0040 Meeting with an acquaintance
After dinner, the temperature outside finally dropped, and Wan Lanlan looked at the groups of people strolling around the training field and felt a little restless.
"Yueyue, let's go downstairs and play. Look, there are so many people down there."
Song Yue looked down and saw that the training field was brightly lit, and there were indeed many people walking around on it, as well as groups of people sitting on the grass.
Song Yue was itching to participate in a group activity for the first time, but when she remembered what Su He'an had said, she gave up the idea of going out.
Wan Lanlan hugged Song Yue affectionately and said, "Let's go down for a while, okay? Military training starts tomorrow, and I definitely won't have the energy to go out and about then. Let's take advantage of the fact that I'm still alive and relaxed tonight and go out for a bit."
Song Yue hesitated for a moment, but in the end she couldn't resist Wan Lanlan's aggrieved look.
"Okay, but we can't go to places with few people, we need to come back early."
Wan Lanlan readily agreed, "I understand."
The two of them left in high spirits.
Mi Chuxue and Yu Binglan were not interested and did not go out.
When we got downstairs, all we could see were people.
Couples were strolling around the playground, and several small groups were sitting on the grass or steps chatting, creating a lively atmosphere.
Wan Lanlan pulled Song Yue along and walked towards the playground. It was too hot during the day, so the two of them hadn't really had a chance to look around properly.
After walking around for more than half an hour, Song Yue felt a little tired, and the two of them gradually lost interest and prepared to go back to the dormitory to wash up.
"Yueyue, wait for me over there. I want to go to the convenience store to buy something, and I thought I'd buy it on the way back."
Wan Lanlan pointed to a bench by the roadside, next to a street lamp, and surrounded by people coming and going, so it was quite safe.
Song Yue nodded, as her legs were a little sore anyway.
"Then hurry up, I'll sit there and wait for you."
Wan Lanlan waved her hand and ran away quickly.
Song Yue took out her phone and checked the time. It was already past eight o'clock, almost nine o'clock, but the number of people on the playground was increasing.
Many people probably share Wan Lanlan's sentiment: to take advantage of the energy they still have tonight and do a good job of shopping.
Suddenly a shadow appeared in front of me.
Song Yue subconsciously looked up.
"Song Yue?"
Song Yue looked at the boy standing in front of her in surprise. He seemed somewhat unfamiliar, yet there was also a strange sense of familiarity about him.
"Who are you?... Brother Jin?" Her eyes widened, and she looked at the boy in front of her with shock.
Yin Xingjin's eyes flickered, and the corners of his mouth turned up. He couldn't help but step closer to her: "Is it really you? Yueyue!"
His excited voice grew louder, drawing the attention of passersby, who then couldn't help but reveal a hint of mockery.
Song Yue was shocked to see him suddenly appear in front of her.
"Weren't you... adopted? How come you're here?!"
Yin Xingjin calmed himself down and looked at Song Yue with a smile, "My adoptive parents came back here for work, so I came back with them!"
"Great! I thought I'd never see you again! What class are you in now?"
Looking at the still petite girl in front of me, her skin was much whiter than before, and her eyes sparkled with a dazzling light that made my heart melt.
“Let’s… go somewhere else…” Yin Xingjin glanced at the crowd around him, some of whose eyes kept drifting over, and suggested, “We’ll talk about it later. I’m in the same class as you now, and I share a dorm with Su He’an.”
Upon hearing this, Song Yue immediately smiled and said, "Really? That's great!" Then, noticing that the atmosphere around her was a bit strange, she agreed.
She picked up her phone and sent a message to Wan Lanlan, telling her to go back first.
The two then found a quiet, dark corner to sit down.
Looking at the little girl he hadn't seen in so long, Yin Xingjin said sadly, "I went to the orphanage to look for you as soon as I got back here... but... the orphanage was closed down, and I don't know where you went?"
"The orphanage has been disbanded?!"
"You didn't know? Apparently, the orphanage was reported for illegally abusing children and was shut down by the government. The children there were all sent to other places in batches."
Song Yue pursed her lips: "Oh, I didn't know! I've been adopted by my uncle for almost half a year."
Are they... good to you?
Actually, without asking, Yin Xingjin could tell from her lifestyle that she had gained weight in her face, grown taller, and was much more vibrant than before, no longer looking dull and numb.
When talking about her brothers and uncles, Song Yue didn't even realize that her face was full of smiles: "They've all been very good to me! I'm doing very well now!"
"That's good..." Yin Xingjin's eyes fell heavily on her, listening to her constantly talking about family matters.
My heart ached with a bittersweet feeling. The little girl hidden deep inside me had grown up, but it seemed that she had found someone more important to her than herself.
