Chapter 20: First Preliminary Match (10)
Mu Baixing tilted his head.
The designer leaned in closer, his eyes filled with a deep desire for knowledge, a desire that came not from curiosity but from a desire for comparison.
Mu Baixing: "A-. No special properties at the moment."
Once the energy level reaches the A-level range, mental power can transform and may also possess special properties. Mu Boxing's mental power has a high degree of plasticity, but it is just an ordinary high-intensity offensive mental power.
After the words fell, Mu Baixing clearly saw a deep disappointment in his designer's eyes.
Mingyu let out a long sigh, "How come it's only A-?" Unconvinced and surprised, he said, "That shot you just made was so powerful!"
"My mental power is highly explosive, and the instantaneous burst intensity is much higher than the stable output intensity." Mu Baixing stated calmly.
He turned to Mingyu, his blue eyes with black circles around them looked at the young man beside him, "You are not satisfied with me."
Ming Yu: “…No, not really.” He said with a bit of guilt when Mu Baixing looked at him like that, “A- is very impressive, surpassing 99% of the ships in the entire star field!”
The young man nodded as he spoke, retreating back to his seat. He looked away, paused for a second, then raised his hand again, still very sincerely, pinching his fingers and thumb together, leaving a tiny gap. "I'm just a little bit... a little bit, uh, disappointed."
Mingyan's childhood sweetheart is naturally close to Mingyan, so she's at odds with Mingyu, always mocking him and saying he's a useless kid being raised by his family. Not only is he sucking the blood of Ming's parents now, but he'll also have to suck Mingyan's blood to survive in the future.
Mingyu was annoyed by the thought of that ship's arrogant and scornful look. Mu Baixing, on the other hand, was good in every way except for his obsession with handsome face-shaping. So why was Mu's mental power level lower than that idiot Fei Lun?!
Mingyu was inexplicably unwilling to accept this, and he didn't know how to explain to Mu Baixing his ridiculous desire to win.
"It's not that you're bad." He hesitated for a few times, not knowing how to explain, and simply turned to praise, "I mean, Brother Mu, you're actually very good and amazing--!"
The turn of phrase is somewhat abrupt, and the word 'actually' makes the matter even more obvious.
Mu Baixing snorted and laughed when he heard this.
His laughter was rather cold, causing the red-haired man beside him to shrink his neck. But he secretly glanced at his boss's expression and found that he didn't seem to be really angry.
He touched the back of his head and was about to tell Mingyu about Mu Baixing's glorious deeds to help his boss leave a more positive impression on Brother LU, but a crisp bell rang softly in the cockpit.
"bite--"
The three-day countdown reached zero and the competition officially ended.
The competition ended with a notification chime echoing through all participating teams' channels. The virtual universe outside the starport closed, and any starships that hadn't entered the port were eliminated.
The game ending screen automatically popped up in front of everyone, and Mingyu saw the words "Congratulations to the Colorful Team for passing the first round! Team ranking: 2222." at first glance.
“Ahhhhhhh——!” The cab was filled with enthusiastic cheers from the colorful-haired brothers.
Mingyu also raised a smile.
After passing the first round, they can continue to go on together!
This is just the beginning.
The red-haired man grabbed his shoulders and hugged him, and several other people immediately came up.
"Brother LU is awesome————" Red Hair shouted excitedly, "Boss is awesome——We are all awesome——!! Ahhhh——"
"This month's rent is paid—" Orange Hair also shouted, "Our maintenance station doesn't need to be closed—"
"You can buy cantaloupe-flavored nutritional supplements again—"
Mingyu thought about the Outer Harbor Star Region that Mu Baixing mentioned, and realized that they should be gathered together in reality.
He raised his head and caught a glimpse of Mu Baixing's movements through the gaps between Hongmao's waving arms.
The man leaned against the driver's seat, his arms folded, seemingly displeased with the red-haired man's clamor. He frowned, as if annoyed, but remained silent, only slightly shaking his head. Then he stood up straight.
"Let's go." The man reached out and pulled the red-haired man off Mingyu. "Log off and rest." As he spoke, he turned to Mingyu and gently tapped his temple with his free left hand, hinting at him, "Get more rest. Be careful here."
Mingyu said "oh" and laughed.
He knew that Mu Boxing was hinting at him not to misuse his mental power and cause overload.
"Then I'll log off." He waved to the group. After the first round, there would be a ten-day break until the second round. However, the second round's questions would be distributed the following evening, and as a starship designer, Mingyu would then begin designing the model structure for their next round of starships.
For Mingyu, there is not much time to rest.
He clicked the logout button, and the world suddenly faded away in his pupils. Mingyu was in a trance for a moment, and a moment later, he opened his eyes in the virtual competition cabin sent by the Star Navigation Competition.
The cabin door opened upwards, Mingyu sat up, looked at his dim dormitory, and sat in the virtual cabin for a while as if in a daze.
He had never felt his dormitory was so quiet.
The bustling world fell silent in an instant. The passionate voices of the colorful hairs faded, the warmth on their shoulders vanished, and the figures that had just been before my eyes vanished in an instant.
Mingyu exhaled, stood up, moved to the bed, and fell on his back.
After the competition, the physical fatigue caused by the long virtual space voyage was faithfully transmitted by the virtual cabin. In the quiet dormitory, Mingyu even felt more exhausted than he had just been in the starship cockpit.
But I don’t want to sleep for the moment.
Mingyu tossed and turned for a while before reconnecting to the Star Network. This time, he switched to the simple light screen mode and opened the Star Navigation Competition interface. He found that the list of his teammates' avatars were all gray and offline.
He wasn't surprised. He closed the list and reopened the ranking information.
"First Place: Southeast Star Region, Slayer. Captain and Pilot: White Elephant. Observer:..."
"Second place: Central Star Region, Lieyang. Captain and Observer: Ming Yan. Pilot:..."
…
Mingyu: “…”
Mingyu turned over unhappily, turned off the screen, buried his face in the pillow, pulled up the quilt, and muttered to himself, "Sleep."
