Chapter 54
The boy's lighthearted tone seemed to carry a hint of worry and helplessness regarding his beauty. Jin Chuwan saw an empty car approaching and quickly waved it down.
"Why did you reject her... because that girl wasn't pretty enough?"
Yin Zhihua scratched his head, wondering why Jin Chuwan asked that. He briefly recalled their two brief meetings, then shook his head.
No, that's not it.
The taxi that was stopped quickly slowed down and pulled over to the side of the road.
Jin Chuwan helped Yin Zhihua into the car and then gave him her home address.
Neither of them spoke in the car. Yin Zhihua was in pain, while Jin Chuwan was feeling carsick due to the smell in the car. Fortunately, it wasn't too far from their neighborhood, only about a ten-minute drive.
Yin Zhihua initially thought Jin Chuwan was still living at Jiang Chen's house, but upon seeing this old neighborhood, she immediately realized what had happened.
"You moved? Didn't we agree I'd help you?"
Jin Chuwan paused for a moment, then answered.
"Because there wasn't much stuff, I didn't call you."
As she spoke, she pulled the keys out of her pocket. Fortunately, Li Xing'en had prepared a first-aid kit beforehand, which came in handy now.
After entering the house, Yin Zhihua peeked around in the one-bedroom apartment, seemingly very curious about Jin Chuwan's life. However, a dull pain shot through his arm, and he couldn't help but gasp.
He looked at Jin Chuwan, who suddenly grabbed his arm, and his eyes were slightly red.
"Can't you be a little gentler?"
At this time, Jin Chuwan's biological clock had already started to activate, and coupled with running all day, she was now starting to feel sleepy, so she moved a little faster.
"Please sit down first, I'll disinfect your wound."
Yin Zhihua obediently sat down. He watched as Jin Chuwan carried a chair to sit in front of him and began to apply the medicine rather clumsily, his heart pounding with anxiety.
"Can you do it? If not, I'll do it myself..."
Jin Chuwan didn't answer, but shook the saline solution in her hand. "You're so old, are you still afraid of pain?"
Although the tactic of provocation is outdated, it is still effective. Sure enough, Yin Zhihua shut up, but his expression soon turned ugly.
"This...it's not alcohol, is it?"
Jin Chuwan did not answer, but Yin Zhihua was already heartbroken. He closed his eyes, but after waiting for a long time, he did not feel the pain he had imagined, and finally relaxed.
When he opened his eyes, Jin Chuwan had already changed the medicine and applied it to him.
It doesn't hurt, but the color is really ugly, it looks so bad.
Yin Zhihua was a little disgusted, but he didn't dare to show it.
These old-style residential areas are basically close to streets or roads. Yin Zhihua heard the occasional car horns outside and glanced down at Jin Chuwan.
"Is this place too noisy? Will you be able to sleep?"
"There's nothing to keep me awake at, as long as these sounds aren't directed at my ears."
After packing up the medicine, Jin Chuwan placed the medicine box on the table. She glanced at Yin Zhihua, thought for a moment, and then took a pair of slippers from the doorway.
“That’s the bathroom. There are unused toothbrushes and towels in the cabinet. You can take them out if you need them. And then… tonight…” Jin Chuwan paused for a moment, “You have wounds, so you should sleep in the bed. I’ll make do on the sofa.”
This was the first time Yin Zhihua had been treated so politely and cared for by a girl, and he felt very uncomfortable. However, Jin Chuwan had already started to spread out a blanket on the sofa.
"Well, it's not actually that serious, you don't need to..."
Jin Chuwan was really sleepy, so she just glanced at Yin Zhihua.
"Stop fooling around, go and rest."
Yin Zhihua mumbled an "uh-huh," feeling that he must have hit his head on the fall today. His thoughts and words seemed to be disconnected, and he was like a stupid dog in front of Jin Chuwan, only able to shake his head or nod.
The boy went to the bathroom feeling depressed, and when he came out after washing up, he was still feeling down.
But by then Jin Chuwan had already lay down on the sofa. She closed her eyes, and it was unclear whether she was asleep or not. Yin Zhihua put down the towel and walked to the sofa to squat down.
"I didn't expect you to be so kind. I thought you wouldn't answer my call..."
After all, they were arguing about Li Xingen before they broke up during the day.
Yin Zhihua turned around and leaned against the sofa. Because he had just showered, there were still water droplets hanging on his neck. However, he didn't care. The towel was on his head; he was just too lazy to do it.
After the ceiling lights were turned off, the room became dim, but a table lamp was still on, so it wasn't pitch black.
Yin Zhihua glanced around casually.
Even when he lived with his mother, he had never lived in such a cramped room. Although it was called a living room, the dining table and sofa alone almost filled the entire space. He was a little unaccustomed to such a compact arrangement, yet strangely, he enjoyed this crowded state.
He couldn't help but turn around and glance at Jin Chuwan. She must have really fallen asleep, otherwise she would already be looking at him coldly with those brown eyes.
Thinking about it, Yin Zhihua chuckled to himself again. The boy's messy hair obscured his eyes, and even the slightly upturned corners of his eyes held a faint moisture. Yin Zhihua squatted cross-legged beside the low sofa. He was not thin; the loose hem of his clothes revealed the clearly defined muscles. His head was tilted to one side, resting on his right knee, but his gaze was fixed on the bouquet of roses that seemed out of place in the room.
