Side Story: Forgotten and Reunited
Within the elemental source realm.
Roy sat on a giant flower petal, staring blankly ahead, completely lost in thought, until a figure appeared beside him and patted him on the shoulder.
“You haven’t left the Origin Realm in a long time; it’s time to go out and explore.”
Gar's tone was tinged with helplessness. He didn't know what was wrong with Roy. Ever since Tartarus was dealt with, Roy seemed to have lost his soul and had never left the Elemental Source Realm. He wouldn't say anything no matter what he was asked, which was making him very worried.
"..."
Luo Yi pursed her lips and remained silent, her head lowered as if lost in thought, but the sorrow lingering between her brows could not be dispelled.
"The destruction of the Abyss is clearly a good thing, so why aren't you happy...?"
Garth facepalmed; he was genuinely worried about Roy.
To his surprise, as soon as he finished speaking, Roy turned to look at him and suddenly asked him a question.
"Do you remember how Tartarus was destroyed?"
His question startled Garr, but he quickly frowned.
"Didn't the gods seek the help of the King of Elements, borrow our power, and join forces with the Demon King of Hell to destroy it? You yourself participated, how could you not remember? It's only been a mere hundred years."
After he finished speaking, Roy numbly turned his head away and stopped talking.
This drove Garr to the brink of despair, so he simply sat down next to him, ready to put up with it.
After waiting for a long time, he heard Roy speak slowly.
"Actually... there's always been a very vague figure in my mind. I always felt that she was the one who truly defeated Tartarus..."
Roy's words made Garr frown deeply; this was the first time Roy had said this to him.
Before he could answer, Roy continued talking to himself.
"But I searched through all the clues, all the information, history, and traces, and I still couldn't find that person."
He fell silent again after speaking.
“I sometimes wonder if I have delusions, but... it’s like she really existed, and I always feel like things shouldn’t be this way.”
As Gar listened, he turned to look and found that Roy was already in tears, but his eyes were still blank, as if a piece of his soul had been hollowed out.
"you...."
Faced with this situation, Garr didn't know how to comfort people. How could he find someone who didn't exist...? He couldn't think of anything to do with it.
However... for some reason, after Roy finished speaking, he also had a vague feeling that there really was such a person, but when he thought about it carefully, he couldn't find anything. It was really strange.
"Maybe I'm just too tired."
Roy lowered his head and gave a self-deprecating twitch at the corner of his mouth.
This action instantly hardened Gar's eyes. Regardless of whether the person Roy was talking about actually existed, he had to treat him as such in order to get Roy out.
"No, you're right. I have the same feeling. It seems like there really should be such a person. How about we go out and look for them?"
Garr's serious tone made Roy pause for a moment, then he turned around and a look of surprise flashed in his eyes.
"good!"
Roy nodded vigorously.
If there is still someone in this world who can accompany him to find that person who only exists in his imagination, then it seems that there is hope again.
...
On the other side, within the realm of God.
Is it really necessary to expend so much effort to find someone who is completely unreliable?
Nofel looked at Greshius as he walked in and said in a calm tone.
"Aren't you looking for it too?"
Gretius countered with a question.
Nofel calmly looked away, but did not refute.
"I'm pretty sure she's a real person, but we've all been fooled."
Greysius’s voice echoed within the domain, as cold as his divinity.
"..."
Nofel paused for a moment before speaking.
"They're looking too."
The hidden meaning behind this statement is that such a suspicious woman, who has left a mark on the minds of all the gods, could not possibly not exist; of course, he would look for her.
Greysius frowned slightly.
"I will be the first to find her."
As soon as he finished speaking, he turned and disappeared into the divine realm of the God of Light.
Nofel remained where he was, squinting his eyes and muttering to himself.
"Where will you be...?"
The world has deceived them, going to great lengths to make someone disappear completely. What is their purpose?
Her image in my mind is blurry. Even if she really exists, would I recognize her if we met again?
Nofel reached up and touched his chest. Ever since Tartarus was destroyed, his heart felt empty, as if something had been forcibly ripped from his soul.
He wanted to fill that void.
As long as we find that person.
...
Bai Xi floated in the void, staring blankly at the darkness above.
In fact, she couldn't quite define her own state. She seemed like an unknown mass of matter, or perhaps just a spiritual entity, but she was neither a ghost nor a soul. She couldn't explain what she was at all.
All she knew was that she could still think, as if she wasn't quite dead yet.
"This shouldn't be happening... What on earth is going on?"
Bai Xi turned over, and through the light she could see the outside world. She was certain that her traces had been completely erased, and no one remembered her. So what was her current situation? Was she alive or dead, or was she locked up?
She was completely bewildered.
She's been locked up here for so long, she's practically growing moss. Either let her die or let her out, what kind of situation is this?
Bai Xi sighed. No matter what, there was nothing she could do. She might be imprisoned indefinitely. All she could do was wait.
Suddenly, a voice broke out from the quiet void, startling Bai Xi so much that she quickly sat up.
"Do you want to go back or stay here?"
Its voice sounded very similar to that of the tumor disguised as the world's consciousness, which immediately made Bai Xi's expression turn serious, and a murderous intent flashed in her eyes. Even though she had been trapped in the void for so long, her humanity had not been affected in the slightest. She was who she was, and there would be no change.
"Who are you?!"
She asked.
The voice was quiet for a moment before it explained to her.
"I am the true world consciousness of this world."
Bai Xi was taken aback, the murderous intent on her face faded, and she felt a little complicated.
"What...what did you mean by what you just asked me?"
She felt something was off.
“Logically, you should be completely dead by now, and all traces of you should have been erased by the power of time and space causality. But you are now existing in a very peculiar form, and I have no way to eliminate you.”
The voice of global consciousness resounded once more.
"Since you helped save the world, I can help you get out of here, but you can only exist in your current form. You can choose to return to your original world or stay here. I will only be responsible for releasing you. You can also choose not to leave."
Its words startled Bai Xi, who lowered her head and remained silent for a long time.
Actually, there's nothing to miss about the modern world. Besides, in her current state, if she went back to the modern world, she would probably be treated as a ghost. So it seems... it's better to stay here.
But if she stayed here, everyone would have forgotten about her.
So... am I destined to be alone?
The thought flashed through Bai Xi's mind, but she quickly dismissed it. After all, she was used to living alone, and this was fine.
Having figured this out, Bai Xi raised her head and curled the corners of her lips into a smile.
"I want to stay."
As soon as she finished speaking, Bai Xi felt a dizzying sensation. When she opened her eyes again, she was standing on the land of the Coral Continent, with the world consciousness's instructions still lingering in her mind.
"No one remembers you now, and the power you once possessed has crumbled. You cannot disappear, you cannot die, and you can only wander this world in your current form. If one day you want to die, there is nothing I can do."
Bai Xi didn't care about that. She just touched her chin, checked her condition, and looked around. Passersby were coming and going, and some of their eyes fell on her, seemingly wondering about her sudden appearance.
Two hours later, Bai Xi found out what was going on with her.
"So now I'm essentially an immortal, ordinary human...is that right...?"
She should be considered to have a physical form, because she can be seen by others and can taste food, but she doesn't feel hungry or thirsty, can't use magic, and her state doesn't change. She seems to be frozen in time, only staying in a certain second.
By the way, she is currently in a small town on the border of the Saint-Nar Kingdom, which is the family of Maggie, and is quite close to the Temple of Light.
However, Bai Xi will no longer go to the Temple of Light, since no one there recognizes her.
Given that she would live for a very, very long time, Bai Xi decided to find something interesting to do, otherwise she would get bored to death sooner or later.
And so it was happily decided.
