Chapter 8

Chapter 8

When Jin Chuwan returned to the ward, she happened to run into the doctor who was making rounds.

After this examination, the doctor finally relented and said that Kim Cho-wan could be discharged from the hospital.

"You've mostly recovered, but you still need to be careful not to catch a cold. Also, since you're a bit weak, you should exercise more when you have time."

Jin Chuwan nodded as she listened. In fact, she also felt that her body was not healthy enough, so she had been planning to join a sports club after she got into university.

Thinking about the future, Jin Chuwan wanted to be discharged from the hospital as soon as possible, and she also needed to catch up on today's progress!

After taking the notes, the doctor looked up and glanced at Jin Chuwan.

"Should I call Jiang Chen to come pick you up?"

Jin Chuwan was surprised to hear this. She only knew that Uncle Jiang would contact this doctor whenever he was sick, but she did not expect that he also had Jiang Chen's number.

Seeing Jin Chuwan's expression, the doctor pushed up his glasses.

"Don't you know that I am Jiang Chen's cousin?"

"Oh, it's my cousin..."

Jin Chuwan gave a dry laugh. She really didn't know anything about Jiang Chen; all she knew was about the villa.

"So, should I contact Jiang Chen?"

When Kim Cho-wan saw the doctor about to take out his phone, she quickly refused.

"No need, no need. I'll take a taxi home myself. It's not far, only about ten minutes."

As Jin Chuwan spoke, she began to pack her things.

Actually, there wasn't much—just a jacket, a coin purse, a cell phone, and the lunchbox Jiang Chen had brought during the day.

"By the way, Doctor cousin, where do I go to complete the discharge procedures?"

Upon hearing Jin Chuwan's question, the doctor, who was about to check on other wards, suddenly stopped.

He glanced at the girl behind him.

"I don't call you Doctor Cousin, my name is Zhou Li, and you need to go over there to complete the procedures."

As Zhou Li spoke, he raised his hand and pointed in a direction, but after a short while he lowered his hand again.

"Never mind, it's a bit far. Let me take you there."

Jin Chuwan thanked him and then quietly followed behind Zhou Li.

Speaking of which, Jiang Chen's cousin doesn't look like Jiang Chen at all.

How should I put it?

Although Zhou Li appears to be quite refined and elegant on the surface, she gets the feeling that Zhou Li is a soulless, overworked office worker.

Just like most ordinary people in the real world.

Thinking of Jin Chuwan, she suddenly felt a pang of pity. He was the protagonist's cousin, yet he was having such a hard time.

Zhou Li dropped the person off and then went back. Jin Chuwan looked up and watched him go for a while, then shook her head.

This person has very dark circles under their eyes.

"What, little sister, are you interested in our Dr. Zhou?"

Hearing the nurses' teasing, Jin Chuwan was already somewhat numb. On her way here, she had already noticed many meaningful glances. Come to think of it, the nurses at this hospital seemed to become particularly energetic when it came to gossip.

Thinking it over, Jin Chuwan took out her bank card from her small wallet.

"How much is the total hospitalization fee?"

——

After being discharged from the hospital, Jin Chuwan hesitated for a while on the street with her bag on her back, but finally turned around and went to the bus stop.

She's still feeling the pinch after paying the hospital fees.

She wasn't from a wealthy family, and her daily expenses were limited.

Let's save money where we can.

Jin Chuwan, carrying a small bag, waited for the bus while lost in thought.

Since planning her future, Jin Chuwan has often lived a life of going between two points: the classroom, the library, the study room, or her room.

As an adult, she didn't feel lonely or isolated.

After all, most of the people we meet during our youth will disappear without us even noticing. So, whether we meet or not, it makes no difference to the ending.

The bus arrived shortly after, and after swiping her card, Jin Chuwan habitually went to find a seat at the very back.

Perhaps she was incredibly lucky today; despite it being rush hour, there were hardly any people on the bus.

When Kim Cho-wan turned around, she saw the huge glass window at the back of the bus and then slowly slowed down.

The orange-red sunset had somehow covered the entire sky, and in the slightly bumpy carriage, the crimson glow was framed by the glass into several consecutive paintings.

Being alone doesn't necessarily make you feel lonely.

For Jin Chuwan, even minor illnesses like colds and fevers are manageable on her own, even without anyone to take care of her. Going to the hospital alone or cooking and taking medicine by herself are not troublesome things; she can just persevere.

Even in the most monotonous of lives, we occasionally encounter beautiful things, such as the quiet train carriage and the sunset at this moment.

It would be nice if someone could watch it with her.

The moment this thought arises, it signifies loneliness.

Jin Chuwan was still in a daze, but soon she seemed to realize something and suddenly rushed to the driver's side.

"Excuse me, driver! I think I got on the wrong bus. Could you please stop for a moment?"

The driver kept his eyes straight ahead and only answered lazily after Jin Chuwan asked him several times.

"We're about to cross the bridge, how could we possibly stop? Just wait, we'll stop at the next stop."

Next stop...

The next stop is across the river!

Jin Chuwan lowered her head in despair, then slumped down in a seat. She had no interest in appreciating anything anymore. She rested her head on the seat in front of her and turned on her phone.

Let's play whack-a-mole first.

Five minutes later, the bus stopped, and Jin Chuwan stood on the unfamiliar street, completely bewildered.

