Chapter 134 Treatment (Part 2)
Doctors in the Free Star Domain have always used unconventional methods, but even so, Lao Zhang has never performed such an outrageous operation in his many years of medical practice.
The leads originally used to connect the surgical equipment on the mental domain treatment instrument were quickly modified and connected to the collector at the end of a mental domain tester. Mingyu held the circular collector in his right hand.
Mingyu took a deep breath, leaned against Mu Baixing's treatment cabin, closed his eyes and said, "I'm fine."
Old Zhang: “…”
She took a look at the various physical values on the detector that showed Mu Boxing was almost dead, and thought to herself that it was really a desperate measure.
The kind of medical treatment that will cost you your life if the treatment is not effective.
"Okay," she could only say, pressing the adjustment knob to run the instrument at minimum power. She said conservatively, "Put some mental power in there and see how it goes."
Mingyu's spiritual energy flowed through the pipeline into Mu Baixing's spiritual realm.
For most people, such an action would be like pouring hot water into a frying pan, potentially causing both of their spirits to explode simultaneously. But Mingyu only felt warmth.
The same warmth as the resonance of every complete fusion of spiritual power.
The only difference was that the feeling was tinged with a rough, violent edge. It was like a lover who had always been gentle and restrained suddenly becoming savage and violent. The moment they sensed Mingyu's mental energy around them, they swarmed over him, enveloping him like a prey.
Mingyu pursed his lips and whispered, "It's okay, Doctor Zhang, open the valve to the maximum."
He was caught up in the out-of-control gold.
Mu Boxing's mental power approached him, but also tightened him, as if to disperse his mental power and integrate it into himself.
Mingyu gradually felt pain. He pressed his face against the transparent top cover of the treatment cabin, as if this would bring him closer to Mu Baixing.
"It's okay, Brother Mu," Mingyu muttered to himself. "Don't be anxious. Just be quiet. We still have a lot of time left after we get through this..."
The dark gold surrounding him seemed to sense the young man's thoughts and relaxed a little.
Old Zhang looked at the energy fluctuation value on the instrument and raised his eyebrows in surprise.
The energy fluctuation value of Mu Boxing's spiritual domain did begin to decline, but then it quickly rose again.
"Buzz—"
Mingyu felt an energy wave that was completely different from Mu Baixing's mental power.
The golden light that had been surrounding him suddenly seemed to remember its original purpose, emitting a bright glow and rushing towards the spiritual realm in all directions. Mu Baixing shuddered, and blood gushed out from the wounds on his body that were separated by the embedded treatment probes. Mingyu heard the beeping of the detectors in the emergency room and knew that something was wrong, so he simply extended his spiritual power in all directions.
Mu Baixing's mental reaction seemed to be to block and eliminate the foreign invaders.
Mingyu followed and looked, and finally reached the necrotic mental area in Mu Baixing's brain.
Thick black threads threaded through the grayish-white necrotic tissue, like the fleshy pupae of an insect before it metamorphosed into a moth. Each pupa was alive, deeply entwined with the flesh and blood tissue in the spiritual realm, its body pinned to the surrounding tissue by strands of golden spiritual force. Over the years, the two energies had consumed each other, achieving a near-static equilibrium.
Also because they were wrapped in Mu Boxing's mental power and mixed with the necrotic tissue, they were not detected in the Fifth Star Laboratory.
That was indeed Black Tide energy. If it hadn't been suppressed by Mu Boxing, it would have quickly grown into a moth. Ming Yu then realized that during the Black Tide Day, Ming Zhuofeng had manipulated the energy around them...perhaps also affecting the Black Tide energy activity in Mu Boxing's spiritual realm.
The battle just now made these black energy threads particularly active and aggressive, and thus Mu Boxing's spiritual energy also became particularly violent.
Ming Yu did not waste any time. While comforting Mu Baixing, he squeezed away the mental threads that had lost control and were hurting the enemy by 800 and himself by 1,000, and swallowed the thick black thread.
These energy threads had already entangled with Mu Boxing's tissue, leaving behind black depressions in the surrounding damaged and dead areas as they vanished. Lao Zhang quickly operated the therapeutic device, and the healing beam followed, cutting away, dissolving, and absorbing the surrounding black areas.
With the removal of the black tide's energy and Mingyu's calming mental power, Mu Baixing's mental energy fluctuations finally returned to near normal levels. At Lao Zhang's prompting, Mingyu withdrew his mental power and realized he was nearly out of the realm. His legs felt weak as he stood up.
