Chapter 86

Chapter 86

When Jin Chuwan came out of the karaoke bar, it was already getting dark outside.

The clouds were thick, obscuring the evening glow and leaving only a few shades of crimson. It was rush hour, and the roads were bustling with cars. Vendors who liked to set up stalls at the night market were also gradually setting up their shops.

On her way home, Jin Chuwan casually bought some things for dinner.

There are six pieces in total.

As she was about to make the payment, Jin Chuwan heard a familiar voice behind her.

"I'll have one too."

She paused for a moment, then quickly turned around and saw Li Xing'en standing behind her with a smile.

Upon seeing such a handsome young man, the shopkeeper exclaimed "Oh!" and then asked, "What kind do you want?"

"Just like her."

After Li Xing'en finished speaking, she looked at Jin Chuwan. Their eyes met again, and a faint, somber atmosphere lingered between them.

Jin Chuwan looked down at her toes, trying to pretend that Li Xingen didn't exist, but he moved closer and closer.

"I think I forgot to bring cash. Auntie, could you pay for me?"

The boy's voice lingered in her ears, and she always felt as if his lips were touching the tip of her ear.

"Fine, I'll pay..."

Jin Chuwan turned around and glanced at the person, then pushed them away slightly.

But why are we getting so close...?

Li Xing'en, who had been pushed away, smiled and lowered his head. This time, he sensibly stepped back a little.

The shop owner glanced at the two, assuming they were a couple arguing, and decided to watch the commotion while making his snacks.

--

A short while later, the two of them sat on a public bench with their lunchboxes in their hands.

The sky had completely darkened, and the neon lights flashed twice, illuminating the entire city. The previously crowded throngs gradually receded, replaced by men and women looking for food, or families of three taking a stroll.

Jin Chuwan leaned back in her chair. Li Xing'en noticed that she was a little tired, so she put down the lunchbox and then moved her fingers.

"Would you like me to give you a shoulder massage? You know how good I am..."

The air was cool tonight. Jin Chuwan tidied her wind-blown hair and turned to look at Li Xing'en. Their location was already quite secluded, but people still secretly stopped to watch him.

However, the person involved seems oblivious, or perhaps has become accustomed to these admiring glances.

“Xing En…”

Perhaps because the atmosphere was quite pleasant, Kim Cho-wan subconsciously wanted to talk to him about going abroad.

But the words caught in his throat.

After all, we haven't even seen the birth chart yet, so it would be quite embarrassing to reveal it beforehand if things don't go well.

So she thought about it and decided to change the subject.

"Have you ever thought about simply liking someone else?"

Lee Sung-eun, whose fingers had been moving, paused upon hearing this. He looked intently at Kim Cho-wan, and only after confirming that she had just asked casually did he reply with a smile.

"Auntie..."

"If you really want me to behave, then stop asking me questions like that..."

The boy's voice drifted over on the wind, carrying a slight chill. Jin Chuwan paused for a moment, then remained silent. Li Xing'en helped her up and turned her to sit facing a different direction.

The boy's fingers pinched her back, with just the right amount of pressure. His technique was very professional, as if he had specifically learned it.

"You know, I don't only have the option of obeying. I just want to make you happy, I just want you to like me a little more, so I'm willing to do whatever you want to me..."

His voice was still gentle, but Jin Chuwan couldn't help but feel her heart race.

"But being obedient doesn't mean you should push me away..."

As the boy's voice faded, his kiss landed on her shoulder. Jin Chuwan felt his arms tighten around her little by little, but she dared not react at that moment.

Suddenly.

She seemed to suddenly understand what Jin Chaoyang always meant.

But I don't quite understand it.

The warmth that had been resting on her shoulder gradually moved to her neck, and she felt his teeth gently brushing against her skin.

Kim Cho-wan couldn't help but turn her head away.

"Enough... Li Xing'en, we're outside!"

