the name Xiao Rui.

Little Rui...

When Lian Han woke up, she was met with a woman's pitying gaze, while she herself was no different from before.

"It failed?"

“Half and half. Child, come here and talk.” Lady Garan gestured to the chair beside her.

Lian Han sat down. "You haven't actually lost your memories."

"Not lost?" Lian Han frowned.

Lady Garan continued, "They are simply sealed off."

"Closed off?"

"This is a kind of self-protection mechanism of the human body. When a person suffers too much of a blow or setback, the subconscious mind believes that you cannot bear that fact at the moment, so it will selectively block out your memories in order to achieve the purpose of temporary forgetting. And you are in this situation."

"You've sealed away your memories for eight years at will?" Lian Han still frowned.

"yes."

She just said they were halfway there. "What did you see, Madam?"

"Very perceptive," Mrs. Garan commented, then continued, "I saw it, but once you've entered this door, you are my patient. Before you were eight, you couldn't accept that fact. I don't think you can bear these memories and burdens now either."

"Is it very painful?" Lian Han asked.

Lady Garan paused for a moment, "When you were at home, you were as happy as if you were in paradise. What happened afterward—I can hardly imagine that humanity could be so terrible, so bloody."

Lian Han hesitated for a moment, "Is it really alright for Madam to only say things halfway through?"

"Let's make a promise. If you ever encounter a group of people with the Blood Flower imprinted on the back of their hands, feel free to come here and find me. I'll tell you everything."

Lian Han looked at her for a long time, but finally succumbed to Madam Jialan's textbook-perfect smile of etiquette. "If that time comes, I will come."

Although she felt that once her mental strength reached 3S, it might be faster to use the Nightfall technique to see her past.

"Go out. Don't keep them waiting." Lady Garan stood up.

Seeing the two return, Ling Xin stood up. "How was it?"

"I'm sorry, it failed." Before Lian Han could explain, Madam Jialan spoke up.

Ling Xin was a little disappointed, but she first patted her sister's shoulder and comforted her, "It's okay. It's not a big deal even if you can't remember. We'll never lose you again."

"I know."

"The attempt to trace back has failed; the deposit will be refunded to Young Master Ling later."

"No need for that. I brought my little sister here to meet people. She studies in Diluo, and she might come here often in the future."

"Young Master Ling, you're too kind."

"That's only right. Knowing that Madam is busy here, we'll take our leave now," Ling Xin said with a smile.

"The little guy should be outside. Take care, you three."

As they reached the door, Lian Han suddenly turned to look at her, a slight smile playing on his lips, and said, "Goodbye, Madam."

"Goodbye." Lady Garan, dressed in a long blue dress, smiled gently.

Upon spotting the little fox playing with a ball of yarn, Lian Han's eyes crinkled into a smile. "Xiao Yan, let's go."

Upon hearing the familiar voice, the little fox immediately abandoned her toy and darted into her owner's arms. She figured she could get her owner to buy her a similar toy when they got back.

Seeing that the little one was unharmed, Lian Han looked at the maid who was taking care of her and said, "Thank you for taking care of Xiao Yan."

"You're too kind, Miss."

"Xiao Han, where do you want to go now?" Ling Xin asked.

Even though I haven't been able to recover my sister's memories, I still need to find a way to make her happy.

"We had too much fun yesterday." Ling Ze took her out for a wild time until nine o'clock at night.

Ling Xin ruffled her hair and said, "Then consider it as you keeping me company today. I've been so busy lately, I haven't had a chance to relax in a long time."

Since Ling Xin had already said that, Lian Han couldn't refuse anymore. "Where to?"

"Let's go to Huaye first. Qi Mu, you can go back now." He finally had some time alone with his sister, and having another person around, especially a blockhead like her, was just awful.

"yes."

Watching the three of them leave in two separate groups, Albert Andrew put his arm around his companion's shoulder not far away.

"Hua Ye, that's a mecha extravaganza. How come I never thought of using it to show off and pick up girls? This guy really knows how to have fun."

"Why aren't you saying anything?" Albert turned his head and saw the young man's gloomy face. "What's wrong? You finally found a pretty girl you like, but she's already taken. Aren't you happy?"

"No way. Take my advice, those three are really not to be messed with. If you really get it, I'll take you shopping there later—well, even if the beauties there aren't as stunning as this one, they're all top-notch..."

Before Albert could finish speaking, he was attacked by his companion, "Holy crap! Why did you kick me?"

When they could no longer see anyone, the young man finally turned to his companion and said, "Watch your mouth."

Albert: ...He never seemed impatient when he used to make dirty jokes! Displaced anger! This is definitely displaced anger!

That pretty girl chose a rich and handsome guy; if you're so capable, go and steal him away. What's the point of taking your anger out on him?

Of course, Albert only dared to think these things in his heart...