How could you make a mistake with a car? You're incredibly stupid.

As darkness fell, Jin Chuwan quickly ran to the opposite platform and glanced at the timetable. It seemed there was only one last train left, departing every half hour.

Is she supposed to wait here for half an hour?

Jin Chuwan sat on the platform seat, feeling regretful. If she had known it would turn out like this, she would have preferred to take a taxi home from the beginning.

It's getting more and more complicated.

Jin Chuwan looked down, stepping on an empty cardboard box that someone had left on the ground. If she took a taxi back now, it would definitely cost her a fortune.

Let's just bear with it a little longer and treat it as coming out to enjoy the scenery.

Jin Chuwan observed the passing crowds with a sense of boredom. It was just a river dividing the city, yet the south and north banks seemed like two separate cities. Although both were bustling, the people on the south side seemed to be in a greater hurry. Scenes of friends chatting together were rarely seen on the streets of this side.

Kim Cho-wan changed her posture, cupping her face in her hands.

The road was bustling with pedestrians, and the sounds of passing cars blended together, creating a muffled and noisy atmosphere. Suddenly, Jin Chuwan seemed to hear a familiar voice.

"Auntie—"

She paused for a moment, then suddenly stood up.

Across the street, a boy in a school uniform was waving enthusiastically at her.

His companion looked utterly terrified.

"Li Xing'en?"

Jin Chuwan looked at the red light on the side of the road, then stood up and waved to the other side.

Generally speaking, the red light at large intersections lasts for 95 seconds, so if you're in a hurry, those 95 seconds can feel particularly agonizing.

Jin Chuwan saw Li Xing'en gesture a direction to her from the opposite side, and then she ran in that direction.

Kim Cho-wan initially thought Lee Sung-eun had something urgent to attend to, until she saw the overpass in the middle of the road and realized that Lee Sung-eun simply didn't want to wait for the red light.

When did this child become so impatient?

Kim Cho-wan simply continued to sit in front of the station and wait, while Lee Sung-eun's friends strolled over as the green light turned green.

They surrounded Kim Cho-wan, who was sitting in the station, with faces full of curiosity.

"Auntie?"

A girl with her hair in a bun bent down to look at her with a curious expression.

"So you're Li Xing'en's aunt?"

As the girl was speaking, she was suddenly pushed aside by the tall boy next to her. The boy looked somewhat excited, but he seemed very reserved when facing Jin Chuwan.

"Excuse me, if I may ask, how old are you this year, sister?"

This was also the first time Kim Cho-man had faced such a situation.

Actually, she wasn't officially called "aunt"; it was just that Lily had forced Li Xing'en to call her that. So she hesitated before answering.

17.

The people in front of him gaped in astonishment.

At this moment, Li Xingen finally arrived. The jacket that the boy was originally wearing was now draped over his arm, and his dark school uniform tie was hanging loosely at the collar.

"Get out of here."

Kim Cho-wan stared in shock at Lee Sung-eun, who was giving her a gloomy look as she chased him away.

His companions, however, seemed unfazed and even whistled with amusement.

"Alright, since our aunt has come to pick up Xing'en, let's head over now."

The tall young man, who had been holding one in each hand, bowed respectfully to Jin Chuwan before leaving.

Kim Cho-wan immediately stood up stiffly, ready to return the greeting, but was stopped by Lee Sung-eun.

"Ignore them."

Because of the intense exercise, the boy's face was flushed slightly. He naturally took Jin Chuwan's backpack and then led her by the hand toward the street corner.

The boy's strides were long, and Jin Chuwan struggled to keep up.

Looking at Li Xing'en's retreating figure, she asked in confusion, "Where are we going?"

By now, Li Xing'en seemed to have caught his breath. There were many pedestrians on the road, and every now and then someone would be shocked by the boy's charming appearance after an unintentional glance.

However, Lee Sung-eun himself seemed completely unconcerned. He finally stopped and turned to look at Kim Cho-wan.

"Isn't my aunt here to take care of me today?"

Jin Chuwan paused for a moment, realizing that there seemed to be such a thing.

"But, um, Xing En, isn't it too late today?"

But Li Xing'en didn't answer; she just led her forward.

In the crowded streets, the two walked one after the other. As the last rays of sunset faded, the city's neon lights came on.

As they walked, they passed a streetlamp, and its bright white light suddenly shone down, illuminating the previously dark road. Although this wasn't anything new, Jin Chuwan was still pleasantly surprised.

What a coincidence!

Jin Chuwan looked up at the streetlights, then tugged at Li Xing'en's hand.

"Xing En, are you hungry?"

Li Xingen looked down at Jin Chuwan. He knew very well that she hadn't come to see him specifically today. In fact, her so-called care was just because she wasn't good at refusing his coquettishness.

But so what?

"I want to eat my aunt's fried rice."

The boy under the streetlight smiled gently, and the beauty mark under his eye was captivating.

Kim Cho-wan saw a passerby unfortunately bump into a telephone pole because of being attacked by someone's beauty for no reason.

She couldn't help but lower her head and chuckle to herself.

Well, this is indeed the world of online novels. When Jin Chuwan looked up, she had already returned to her adult form.

Jin Chuwan looked up at her handsome nephew whom she had unexpectedly recognized eleven years ago.

"If you're making fried rice, do you have eggs at home?"

"It seems not."

"Then...where is the nearest supermarket?"
