0049 Don't get used to it

Back home, the two sat silently in the car.

"Big brother, I was busy cooking, and when I got back, he asked me to come and pick you up," Su Huarong explained why she was there.

Song Yue lowered her eyes and stared at her fingertips: "Don't you have anything you want to ask me?"

Su Huarong rubbed his forehead, leaned against the car window, and looked at the little girl beside him. She was petite and delicate, and her face had finally gained some weight back thanks to her older brother. She still looked very young and innocent. It was unbelievable that his little sister, who always smiled at them and looked so naive, would appear before him in such a state.

The shock he felt was indescribable.

“I’m waiting for you to tell me. If you don’t want to tell me, I won’t press you. If you want to tell me, I’ll be a good listener.”

Song Yue's eyes were slightly red, her large eyes brimming with tears, threatening to fall but not quite, which made his heart ache at the sight.

Su Huarong immediately unbuckled her seatbelt, anxiously went around to the other side, opened the car door, pulled her into her arms, and then sat down herself, holding the little girl in her lap.

"Why are you crying... I didn't say anything to you?" Su Huarong's unease dissipated instantly. No matter what kind of person she was, as long as she didn't cry and was happy every day, that was all that mattered.

Song Yue sniffed and pretended to be strong, saying, "I didn't cry."

Su Huarong chuckled and said, "Okay, Yueyue is the best. She won't cry easily."

Song Yue felt frustrated by her obviously coaxing attitude towards a child, and couldn't help but raise her hand and punch her a few times.

It's good that she's throwing a tantrum. Su Huarong let her vent her emotions and waited until she calmed down before saying, "Do you want to tell your second brother about what happened earlier?"

Song Yue rubbed her eyes, the redness at the corners of her eyes spreading even more. She quickly looked up at Su Huarong before relaxing and burying herself in Su Huarong's arms.

He had a fresh scent, mixed with the smell of hospital disinfectant, but it wasn't unpleasant; it just gave people a sense of cleanliness and tranquility.

Song Yue calmed down immediately and recounted what had just happened in detail.

"You mean she tricked you into going out, but actually wanted to push you down the stairs?" Su Huarong's face darkened, her brows furrowed, and her voice lowered.

As Song Yue leaned against him, she could clearly feel his body tense up, as if he were about to unleash a torrent of anger.

Song Yue quickly reassured her, "Luckily, I'm used to this kind of thing from when I was in the orphanage. I could tell she was a little nervous, so I was on guard. In the end, she bumped into me too hard and couldn't control her strength, so she fell down."

Su Huarong looked at her with pity. The word "cold habit" came out of her mouth so plainly, but it made his heart clench.

"Did you find out who was behind this?" The Su family is very protective of their own, especially Song Yue, who is clearly the apple of their brothers' eye.

In the past few months, not to mention spoiling her, the level of pampering has been increasing day by day.

Knowing that his younger sister had almost been bullied at school, he naturally wanted to retaliate.

Seeing his intention, Song Yue immediately said, "Second Brother, could we not tell the other brothers about this? I want to handle it myself, okay?"

Su Huarong shook her head in disagreement: "This matter is so serious that we should talk to a few people in the family. Just focus on your studies at school, and leave everything else to your brothers. Do you remember what Dad said back then? Just be happy every day."

He didn't want to see Song Yue at the stairwell again. Her lonely figure, cold and closed-off expression, and dull, lifeless eyes were a shadow of her former self.

Song Yue grabbed his arm, looking aggrieved. "Second brother, I want to do it myself. If I really can't handle it, then you can help me, okay?"

Su Huarong was pleased with her coquettish way of leaning against him and acting cute, but deliberately showed a hint of displeasure on his face.

"Is it good, Second Brother! You're the best! Second Brother..." After letting Song Yue fuss a few times, Su Huarong finally relented, tightening his arms around the small body in his arms; she was still too thin and frail.

After getting off the bus, Su Huarong still worriedly reminded Song Yue, "Before, your brothers weren't around to help you when you were bullied. We couldn't help you then. This absolutely can't happen again! If anyone bullies you, fight back. Your brothers are all behind you, don't be afraid!" He stroked her soft hair with his large hand. "Don't get used to this. Your second brother would rather you bully others."

Song Yue was stunned for a moment, then revealed a satisfied smile, like a soft and tender cake, sweet to the core, making one wish to give her their heart.

"And that Su He'an, when he comes back I'm going to give him a good talking to. How could he leave you alone in the classroom!" Just thinking about what would have happened to Song Yue that afternoon made Su Huarong's anger churn.

God knows how anxious he was when he heard a sharp female voice and the sound of someone falling as soon as he stepped onto the stairs that afternoon. He rushed up the stairs as fast as he could, feeling as if he were being burned by fire.

He didn't want to experience that feeling again.

Song Yue quickly stepped forward and grabbed his sleeve: "Second brother, didn't we say we wouldn't tell them about this yet? If you make a scene like this, everyone will definitely know!"

Su Huarong took her hand, looked into her shifty eyes, and finally sighed silently, "Okay, I won't say anything this time. I'll save it for next time."
