Chapter 15: First Preliminary Match (Part 5)
Mu Baixing looked at Mingyu and described the situation indifferently: "His mental strength is overdrawn, and his mental domain is severely overloaded. He is just one step away from mental collapse."
Mingyu: “…”
"What...what..." Mingyu's pupils shrank slightly. Although he tried his best to suppress his expression, a look of disbelief and fear still flashed in the depths of his eyes.
Mental strength collapses, leading to death due to energy chaos.
No one wants to be associated with the term mental collapse.
Mingyu never expected that this word would be related to himself.
...Why? What had he done to cause his mental domain to overload? Was it just while drawing the blueprints?
Because he'd used his mental power to organize his thoughts, unknowingly overloading his mental domain? Was it so easy? Those few mental tentacles that were better than nothing...
Fear gripped him, causing him to momentarily forget that this was the virtual space of the Star Navigation Tournament, where death would only result in being ejected from the tournament. Although hospitalization was unavoidable due to the high fidelity of the Star Navigation Tournament, it wasn't life-threatening.
Mu Baixing stood by the bed and looked at him, knowing that he understood the seriousness of the matter.
"Your mental power type is special." Mu Baixing said.
Mental powers that assist thinking are rare. Mingyu has apparently begun using them, but he doesn't yet know the details.
Like a novice who has never been taught.
Such performance is very unusual.
Humans opened schools of spiritual power more than a hundred years ago, and institutions similar to fighting clubs also offer spiritual power courses.
Although everyone's mental power characteristics are different, and more advanced uses of mental power require each person to explore on their own, the most basic ways to use mental power, as well as how to judge the intensity of mental power use and avoid mental domain overload, will definitely be included in the course.
But Mingyu seemed to know nothing about this.
Mu Baixing lowered his eyes.
The designer's mental power is so weak that it's excessive, and the way he uses it is unusual.
But if the other party doesn't want to say, he won't ask.
Mingyu lay in bed, dazed and terrified. His mind was a mess, but he remembered what he had once told Mu Baixing and Wucai Toumao that he was also a non-awakened human.
When he first met his teammates, he subconsciously didn't want to reveal too many details about himself. But now, being exposed, he felt a little embarrassed. Mingyu wanted to explain, but he didn't know how to start. As he stared at Mu Baixing, he took in more details about the man.
The man looked like he had just showered. His black hair was damp, the ends damp. His combat uniform was open, revealing a tight-fitting combat vest.
Such attire originally had a casual temperament, but that casualness was completely suppressed by his cold and powerful aura.
Mu Baixing was looking at him with a frown on his face. Under Mingyu's gaze, his pale lips moved, and he uttered four words in a plain and slightly cold voice.
"Take care of yourself." He confirmed that Mingyu's face was no longer terrifyingly pale and had regained its color, so he withdrew his gaze.
Without asking any more questions, he turned and walked away.
When leaving, he helped Mingyu close the door of the lounge compartment.
The door closed with a very light click.
Mingyu: “…”
Mingyu felt like a third-rate actor about to go on stage, only to have the only audience member leave just as the performance was about to begin. He felt like Mu Boxing's tone had just sounded a bit angry, so he immediately jumped out of bed, opened the door, and chased after him, saying, "Hey...!"
His voice was amplified by the empty passage. Mingyu realized that it was impolite to call him that, so he quickly changed his tone and said, "Brother Mu?"
The slender figure in the corridor paused slightly.
Mu Baixing turned around and looked at him.
There was a hint of doubt in his blue pupils surrounded by black, and he didn't understand why Mingyu followed him out.
Mingyu realized that Mu Baixing was probably not angry because of his concealment.
Everyone has secrets that they don't want others to know.
Mu Boxing is mature enough to know that there is no need to get to the bottom of everything, and he will not hold a grudge about it.
Mingyu then relaxed under this gaze.
"Sorry, that was our first meeting." He had been struggling with how to begin his explanation, so he simply said, "My mental strength is too low, so I didn't tell you, thinking it was better to keep things simple."
Mu Baixing hummed and said calmly, "Reasonable."
Mingyu blinked, hesitated for a moment, and then asked, "Then what are you... angry about?"
Mu Baixing: “…No.”
The man frowned, said nothing more, and just tilted his head towards the lounge.
"Go in," he said, "and get some sleep before coming out."
Mingyu said "oh", opened the door half-believing and half-doubting, and then stopped.
