Chapter 34

Chapter 34

Kim Cho-wan declined Ran Hyun's invitation.

But before she could speak, Li Xing'en pulled her to sit down at the table. The boy's gentle smile made Jin Chuwan swallow back the words she was about to say.

It's just breakfast...

Although the time is a bit off now, I've already gotten up late, so it won't make a difference if I delay a little longer.

After comforting herself, Jin Chuwan turned to look at the clanging kitchen and then pointed.

"Is he really okay?"

Li Xing'en chuckled at Jin Chuwan's worried expression. "What problem could there be? If the kitchen explodes, we can just go to the Ran family for money."

Ran Xian, who was in the kitchen, heard their conversation, narrowed his eyes, and let out a soft hum.

Jiang Chen was the last to enter. He glanced at Jin Chuwan, who was sitting next to Li Xing'en, and then walked to the refrigerator to get a bottle of water.

Ran Xian wanted Jiang Chen to help him out, but Jiang Chen refused. Jin Chuwan glanced at the kitchen, intending to get up and help, but someone pressed her shoulder down and made her sit back down.

"Ignore him."

Jin Chuwan froze for a moment. She looked up at the ceiling and saw that the boy was standing behind her at some point, and was now pulling out a chair and sitting down.

Suddenly, Jin Chuwan felt a chill run down her spine. She glanced at the people on both sides, and then at the empty chair opposite her.

"Is there something you want to say to me?"

Surrounded on both sides, Jin Chuwan felt uneasy, as if she were being interrogated.

Li Xing'en frowned and glanced at Jiang Chen upon hearing this.

However, he quickly composed himself.

“Actually, it’s like this,” Li Xing’en picked up her water glass, took a sip, and then looked at Jin Chuwan beside her, “I’ve looked into the security situation in S City. Although there’s generally no problem, I’ve heard that some neighborhoods can get a bit chaotic at night, so I was thinking… since the house is big and not many people come here usually, why don’t you stay here with me…”

Upon hearing Li Xing'en's words, Jin Chuwan immediately understood. She turned to look at Jiang Chen, who was sitting lazily, seemingly lost in thought.

She opened her mouth and spoke almost without hesitation.

"Xing En, I know you mean well, but I still want to live alone."

She had waited too long. She had longed to return to her previous life, where she lived alone. Moreover, if she were to eat, live, and travel with Li Xing'en, she didn't know what rumors would spread if they were discovered.

"Don't worry, I'm not a child. I can take care of myself."

Jiang Chen glanced at Jin Chuwan beside him. Although it was his suggestion to let Jin Chuwan stay, he didn't really think she would agree.

Hearing this unequivocal rejection from the kitchen, Ran Xian didn't know whether to breathe a sigh of relief or a sigh of relief.

"If you're not staying here, where are you planning to rent a place? You've just arrived in S City and don't know much about this place. How about this, we'll find you a suitable place, and you can move over after everything's settled?"

Jin Chuwan glanced at the boy busy in the kitchen, then at Li Xingen and Jiang Chen, who didn't seem to find anything wrong with it.

However, Jin Chuwan felt somewhat anxious. She understood that they meant well and knew that finding a place to live was a trivial matter for them.

But she still felt some pressure.

For a moment, Jin Chuwan felt as if her life was being manipulated by these people.

However, she was probably being overly sensitive.

Jin Chuwan thought for a moment, then lowered her head and smiled. "There are many houses near the university. I'll go and look around in the next couple of days. If I really can't find one, then I can ask you for help. Also, please don't treat me like a child who can't take care of herself..."

She was already an expert at finding apartments in her past life.

Seeing that both roads were blocked, the three people in the house were somewhat frustrated, but Jiang Chen seemed calmer than the other two.

He's always been like this; very few things can move him, especially since he never thought Jin Chuwan would agree.

A short while later, Ran Xian brought out the fried rice.

Although the kitchen looked perfectly fine, the fried rice was immediately rejected by Li Xing'en as soon as it was served.

"If you had told me earlier that this was all you were capable of, I wouldn't have had any expectations."

Ran Xian didn't think there was anything wrong with it at all, and he immediately retorted when he heard this.

"If you don't want to eat it, then don't. It wasn't made for you in the first place."