She couldn't help but try to stop him, but instead heard a low, hoarse laugh from the other person.

"You're the one who hurt me, Auntie. If you say things like that again, I'll kiss you somewhere else..."

Lee Sung-eun's tone sounded like she was being coquettish, but Kim Cho-wan felt a bit pressured.

She looked at Li Xing'en with a flustered expression, her eyes darting around slightly.

She suddenly felt that she didn't know him well enough.

"Xing En... please listen to me, let me go first, I'm a little tired, I want to go home and rest..."

Jin Chuwan's words were stiff, but the boy's laughter still lingered in her ears.

"Okay, I'll take you home."

His usual driver lived nearby, and Li Xing'en could get a ride with just one phone call.

Jin Chuwan sat with him in the back seat. Li Xingen rested her head on her lap and kept saying that she had a headache and asked Jin Chuwan to massage it for her. Jin Chuwan was not very good at it, so she massaged it a few times and then started rubbing his fluffy hair.

The scenery outside the car window flashed by quickly. Jin Chuwan looked down at Li Xingen, whose eyes were closed and whose fine eyelashes drooped, making him look like he was asleep.

But he never let go of her hand.

Neither of them spoke the rest of the way.

After arriving home, Jin Chuwan got out of the car first. Li Xing'en, who was sitting in the car, seemed to be really sleepy. He was pressing his brow with his hand. The young man had a refined and noble appearance, and even such a casual movement had an air of elegance.

Kim Cho-wan suddenly smiled.

"I can go in by myself. If you're tired, go back and rest early."

Li Xingen's gaze was somewhat unfocused. Before he could respond, the car door had already been closed. He watched Jin Chuwan walk away, his gaze gradually becoming deep and unfathomable.

He was always observant, so he naturally guessed Jin Chuwan's restrained emotions.

Because of his overstepping of boundaries, or rather, his threat?

Perhaps both.

Thinking about it, Li Xing'en smiled.

Let's go.

After the boy's voice faded, the black sedan started up again.

He was no longer sleepy, but leaning against the soft leather seat, he recalled the look in Jin Chuwan's eyes when she left. There was nothing particularly special about it, but it felt a little unfamiliar to him.

He didn't quite like it.

However, this wasn't the only thing he disliked.

Thinking about it, Li Xing'en shifted to an even more languid posture and leaned against the car window. Most of the time, he felt he could endure and wait, but occasionally, he couldn't control himself.

It seems that the longer they spend time together, the more obvious her indifference becomes.

That fleeting tenderness brought him both joy and disappointment, back and forth, over and over again.

It was like torture.

The boy's soft laughter sounded abrupt in the quiet carriage. The driver couldn't help but raise an eyebrow. The light inside the car was dim, and he couldn't see the young master's expression clearly in the rearview mirror. He just felt that there was something strange about his laughter.

The man lightly turned the steering wheel, casually stroking the stubble on his chin.

No wonder the girl refused; rich young men are really hard to understand.

--

Jin Chuwan didn't rest after returning home; instead, she sat at her desk and spaced out for a while.

She casually tossed her backpack onto the sofa, and her keys hung precariously on the hook by the door.

The table was covered with books and notebooks. Coming to her senses, Jin Chuwan pushed them all aside and then pulled out an unused notebook from the drawer and opened it up.

The pen tip landed on the blank paper, quickly smudging into a black dot. Jin Chuwan, realizing what was happening, quickly raised her hand.

She propped her head up with her hand, recalling the moments she had spent with Lily while reviewing the plots of the two novels.

As a marginal figure, she always felt that as long as she behaved herself, studied hard, and did her job well, she would have a good life in the future.

But Li Xingen's words suddenly frightened her a little.

She was so much smaller than them.

If one day Li Xing'en or Jiang Chen suddenly feels that their patience has been exhausted, and if they decide to use some forceful methods, she may really have no way to deal with it.

