Chapter 11 Ancient Magic Language

"There's no need for thanks between friends; you're a good human being."

"If you need any help in the future, just let us know. You have a very pleasant aura about you, and we like you."

"Yes, yes, we can protect you!"

The elemental spirits circled around Maggie, dancing happily, forgetting how ferocious Maggie's face had been when she scared them.

"Is it really possible?"

Maggie's eyes flashed with surprise. The elemental spirits were so innocent. Perhaps the Elemental King was right. They were indeed not suited to associate with cunning humans.

"Of course, my friend, you are special. You can connect with all the elemental spirits around you, and even unclaimed spirits will respond to you."

The elemental spirit stopped in front of Maggie and said seriously.

"Unowned elves?"

Maggie was saddened by her ignorance. She had thought that after reading the comics many times, she should know everything about this world, but she was completely unaware of what the elemental spirits were saying.

"This is it!"

As the elemental spirit finished speaking, many glowing fluorescent orbs reappeared in the surrounding air, drifting aimlessly.

"Our predecessors were unclaimed elves. Only a small number of unclaimed elves can become elemental elves with intelligence like us."

As the elemental spirit explained, it controlled the fluorescent ball to float in front of Maggie.

Maggie looked at the scene before her, her mind went blank for a moment, and she felt as if she had entered a world full of fireflies.

"Unowned elves are the lowest-ranking mages in human terms. They cannot communicate or interact, but they can provide a small amount of magic to assist in casting spells."

Maggie seemed to understand, but not quite, and reached out to poke the ball of light in front of her.

“My friend, you can communicate with many unclaimed spirits at the same time, and in theory they will all be at your service. You are different from other believers of gods; your magic is inexhaustible.”

Quantitative change leads to qualitative change. Only one unowned elf can provide a small amount of magic, but what if there are many?

Maggie probably knows why her magic suddenly recovered so quickly during the pilgrimage of the saints!

This also means that the truth about her extremely low magical talent will not be discovered in the short term.

As for learning magic and the speed of breakthroughs...

Maggie had recently attempted to break through to become a formal magician, but as it turned out, without any talent, this step was incredibly difficult, like crossing an insurmountable chasm.

Not knowing the language of magic makes learning magic even more difficult for her; these are all problems she needs to overcome.

But she wasn't completely without solutions.

If she really has no other choice, she can always make a deal with the devil. As long as she offers a tempting enough offer, the greedy devil will quickly take the bait.

Communicating with demons through the Key of Hell on the continent of Coral is strictly forbidden. No one can gain any benefit from demons; in the end, they will all lose their souls.

However, this world is never short of desperate people, and there are quite a few who voluntarily make pacts with the devil, which is a persistent problem.

"So you're actually always around humans, and you've never left, is that right?"

Maggie thought for a moment and then asked.

She couldn't help but find it amusing that priceless magicians were actually everywhere.

"That's not the case. Only stray elves drift aimlessly. We don't usually gather together. We were just attracted here today by your special magical fluctuations."

"Yes, yes, my friend, the energy you exude is very special and alluring, enticing us to come closer to you."

Maggie was embarrassed. What kind of adjective is 'tempting'?

She's not a waffle cookie, which sounds really strange.

"It's a pity that all the level 3 elves are aloof and unwilling to come with us, otherwise it could have made human friends. We'll make them regret it next time we meet!"

The other one proudly raised its little head, then looked down at Maggie for a moment and said.

"If you become a formal mage, they might become interested in you. However, your magical talent is simply too poor. Even with our help, a breakthrough is still a long way off."

The elemental spirit's face showed obvious regret.

"It's so rare for humans to be able to see us, but their talent is so poor. Sigh, logically speaking, people with such low talent levels shouldn't be able to see us either."

The other one nodded in agreement.

"..."

As Maggie listened to their discussion, a wave of sadness washed over her. They were telling her to her face that she lacked talent; they really didn't treat her like an outsider.

Suddenly, Maggie had a flash of inspiration: perhaps these elemental spirits could be of great help in learning magical languages.

She immediately asked in a hurried tone.

"Can you teach me the language of magic?"

Maggie felt like a sponge, frantically using every resource around her to survive.

As soon as she finished speaking, the air fell silent for a moment. The elemental spirits then uttered syllables of unknown meaning and looked at Maggie with strange eyes.

"Huh?"

"ah?"

Maggie tensed up instantly. Had she touched a taboo? Why were they all staring at her like that?

"Is it not allowed?"

She asked cautiously.

"It's possible, but the ancient magical language is vastly different from the magical language humans use today, and we only know the ancient magical language. Are you sure you want to learn it?"

The elemental spirits seemed quite distressed.

"It's okay, I can tell the difference myself."

Maggie was overjoyed. What she needed now was a teacher who could teach her the language of magic. She definitely couldn't ask the archbishop for this, otherwise it would most likely arouse his suspicion.

If she was raised from childhood as a candidate for the Holy Maiden of Light, why wouldn't she be taught the language of magic? This is highly suspicious.

It must not be revealed to anyone.

But things are different now. As the Holy Maiden of Light, she has free access to the library and can use the pretext of learning magic to compare the differences between ancient and modern magical languages, since there are bound to be commonalities.

"Hmm... Alright, elemental spirits won't refuse a good friend's request."

The little ones exchanged glances, all seeing the confusion in each other's eyes. The ancient magical language was very different from the modern one; their human friend seemed to be oversimplifying things.

However, they found it hard to resist such beautiful humans, who looked at them with pleading, sparkling eyes.

Besides, they are their friends.

"Very good."

Maggie breathed a huge sigh of relief.

"We can only teach you simple magical characters and language. The difficult ones are only mastered by high elves. If you want to learn, you'll have to find a way to meet them."

The elemental spirit kindly offered this reminder.

"It's okay, that's enough."

Maggie didn't think she had a strong learning ability. If she did, she wouldn't have had to memorize a hymn for three nights in a row before she could barely manage to cast the spell on the day of the pilgrimage.

Besides...

She never said she would give up becoming a real magician.