He guessed that it was a gift from Li Xing'en.
So for a moment he had the urge to throw the flowers away.
However, he was inexplicably afraid of the imagined angry Kim Cho-wan, and in the end, he could only sulk alone.
"I've told you that guy is bad, why won't you believe me..."
Jin Chuwan did not hear the boy's mutterings.
She was very tired, slept soundly, and for some reason had a very absurd dream.
In her dream, fragments seemed to flash by rapidly. One moment she was in a dark, quiet room at night, forced to tilt her head back for a kiss; the next, she was in a sun-drenched garden, a boy on her lap teasing her fingertips with his lips. Jin Chuwan was flustered, but then suddenly pulled into a strong embrace. The other person's voice trembled as if they were crying, asking her who she truly loved…
In her dream, Jin Chuwan was extremely panicked. She was confused and terrified, and all she wanted to do was lock herself in her room to escape everything.
But it wasn't long before they seemed to have found her. Jin Chuwan heard the footsteps outside the door getting clearer, as if some voice was luring her out, but she didn't dare to move.
Until she heard intermittent knocking on the door.
"Knock knock knock—"
Kim Cho-wan opened her eyes wide in surprise.
--
Morning light streamed into the room through the gaps in the curtains, and a faint, sweet fragrance seemed to linger in the small living room. Jin Chuwan took a breath and finally realized that everything that had just happened was just a dream.
But the intermittent knocking continued.
"Knock knock—"
"Weren't you home on the first night?"
Jin Chuwan was stunned for a moment. When she heard Jin Chaoyang's voice, she was fully awake. She rubbed her head and was about to get up when she suddenly heard a soft hum next to her.
The boy had fallen asleep lying on her legs for some reason, but he was gradually waking up from her movements. He was still in the same position as when he first woke up, but his face looked terrible. It was obvious that his legs were going numb from squatting for so long.
Jin Chuwan was helpless. She didn't know why Yin Zhihua would choose to lie on the sofa instead of sleeping in his perfectly good bed, but her first priority was to open the door.
Jin Chuwan scratched her hair, walked to the door, and unlocked it while responding to Jin Chaoyang's voice.
There were no classes on weekends this semester, so Jin Chuwan didn't set an alarm. She glanced at her wrist in a daze and realized it was already 9:30.
She rarely oversleeps.
The door opened quickly. Jin Chuwan was still wondering how she had slept until now, but she soon became clear-headed.
Jin Chaoyang smiled awkwardly at her, while behind her, two young men stood aloof and dignified like gatekeepers.
The house was small to begin with, and once the door was opened, almost everything was visible.
Jin Chuwan remained relatively calm, but Jin Chaoyang looked like a cat on a hot tin roof. She instinctively covered her head to prevent herself from banging her head against the wall.
Her,
old--
sky--
Grandpa—
What kind of Asura opening box is this?!
Jin Chuwan, could you please tell her in advance before you spend a sweet night with that handsome guy?
If she had known, when she ran into those two downstairs, she would have made an excuse to send them away and smoothed things over!
Where would you find a scene like this, with two men barging into the house, grabbing people, and about to assault them?!
At this moment, Jin Chuwan did not notice Jin Chaoyang's bloodshot eyes. Jiang Chen and Li Xingen had knocked her down when they barged in. Now, looking at Yin Zhihua being lifted up, she felt it was all very absurd.
What are you guys doing?
Jin Chuwan, supporting her shoulder where she had been knocked down, felt slightly unsteady on her feet, perhaps due to the nightmare from the previous night. However, she still tried her best to explain calmly.
"Yin Zhihua was injured and had nowhere else to go, so he just stayed at my house for one night. Why are you all so angry?"
Jin Chuwan felt that this was her home and she had the right to let anyone stay temporarily, but her words did little to ease the tension.
Jin Chaoyang huddled at the doorway, not daring to utter a sound, but his bright, watery eyes stared unblinkingly into the room.
She swallowed carefully, worried about Jin Chuwan's situation while also excited to witness the legendary battleground firsthand.
Yin Zhihua had just woken up. He hadn't expected that he had slept on the sofa all night. He was in a daze when Jiang Chen rushed in and grabbed his collar.
He looked blank for a moment, but quickly realized his situation. He subconsciously glanced at Jin Chuwan leaning against the door. She was still wearing the white pajamas from last night. Because she had just gotten up, the neckline was a little loose, and her eyes were filled with drowsiness.
Therefore, such a scenario might indeed be a bit easy to misunderstand.
Under normal circumstances, he would have cooperated with Jin Chuwan's answer and given Jiang Chen a reassuring explanation.
But he seems a bit abnormal now.
The two people standing before her, adopting a protective stance, made his throat feel inexplicably dry and irritated.
He smiled, with a hint of flippancy.
"Hey, do you two have any manners at all? It's not very polite to barge into someone's house like this, is it?"
Yin Zhihua's words immediately drew a light laugh from Li Xing'en.
He glanced at Jiang Chen, who was standing motionless with a gloomy face, then stepped forward, took Yin Zhihua's collar, and punched him.
