Chapter 133: Filming in person

With his boss's instructions, Wu Xiangkun began casting. Taking advantage of the popularity of the previous film, the main cast remained the same, and everyone was familiar with each other, so there was no need for re-adjustment, which made filming easier and more convenient for communication.

Some other actors still need to be selected.

Although some supporting roles need to be selected this time, many actors still came to participate in the casting because of the fame of Wanhua Film Company.

Just when everyone was busy, something happened to Wu Xiangkun.

Ye Shuning only found out after receiving a call from Qin Zongye, "Xiao Ning, Director Wu was in a car accident."

Ye Shuning frowned after hearing Qin Zongye's dull voice on the phone and asked, "How did the car accident happen? Is the injury serious?"

Qin Zongye said, "One leg and one arm are broken, and two ribs are broken. The injuries are quite serious, but fortunately they are not life-threatening. They are currently undergoing surgery in the hospital. I am in the hospital right now."

Ye Shuning said, "The driver didn't let him get away, did he?"

Qin Zongye said, "The driver was driving under the influence and has admitted responsibility. He has also promised to cover Director Wu's medical expenses and provide compensation. However, this incident may not have been an accident; it may have been deliberately orchestrated."

Ye Shuning's heart sank when she heard this, and she said, "I'll go to the hospital right away, we'll talk later."

Ye Shuning packed up and went to the hospital. She met Qin Zongye and Director Wu's family in front of the operating room.

Ye Shuning walked over to Qin Zongye and asked quietly, "How is it? How long has the operation been going on?"

Qin Zongye also whispered back, "The person has been in there for two hours. We don't know the final situation yet."

Ye Shuning comforted Director Wu's family and waited outside the operating room with everyone else.

Director Wu taught her a lot and could be considered half her teacher. He was in his forties and Ye Shuning regarded him as an elder.

After waiting for more than three hours, the door of the operating room finally opened and Wu Xiangkun was pushed out.

Wu Xiangkun's family hurried over to ask what happened.

The doctor said: "The operation went smoothly. You will recover quickly if you rest well."

Wu Xiangkun was then transferred to the ward. He was still unconscious, so Ye Shuning and Qin Zongye comforted the Wu family and went to Wu Xiangkun's attending physician to inquire about his condition.

The doctor informed me that Wu Xiangkun's legs and arms were severely injured and he couldn't move until they healed. He would need rehabilitation. His ribs hadn't damaged any internal organs, so he could just rest and recuperate.

However, Wu Xiangkun will not be able to work in the short term, so the movie he was planning to shoot cannot be filmed.

After learning about Wu Xiangkun's injury, Ye Shuning and Qin Zongye went to the film company together. After entering Qin Zongye's office, Qin Zongye made a cup of tea for Ye Shuning.

He sat on the sofa nearby and rubbed his temples to ease the headache. "It looks like Director Wu won't be able to come back to film in the near future."

Ye Shuning looked at the haggard Qin Zongye and knew that he must be very troubled by this matter. "Do you think this incident was deliberately arranged by someone?"

Qin Zongye nodded, sighed, and said, "Ever since our movie became a huge hit at the box office, many people have been eyeing Director Wu and wanting to ask him to make a movie. But Director Wu is a contracted employee of Wanhua and it's impossible for him to make a movie for another film company. Besides, you have a new script, and he is ready to create another brilliant achievement.

But our film is so profitable, the domestic and international box office combined is 60 million, can you imagine how crazy this number is? That's dozens of times the profit.

Some people also want to ask you to write a script, but I have already spread the word that you are protected by the Qin family, so no one will bother you for the time being.

But someone was jealous and didn't want our new film to start filming smoothly because they couldn't invite Director Wu, so they bribed the driver to hit Director Wu."

Ye Shuning frowned and asked, "Have you found out who is behind this?"

Qin Zongye shook his head and said, "It's not that easy to investigate. The driver just accepted the money. I don't know who is behind it. But I will continue to investigate. If you want to cut off my financial resources, you have to see if I agree.

"But the most important thing right now is that Director Wu is injured, and filming can't continue. Most of the preparations were complete and we were about to start shooting, but this happened. Finding another director will delay production for a while, and the new director will have to re-work with the cast and crew and re-analyze the script. A new director doesn't understand our style and may not be able to achieve the desired effect."

Ye Shuning listened to Qin Zongye's words, turned her teacup around and thought for a while before looking up and saying, "I'll be the director. I'll shoot the movie myself. Just find me an assistant director."

Qin Zongye looked at Ye Shuning in surprise when he heard this, "You took the photo yourself?"

Ye Shuning nodded and said, "I learned a lot from the last movie. Besides, I wrote the script, so I know best what kind of effect the film should achieve. If we find an assistant director to coordinate the work, it shouldn't be a problem."

Qin Zongye completely believed in Ye Shuning's ability, and he felt that adding an assistant director would be no problem at all. Now some problems were easily solved.

Those who tried to stop the filming of the movie were in vain.

After Wu Xiangkun woke up, Qin Zongye and Ye Shuning went to the hospital to see him.

Wu Xiangkun also had a minor head injury, wrapped in gauze, and his arms and legs were also immobilized. He saw his boss and screenwriter Shu coming to see him and said weakly, "I won't be able to work for a while. What will happen to our movie?"

Qin Zongye said, "Director Wu, take good care of your injuries and don't worry about work. Screenwriter Shu has decided to direct the film himself, so don't worry."

Wu Xiangkun felt relieved when he heard that the filming would not be stopped. If the filming was delayed because of him, he would really feel ashamed of the high salary his boss gave him.

If another director had shot this movie, he would have felt a little regretful, but he felt much better knowing that it was screenwriter Shu who shot the movie.

"Shu is definitely qualified to be the director. I feel relieved to have Shu personally direct this movie."

Ye Shuning's graduation thesis has been passed and she is just waiting for the school to arrange the exam. She no longer needs to go to class and can devote herself to the work of making movies.

Qin Zongye hired a more experienced director to serve as assistant director to help Ye Shuning share the work.

Ye Shuning just needs to focus on taking every shot well.

Ye Shuning's requirements are even higher than when Director Wu made his last movie.

The actors also knew the strength of screenwriter Shu and were somewhat familiar with her temper. In addition, the boss was often on the set to supervise the production, so no one dared to act rashly.