Sitting in the chair, I couldn't help but bite the tip of my pen.

The blank sheet of paper was now filled with densely packed names and events, but the more Jin Chuwan sorted through it, the more confused she felt.

To be honest, the more rationally she looked at it, the more she felt that everything was on the right track.

Lily and the CEO have already settled down, and Cheng Ya seems to have found her happiness as well. Although the final male lead isn't Jiang Chen, in other side stories of this novel, Cheng Ya ends up with Ming Jing. So there's nothing wrong with that.

The problem lies with her?

It's still Jiang Chen and Li Xing'en...

Is the current development a different storyline in the novel?

Jin Chuwan couldn't help but scratch her head.

She sat at her desk, lost in thought, until a text message from Ran Xian disturbed her.

Although he asked the question rather tactfully, Jin Chuwan still sensed a hint of urgency. She looked at her phone for a while, replied that she hadn't asked yet, and then closed the phone and tossed it onto the bedside table.

Ran Xian's urging made her feel a little confused, yet also a little expectant.

Jin Chu stayed up until 1 a.m. that night before finally falling asleep.

The moment the lights were turned off, everything went completely dark. Only after her vision slowly adjusted could Jin Chuwan gradually discern the outlines in the darkness.

She lay quietly in bed, suddenly overwhelmed by a sense of unreality. Although she mostly treated this place as the real world, there were times, especially when she repeatedly recalled the past, when she couldn't help but wonder if this place was just a virtual dream.

She suddenly felt that Jiang Chen and Li Xing'en's affection was somewhat like a romantic movie or TV series.

But now the lead role isn't played by anyone else, it's played by herself.

An even more serious problem is that she doesn't seem to have much control over how the future plot will develop.

This is so difficult...

Jin Chuwan turned over in bed.

She didn't know when she fell asleep, only that when she woke up she found her bedroom door being pounded on loudly.

Jin Chuwan groggily got out of bed, pushed open the door, and saw Jin Chaoyang, clutching her handbag and looking like a wealthy lady, stepping into her house in high heels.

? ? ?

Jin Chuwan subconsciously rubbed her eyes.

Jin Chaoyang looked at her blank expression and showed off his manicure, which he had just done yesterday. "How is it? I changed my style. Do I look pretty, sister?"

Her response was Kim Cho-wan's yawn.

She glanced at her wrist, then said helplessly, "It's only a little past six, please have mercy on me..."

As Jin Chuwan spoke, she walked into the bedroom.

She went to bed very late last night and doesn't want to get up yet.

But before she could reach the bedside, Jin Chaoyang grabbed her by the collar.

“I left my handsome fiancé behind and flew back from the resort island overnight for you, so don’t just think about sleeping with me…” Jin Chaoyang said, then pulled Jin Chuwan to sit on the sofa.

"It's still about yesterday's matter. It can't be explained in a few words over the phone. Although I support you in running away, is the Ran Xian you mentioned yesterday the young master of the Ran family in the book?"

Jin Chuwan was still half asleep and her thoughts were a little sluggish, but she quickly came to her senses and nodded, but then shook her head again.

"Ran Xian... he's my friend..."

As the author, Jin Chaoyang certainly knew about the Ran family. She also knew that the Ran family, like Jin Chuwan, were villains in the book.

Jin Chaoyang sighed and looked down. When she looked up again, she had the air of a strong woman. She crossed her arms and looked a bit like the picky in-laws in those TV dramas about wealthy families.

"Arrange for him to come out; I want to meet him."

Jin Chuwan gave a brief "ah," her sleepy eyes filled with confusion and bewilderment, but upon seeing the other person's serious expression, she still replied softly.

"It's possible, but isn't this a bit too early?"

She meant that she wanted to sleep a little longer, but Jin Chaoyang didn't take it seriously.

"Are you kidding me? My sister is going to leave with him, and I don't even know what he looks like! Anyway, make an appointment, I need to see her today..."