"Finally, the big problem has been solved. Go outside and rest." Lao Zhang instructed the medical robot to lift Mingyu up and carry him out. Mingyu's eyes were glued to the treatment chamber, watching the various drugs being rapidly pumped into his body. He knew that Mu Baixing was still far from out of danger.
He left the emergency room, his vision blurring. Hao Ru and An Qiang were blocking the doorway. Before he could say anything, Adeline, who was standing nearby, stretched out her arms and pulled Mingyu aside. Mingyu stumbled, unable to stand, and was dragged to the side by her.
"Okay, don't wait at the door." Adeline pushed open the door of a nearby treatment room with great strength. "Rest inside. Don't let him be rescued and you end up in the emergency room again." As she spoke, she placed Mingyu on the treatment bed and knocked twice on the panel on the medical robot. "Take some mental domain soothing agent as well."
Mingyu struggled to get up. The door to the ward opened again from the outside. A middle-aged man, wearing a nightcap and full pajamas, who had obviously gotten up in a hurry, poked his head in. "Boss? Is there a patient?"
"Come and take a look at him." Adeline nodded to Mingyu. "Take his medicine if necessary. If not, take some sedatives. Don't let him get up and make a fuss."
Mingyu: “…”
Mingyu tried to struggle free but failed. He was held down and examined, and was given several tubes of nutrient solution and mental soothing agent. Seeing that the other party was really going to force-feed him a sedative, he finally calmed down.
"There's only a wall between here and the next door." Adeline folded her arms and looked at him. "Behind the emergency room is the intensive care unit, and next to the intensive care unit is your room. It's close enough, right? You can hear everything outside. I'll call you if anything happens."
Mingyu: “…Thank you.”
Adeline nodded casually and led her people out.
Mingyu stared at the wall beside him and turned over in bed. Suddenly, a soft chirping sound came from one of his pockets.
Mingyu:!
From the time he left the aircraft carrier until now, he had completely forgotten about the little firebird.
Mingyu quickly took out the furry ball from his pocket, gathered some mental power and fed it to the bird, then held the bird in both hands and curled up on the bed without moving.
"Chirp—" The little bird nestled in his palm, and seemed to have sensed the tense atmosphere, and became quiet again.
In this silence, Mingyu's breathing became difficult, as if a heavy stone was pressing on him.
He listened attentively to the noises in the corridor outside the ward, expecting but also fearing that the door to the emergency room would be opened. The image of Mu Baixing dying kept replaying in his mind, causing her to tremble unconsciously.
After a long and cold wait, Mingyu finally heard the sound of the emergency room door being pushed open from the corridor.
The young man jumped up from the bed, but before he could get out, Adeline had already pushed open the door of the ward he was in. Mingyu looked at her as if he was fixed in place by magic, and for a moment he didn't even make a sound.
"That's enough." The blond leader of the exploration team smiled at him and said cheerfully, "My boyfriend's life is saved."
Mingyu blinked, relaxed for a while, and took a few deep breaths.
The stone that had been pressing on his chest was removed, and he felt his breathing finally become smooth and easy again.
Mu Baixing was out of danger for the time being. Mingyu was still a little dazed, repeating it to himself over and over again. He looked at Adeline without saying a word, as if he was afraid that she would change her mind the next second and say that the good news she brought was fake.
Of course, Adeline didn't change her words. Instead, she continued, "Old Zhang said there's good news."
"His necrotic mental domain was mostly caused by abnormal energy. Once you remove that energy, the damaged mental domain tissue around it will be able to recover, and the decreased mental power level will be restored."
"But there's still a portion of the mental realm that's necrotic and has nothing to do with the Black Tide energy, and we haven't found a solution yet."
Mingyu blinked again.
He knew that it was because the new star crashed and the mechanical heart was eroded by the black tide energy.
But now they have found the mechanical heart, which means that Mu Baixing's mental power level can be completely restored.
Mingyu: “Really?!”
Adeline nodded heavily.
Mingyu was stunned for a moment, then finally smiled for the first time that night. Even his voice became more energetic: "That's great!"
He only deeply hoped that Mu Boxing would wake up safely, and never dreamed that he would hear the good news that his mental strength level could be restored.
...So what Adeline said must be true, and not just a product of his imagination caused by worrying him crazy!
Mingyu's smile grew even wider.