The two of them talked back and forth.

But this time Jin Chuwan wasn't so worried. Although many male characters in novels are prone to fighting to the death at the slightest disagreement, they were clearly not that type.

During dinner, Li Xingen received a phone call. Judging from the voice, it seemed to be the CEO. Not long after, Li Xingen frowned and went upstairs. When he came down, he had changed his clothes and seemed to be going out.

However, before leaving, he handed Kim Cho-wan a set of keys.

"No need to rush to find a place to live, you can stay here as long as you like."

Kim Cho-wan neither nodded nor shook her head, but simply waved to Lee Sung-eun.

Ran Xian glanced at Li Xingen's worried look and smiled mockingly.

In his opinion, neither Jiang Chen nor Li Xing'en were usually fools, but they did things in a muddle when facing Jin Chuwan.

Even if you spend 24 hours a day with someone, if she doesn't love you, no matter how much you do, it's useless; if she loves you, no matter who else is around, her heart will still be with you.

If she doesn't love anyone, then all their jealousy and defensiveness would be meaningless.

In short, in Ran Xian's eyes, the only function of love is to make people stupid.

"If anything happens, feel free to call me."

Jin Chuwan felt somewhat helpless listening to Li Xing'en's repeated instructions.

"Go ahead and do what you need to do, I really don't need you to worry about me."

As she spoke, she nudged Li Xing'en, and only breathed a slight sigh of relief after he left.

She wasn't sure if it was just her imagination, but she felt that Li Xingen seemed a little too clingy...

--

Jin Chuwan was supposed to go out to look for a place to live after dinner, but when she picked up her bag, she saw Jiang Chen suddenly get up as well.

It seems he was walking with her.

Jin Chuwan frowned slightly. She didn't need anyone to accompany her. Just as she was thinking about how to refuse, Jiang Chen handed her two business cards.

"This landlord was recommended by an acquaintance; you can contact him."

Jin Chuwan took the business card, then glanced at Jiang Chen. The young man carried his water glass to the kitchen, seemingly not following her.

It seemed she had been overthinking things. Jin Chuwan raised her hand to touch the back of her neck, then walked out of the villa.

Ran Xian, who was clearing away the dishes, glanced at Jiang Chen who was walking over and showed a hint of surprise.

"I thought you would chase after him..."

Upon hearing this, Jiang Chen raised his eyelids slightly, but he did not reply.

Since moving out of the Jiang family, he and Jin Chuwan had almost lost contact. Even though he was slow to realize it, he could tell that she was avoiding him.

Although he didn't know what he had done wrong that made her avoid him so much.

"But you're doing it the right way."

Perhaps it was Jiang Chen's current dejected appearance that aroused Ran Xian's pity, or perhaps he simply couldn't bear to watch.

In short, Ran Xian mercifully analyzed the situation for Jiang Chen.

“Actually, you should know Jin Chuwan better than I do. She’s the kind of person who seems gentle on the surface but is actually very stubborn. The more you push her, the further she’ll run away. Just watch, if Li Xingen is still the same as before, he’ll be the first one out before long.”

Jiang Chen looked up at Ran Xian. In his memory, Ran Min had always been hostile to Jin Chuwan, but after just one training camp, they not only eased their relationship, but even the usually arrogant young master of the Ran family began to care about Jin Chuwan.

"You said Li Xing'en would be the first to be eliminated, so who will be the second, or who will be the third?"

Ran Xian meant well in his advice, but Jiang Chen pointed out the flaws in his words, which made him very unhappy.

The boy chuckled coldly, put down his chopsticks, picked up his clothes, and walked out of the villa.

He must be out of his mind to feel sorry for Jiang Chen. He should just stand by and watch Jin Chuwan reject them one by one, watch them suffer from unrequited love and be tormented by their relationships.

Ran Xian took a deep breath at the villa entrance before striding away.

Jiang Chen glanced at Ran Xian's back in the room, then walked to the sofa and sat down. His phone showed his admission information for K University; the butler was probably handling the paperwork for him.

In his opinion, of all the things Ran Xian had just said, only the first sentence was correct.

Yes, he knows Kim Cho-wan very well.

Therefore, he knew very well that if he didn't force his way into her world, if he really let her leave, she would truly abandon him completely.
