It's a rare opportunity to come to the village, and Jiang Zhining wants to take this opportunity to have some fun.
"I'm a little hungry." Jiang Zhining said suddenly as the mountain breeze blew.
Hearing this, Song Yuzhou raised his hand to support his forehead and said, "Wife, you never stop talking."
Song Ye nodded vigorously to show his approval.
"I only eat fruits, no matter how full I am." Jiang Zhining responded calmly.
"That's right." Another little foodie echoed.
Looking at the two of them, Song Yuzhou's eyes were filled with pampering and helplessness.
"Besides fruits, what else can we eat in the mountains?" Song Yuzhou frowned and looked around.
Jiang Zhining looked around. Although there were many crops planted in the farmland, spring was the sowing season, and it was not easy to find mature crops.
Suddenly, Jiang Zhining saw a field not far away and then ran over quickly.
That was a sweet potato field, and there were some ripe sweet potatoes in the soil.
Xixi squatted on the ground, holding her cheeks with her hands: "Mom, do you want to eat sweet potatoes? This is edible. Just wash it and you can eat it."
Xixi remembered that when she was a child, Song Chen would give her washed but uncooked sweet potatoes to eat.
"That doesn't taste good. Do you want to eat roasted sweet potatoes?" Jiang Zhining's eyes lit up.
"Roasted sweet potatoes?" Xixi's eyes were round. "Xixi wants it!"
So, Jiang Zhining looked at Song Yuzhou for help.
Seeing her gaze, Song Yuzhou understood: "Okay. Song Chen, Song Ye, come and help."
"I'll help too." Jiang Zhining trotted over.
Song Yuzhou chose a piece of open space, and then everyone worked together to prepare for a sweet potato roasting in the wild.
Song Chen and Song Yuzhou went to find suitable large stones to build a simple and rough stove.
Jiang Zhining went to find hay as Song Yuzhou requested.
Xixi was direct. She dug in the field with her claws, looking for some small sweet potatoes.
Because Song Yuzhou had instructed that the big ones could not be picked.
Ten minutes later, the family, having made all the preparations, squatted around the stove.
Song Yuzhou took out a match from his pocket and then lit the hay.
"I thought you were going to perform the fire-making trick." Jiang Zhining said a little disappointedly.
Song Yuzhou responded calmly: "That would take time."
Xixi tilted her head curiously: "Mom, what is fire-making by rubbing two sticks together?"
"That's a skill. When I first met your father, he performed it once and I was stunned."
Xixi's eyes lit up: "Do you think dad is awesome?"
"That's not the case. At that time, I thought it was a skill only primitive people could possess. I didn't expect that he could also do it." Jiang Zhining answered truthfully.
Song Yuzhou's hand holding the match shook and he almost failed to light it.
"Dad is so awesome." Xixi's eyes sparkled.
Feeling a little embarrassed by Xixi's burning gaze, Song Yuzhou continued to light the fire.
Light the fire and immediately put the hay in.
Jiang Zhining quickly threw the sweet potatoes in and let them burn on the fire.
Seeing this, Xixi followed suit.
Song Ye found it interesting and threw one in as well.
As for Song Chen, he was busy pulling hay.
Song Yuzhou took a not-so-thick branch and kept turning it over in the earthen stove.
Looking at the black sweet potato, Xixi hesitated: "Mom, can this really be eaten?"
"Roasted sweet potatoes are edible. They're like this... I think they're edible." Jiang Zhining wasn't sure either.
"Yes. My brother took me to roast it before when we were visiting the graves during the Qingming Festival." Song Yuzhou explained.
Jiang Zhining looked at him and said, "You and your brother have such a good relationship."
"Um."
Seeing Song Chen's gaze, Jiang Zhining suddenly said, "Just roasting sweet potatoes is boring, why don't we chat? Yuzhou, why don't you talk about your childhood and your brother?"
Song Yuzhou didn't think much about it and recalled the past: "When I was little, I was quite naughty, and my brother was very calm. I remember one time..."
Jiang Zhining noticed that Song Chen and Song Ye were listening quietly.
"Come to think of it, Song Chen's personality is very similar to my brother's." Song Yuzhou said with a smile.
Song Chen didn't say anything, just lowered his head.
"Do you miss him?" Jiang Zhining suddenly asked, her hand falling on Song Chen's head.
Song Chen raised his head subconsciously.
Seeing Jiang Zhining's clear eyes, Song Chen nodded slowly: "I do."
Although he only spent a short time with his biological father, every time he returned to his hometown was his happiest time.
Even if it's short-lived.
"Then take advantage of today to go and pay your respects to him. Your biological father will definitely be pleased to see that you three have grown up so well." Jiang Zhining said with a smile.
Song Chen looked at Song Yuzhou, as if asking for his opinion.
"Of course. I'm also glad that you haven't forgotten him." Song Yuzhou replied with a smile.
"Thank you, Dad. Thank you, Mom." Song Chen expressed his gratitude sincerely.
As he was speaking, Xixi said, "Wow, it smells so good."
The aroma of sweet potatoes wafted over.
Jiang Zhining stared at the blackened sweet potato that was still burning: "It looks like it should be delicious."
Song Yuzhou didn't say anything and gently rolled the sweet potato out with a branch.
Xixi was about to take it, but then she thought of something: "Give it to mom first."
"Why?" Jiang Zhining was curious.
"The teacher said that mom works very hard and we should be filial to her. So, Xixi, you should be filial to your mom and let her eat the delicious food first." Xixi answered in a baby voice.
Jiang Zhining's eyes curved into crescents, and she smiled and said, "You're such a good kid. I won't be polite then."