After a fierce battle and a period of fear, his face was pale, but the smile on his lips was extremely bright. The young man jumped out of the bed, his face full of joy. Adeline saw that he seemed to be going to Mu Bohang's ward immediately, so she quickly waved to him.
"It's in the sterile intensive care unit. You're not allowed in now. Wait two days."
It had been over twenty hours since Mu Boxing was rushed to the emergency room yesterday. Adeline, having endured a long day of hardship, looked a little exhausted. She walked into the ward, an unlit cigarette tucked between her fingers, and looked Mingyu up and down.
"Little brother, let me ask you something." The big sister from the Free Star Territory's outer port pulled a chair and sat beside Mingyu's bed. She lowered her voice and showed a mysterious and secretive attitude.
Mingyu didn't understand what was going on, so he just responded and waited for her to ask questions.
Adeline looked at the haggard and well-behaved appearance of the handsome young man and couldn't help but be distracted. She wondered how Mu Baixing, with his icy personality, could have kidnapped such a cute child.
Adeline immediately realized something was wrong.
Don't say anything like "ice face" now...
Adeline cleared her throat.
"In the battle yesterday, your last shot was in energy resonance, using the residual energy of the star line to create a huge explosion, right?" She asked Mingyu with the last glimmer of hope.
Mingyu nodded.
"The devouring nature of spiritual power isn't a cheat. Not all energy can be used by you. If you absorb energy across levels... for example, if A- or S-level spiritual power were to absorb 3S-level energy, the absorption rate would be very slow. Therefore, you can't detonate Black Tide creatures with energy levels above 3S. You can only rely on our light cannon."
Adeline stated rigorously, "Unless it's an S-level absorbing an A-level, it can be completed in an instant. Otherwise, even if it's the same level, it will take some time to complete."
"But the Star Line." She pinched the cigarette between her fingers. "The residual energy of the Star Line comes from the Celtic King, the remnant of the cannon that he fired with all his might in a desperate attempt. The Star Line is composed of 3S energy fragments from 3S, but when you and Mu Boxing absorbed their energy... you didn't use it for even a second."
“It’s so easy.”
"So fast that it's like the remnants of your own spiritual energy."
Mingyu: “…”
Mingyu exclaimed, feeling that her logic was clear and understandable and could not be refuted.
Adeline: “…”
Adeline's fingers, holding the cigarette, trembled slightly.
"Um..." She rarely spoke with a cautious tone, looking at Mingyu and said, "Your boyfriend doesn't hold grudges, right?"
Mingyu hesitated: "...What grudge?"
"That's right. When he first started out on his own, he was weak with those few colorful hairs. I stole his business a few times. Although he won it back soon after..."
"I also tried to dig out that purple-haired guy who was repairing Starship Thief Six... Of course, I didn't succeed, and he ended up taking away a few people."
"Well, there's another resource auction going on, and we're going to have to compete with him for the price, but we really need that thing..."
Mingyu: “…”
"They're just small matters. Actually, the relationship between our two exploration teams is pretty good," Adeline said with a smile. "But I didn't expect that... your God of Killing would suddenly become the noble... that... Celtic King."
"Really?" She had known Mu Boxing for a few years, but her familiarity with his mental power was not as deep as Ming Yu's. "What do you think? Are the ripples of his mental power and the residual energy left by the star line... the same?"
“Boom.”
Suddenly there was a slight sound outside the ward, and the door was pushed open from the outside.
Hao Ru and An Qiang, who had been eavesdropping from the corner, lost control of their emotions and banged their heads against the door, cracking it open a crack. They were stacked on top of each other, their four eyes fixed on Ming Yu with a look of extreme shock. A second later, realizing they had been caught, they simply pushed the door open a little further.
"...Really...really?!" An Qiang's voice trembled as he confirmed with Mingyu.
Hao Ru tightly grasped her partner's shoulders and also looked at the young man on the hospital bed.
Mingyu: “…”
Mingyu opened his mouth, unable to bear the two people's surprised, happy, fearful and expectant gazes as if they were waiting for the judgment of the goddess of fate.
Mingyu: “…”
Mingyu was silent for a while, feeling that at least in this matter, he should not take on such an important role of unveiling the last veil.
...What's more, even he himself has not heard Mu Baixing admit it in person!
Mingyu looked at Adeline, then at Hao Ru and An Qiang, and was speechless for a moment. In the end, he could only blink innocently.
"I was only concerned with that Black Tide creature at the time," the young man said sincerely. "How about you wait until he wakes up and then... ask him yourself?"
