Chapter 619 A Desperate Struggle

The misty space was quiet, and Bai Xi quietly kept El company, but the sound of blood dripping in her ears kept disturbing her thoughts.

Although she really wanted to be selfish and ignore what others had done for her, in the end...

Her gaze swept over the screen next to her, which was identical to the live stream, as if urging her on.

Time is running out. Soon the gods will break through the Temple of Angels. If the temple is destroyed and the statues are broken, then she will have no room to negotiate with the world's consciousness.

Bai Xi sighed softly, her expression shifting from helplessness back to indifference, and spoke into the depths of the mist.

"I can....."

As soon as she opened her mouth, she felt something fall on her head. Bai Xi reached out to pick it up and saw a pure white feather.

Bai Xi was taken aback and turned to look at El, only to see that he actually gave her a slightly forced smile, and there was an unconcealable sadness in it.

"Since you've already made your decision, then...why don't you stay with me a little longer, talk to me a little longer? Maybe you won't have the chance again."

He said.

Bai Xi looked puzzled, unsure of what he was up to, but nodded nonetheless.

Al has done so much for her, there's nothing she can't ask for.

Anyway...

Her gaze swept over the scene revealed in the mist once more; the angels' resistance remained as steadfast as ever, and it seemed it would take some more time.

"Do you know that you're the one who awakened my emotions?"

His fingertips trembled slightly, as if he wanted to touch Bai Xi, but he was chained and could do nothing but let his wrists hang down helplessly.

The sound of blood droplets hitting the ground grew clearer, and coupled with El's seemingly relieved voice, Bai Xi actually felt an indescribable sadness.

"Maybe...."

Bai Xi wasn't sure either. In her memory, El was still that aloof archangel, and she wasn't very familiar with the living, breathing El in front of her who had emotions.

“I could sense that you hated me before, but I didn’t care then. Now I even regret it a little.”

As he spoke, another trickle of blood spilled from the corner of his mouth, making Bai Xi's heart tighten again. She felt that El was about to die at any moment, and without realizing it, she focused all her attention on El.

"No, no, no, you didn't do it on purpose back then. I know you were just following the rules."

Bai Xi certainly knew what El was talking about. She did have a lot of resentment back then, but that little bit of unpleasantness had long since dissipated with El's sacrifices for her.

"I should have more memories of you, but I can't remember them right now. If you become a god in the future, will you help me remember them?"

El twitched the corner of his mouth and said in a tone that seemed to be joking.

His memories haven't fully returned; only the lingering love and memories have sustained him to this point. By sheer chance, he discovered the true purpose of the world consciousness. If it were anyone else, he might not care, but the target is Bai Xi.

Bai Xi also instantly recalled that part of the memory from the altar; she... had even kissed El.

Thinking of that scene, Bai Xi's expression became somewhat unnatural. She didn't really want El to remember, but if he insisted...

"I'll figure something out..."

Bai Xi didn't really want to answer, but seeing how miserable El was, she still muttered something under her breath as a response.

"That's really... great."

The smile on El's lips seemed even gentler than before, even carrying a hint of relief and reassurance.

Bai Xi had a sudden feeling that something was wrong. When she turned around, she saw the Temple of Angels in ruins. The statues were shattered by the power of the gods, and a suppressed, hidden energy surged out.

Her gaze, however, was not fixed on the broken angel statue, but on another corner of the temple hall.

El's broken wings and chest pierced by a sharp weapon.

His body, as a puppet, was manipulated by the world's consciousness to resist the gods' attack. Now that the Temple of Angels had been successfully invaded, he was bound to meet a bad end.

"you!?!"

Bai Xi's pupils shrank to pinpoints as she looked at El, only to find that his soul form had suffered the same damage as in reality. His wings had completely detached from his body, his back was exposed with a huge, ripped wound, his halo had shattered and fallen to the ground, and he was covered in blood in a sorry state. There was also a large hole in his heart that had been torn open by a sharp weapon.

The chains disappeared from his body for some unknown reason, and his exhausted body fell down, crashing heavily to the ground.

Suddenly, she felt an indescribable, intense pain surge rapidly and violently in her heart. It wasn't physical pain, but rather an unbearable mental breakdown caused by a massive trauma.

It felt like a hand was gripping my heart, a pain that made it hard to breathe.

The emotions that had been suppressed and swallowed up by external forces surged into her limbs and bones, so powerful that Bai Xi's tears instantly welled up in her eyes, and before she knew it, her face was covered in tears.

"No, that's not how it is, I don't want it to be like this..."

She stared blankly at the scene, her mind filled with completely unfamiliar emotions.

She staggered forward and struggled to lift El's body, but El grabbed her wrist with very light force.

El now looked like an ordinary human, having lost his wings and halo, leaning against her arms. The wounds on his body were shocking, making Bai Xi not know where to look, and tears kept falling down her face.

She used to dislike crying and rarely cried, but today, for some reason, the tears just wouldn't stop.

Don't be sad.

El's voice was very weak.

Bai Xi choked up and couldn't speak. She could only watch as El struggled to raise his hand, trying to wipe away the tears on her face. But he seemed to be hindered by the blood on his hand and let it fall back down before he could even touch it.

He didn't want to get Bai Xi dirty.

Even though his blood had already stained Bai Xi's skirt red.

“I’ve gotten rid of it, and you no longer have to be restricted by it. This is the best result I could get for you.”

He watched Bai Xi cry incessantly, seemingly helpless, and spoke with a tone of comfort, but his demeanor was hardly convincing.

Bai Xi stared at him blankly, tears streaming down her face, but her reason seemed to have been split in two, and even her soul had taken on a different perspective.

On one hand, there is a surging emotional backlash and collapse; on the other hand, there is a calm mixed with overwhelming rage.

This was not her plan, nor was it the ending she wanted.

Despite her relentless struggle, Bai Xi's reason ultimately prevailed.

She watched as El closed her eyes briefly, then opened them again, her eyes filled with a coldness that was the complete opposite of the tears streaming down her face.