"...design drawings!" He suddenly remembered that he almost forgot about the important matter!
Just now, when his mental domain was overloaded, he felt a headache and wanted to vomit, so he rushed out of the modeling room. But at that time, his design drawings had not yet completed the feasibility assessment! He didn't know whether it had passed the feasibility assessment yet, and what still needed improvement...
Mingyu quickly closed the door and walked towards the modeling room. When he turned around, he met Mu Baixing's gaze which had not yet moved away.
Mingyu: “…”
For some reason, he felt that Mu Boxing's gaze at this moment was cold... like a doctor looking at a patient who kept committing suicide.
Mingyu felt inexplicably guilty.
He coughed dryly and said tentatively, "I haven't seen the modeling results of the design draft yet. I'll wait until I submit the design draft... then rest?"

"Brother LU replaced our engine and tail with a brand new one?" In the maintenance room, Red Hair sat on the crossbar of the robotic arm, looking at the prompts on the panel. "So these two parts don't need to be repaired?"
Orange Hair was leaning on him and feeling sleepy, but was startled by his loud howl and almost fell off the mechanical arm.
Green Hair was standing on the workbench behind them, with a heavy operating device half a person's height on his right shoulder. His body was tense and he was operating the panel with his left hand. He paused and looked back when he heard the words.
"So good?!" He turned to the red-haired man in disbelief, "Did the boss know about this? That's why he asked us to inspect those two parts last..." He finished the last bit of work in his hand, removed the operating device and looked around, "Where's the boss? He was sitting there before, but he left over an hour ago and I don't know where he went..."
"I don't know. Maybe he went to find Brother LU." Lanmao sat on the lounge chair outside the work area and stretched out.
The maintenance bay was shaped like a circle around the starship, with the lower half of the interior serving as the maintenance area, and the rest area outside, separated by a man-high guardrail. He had originally been about to begin repairing the tail wing, but while changing equipment, he saw the status update on the information panel a few minutes earlier than Red Hair did. He also received a notification from Mu Baixing, so he temporarily returned to the rest area to rest.
"The new engine and tail wing have arrived." The purple-haired man's voice sounded.
The gate on the front side of the maintenance bay opened, the gate connecting the maintenance bay and the manufacturing room opened, and the conveyor belt turned to deliver a brand new engine and tail wing.
Zimao's emotions had calmed down, and he tapped the control panel in front of him with a serious expression. Huge mechanical arms extended from either side of the maintenance bay wall, and under Zimao's control, they performed extremely precise movements, completing the replacement of the engine and tail wing.
"Okay!" Blue Hair jumped up, "I'll re-solder the surrounding circuit panels—"
"Brother LU is amazing." Green Hair finished his work and glanced at the time. "It's only been six hours since we started training, and you've already designed a new engine and tail wing? They must have passed the feasibility test in one go."
Everyone was silent for a moment.
"I told you he's a top student! He's a big shot!" Red Hair nodded and said seriously, "I can tell by the look of his avatar!"
The others all thought what he said was very true and nodded seriously.
"With Brother LU here, maybe we can really make it through the Star Region Tournament?" Red Hair said, "We're here not only to make some money for the Exploration Team, but more importantly, the boss said we can take the final ranking reward of the Star Region Tournament..."
"Hurry!" Blue Hair didn't take off the mask covering his face. "Hurry and repair the starship and install the new modified parts. Don't let us be eliminated in the first qualifying match due to lack of resources..."
He manipulated the workbench to move in mid-air, completing the final weld quickly and precisely. Ten minutes later, he closed the last hull panel of the starship, and Zimao activated the scan and inspection program in the maintenance bay.
"Buzz--" A low sound of mechanical shaft pulling came from the working area of the maintenance cabin, and the interior of the working area ceiling opened to both sides, revealing a giant searchlight inspection device.
Soft white light enveloped the starship from top to bottom.
"Scanning progress - 20% - 50% - 75% - 100% - Scan completed - Starship damaged parts: 0 - Starship assembly completion: 100% - Starship status: excellent, can continue sailing -"
Zimao looked through the scan results intently, confirming that every specific value was within the normal range.
Orange-haired and Red-haired didn't quite understand the data. They took a few steps back and stood by the door, hearing footsteps in the passage behind them.
"Boss!" Red Hair turned around and said, "You're back just in time—ah..."
Red Hair: “…”
Red Hair: “…Ah?”
