Chapter 251 seems......maybe we could give it a try?

Perkin's thin lips pressed into a straight line as he stared intently at Maggie.

Unfortunately, a drunk person doesn't pay much attention to their surroundings. She just stared straight ahead at the distant castle, where most of the view was of the city walls of the border town, and only a small part of the distant scenery could be seen.

Whether it was Maggie's imagination or not, the hazy, indistinct shadow that enveloped the entire border seemed to have faded a bit, but in the distance, there seemed to be a vortex gathering energy.

A power very similar to the core of ash.

Although Maggie's mind was a bit foggy and she couldn't think straight, she still tried her best to remember the scene. Her intuition told her that this abnormal phenomenon might be useful in the future.

Or perhaps it's related to the birth of monsters.

She had confirmed when she arrived that only she could see these illusory energy fields; no one else could detect them.

"Master, has anyone ever told you that you are very wary?"

Perkin suddenly interrupted Maggie's thoughts. She turned her head with a blank expression, and after a while, she seemed to understand what Perkin was saying. After a slight pause, she smiled.

"It seems like nobody has said that."

Maggie doesn't remember anyone saying that to her.

"Isn't this better?"

She asked in a nonchalant tone.

"There's nothing wrong with it."

Perkin was silent for a moment. He looked at Maggie but said nothing in the end. Having followed Maggie from the very beginning, Perkin knew Maggie's situation better than anyone, even though Maggie wouldn't tell him most of the things.

But anyone with eyes could see how dangerous Maggie was.

Since he is powerless to change this situation, anything he says would only sound like sarcastic remarks.

So it's fine to keep it this way.

"I'm telling you, I haven't treated you badly before, so why do you always have such a cold face?"

The conversation ended there, and no one continued. Maggie, however, stared at Perkin's face for a few seconds, then suddenly frowned, showing some displeasure.

Perkin's pupils reflected Maggie's current appearance: her cheeks were slightly flushed, her expression was more vivid than usual, and she even had a hint of irrationality, finally looking somewhat like a teenage girl.

"I don't."

He looked thoughtful, then spoke with a serious expression.

I don't believe it.

Maggie pursed her lips, and an image of a more mature, long-haired Perkin inexplicably appeared in her mind. Whether it was in her mind or in front of her, he looked like a cool guy.

In modern times, she would avoid people like that and would complain to her friends behind their backs, "Look at that person, he's just pretending."

Just as Maggie was lost in her thoughts, Perkin suddenly took two steps forward, reached out and gently hooked Maggie's fingertips, then bent down slightly so that their eyes met.

The air seemed to freeze at that moment. Perkin's handsome face loomed infinitely large before her eyes. Maggie couldn't utter the words she was about to say. Her mind seemed to stop thinking, and she just stared blankly at Perkin's emerald green snake eyes.

Perhaps because she was more relaxed, or perhaps because there wasn't much light at night, Perkin's snake eyes appeared somewhat cute oval, her face reflected in the dark pupils.

"Did you see that? I'm smiling."

As he spoke, he even tried to take Maggie's hand and touch the corner of her mouth, clearly trying very hard to prove that he was really smiling.

Maggie's gaze shifted slightly downwards, and she caught a glimpse of Perkin's slightly upturned lips; he seemed to be in a good mood.

But if you don't look closely, you really can't tell that he's smiling.

A wave of dry humor washes over you.

"..."

For some reason, it was Maggie's turn to laugh, and she was also a little speechless.

[Huh? You suddenly looked me in the eye at close range, actually trying to prove to me that you were smiling? Huh?]

"Hmm... then I guess I misunderstood you?"

Maggie carefully chose her words, suppressing the urge to facepalm.

I don't think I need to apologize, right? It's not my fault that you don't have enough facial expressions.

At such close range, Perkin keenly detected the scent of alcohol mixed with cool fragrance emanating from Maggie, and the night breeze blowing across the terrace brought a slight buzz.

Perkin's lips curved into a smile again, his sexy, deep voice sending shivers down your spine and making your ears itch.

"No, it's my fault that the master didn't notice my emotions."

As she spoke, Maggie's gaze lingered on his lips, where she caught a glimpse of his tongue, which was indeed forked... and had very sharp, venomous fangs.

It really does branch out... It's so amazing to see it with my own eyes....

Maggie's thoughts drifted further and further away, becoming completely unrelated. Many of the fanfiction she had read had settings designed for eroticism, and now, after drinking, these thoughts were like bubbles in boiling water, one after another.

Come to think of it, it seems like he hasn't used his venomous fangs to bite anyone in a long time. The only time he used poison was at the slave auction when we first met, to save his life.

[Huh? Come to think of it, it's a shame his poison can only be used to kill. If only it could incite lust... hehehe.]

Having drunk alcohol, Maggie's mind was sluggish. She stared blankly at his lips for a long time, and even after Perkin finished speaking, she didn't look away until Perkin, for some reason, suddenly jumped away as if he had been burned.

Maggie looked up, bewildered, only to see the back of Perkin's head.

"?"

What's wrong with this person?

Maggie had some doubts.

Unbeknownst to anyone, the area beneath her paisley black hair was already a deep red, her usually pale face flushed, and several snake scales had appeared on her neck.

"What’s wrong with you?"

Seeing that he was unwilling to turn around for a long time, Maggie took two steps forward to walk around to him and see what had happened. However, the man seemed to be playing hide-and-seek with her and refused to let her see his face.

Perhaps due to the effects of the alcohol, Maggie was reluctant to give up for a moment, and the two of them childishly started spinning around on the terrace.

Finally, Perkin couldn't take it anymore and simply turned into a shadow and disappeared from the spot. Maggie then curled her lip in boredom and said to the fleeing shadow.

You're up to something!

The shadow ignored her, so Maggie had no choice but to give up.

Although she didn't know why, a voice inside Maggie was subtly urging her, telling her that Perkin's reaction must be hiding some secret.

Little did she know that her shadow, after leaving, transformed into a human shape not far away, staring blankly in the direction of her terrace.

After a long while, he lowered his head, gently touched his fangs with his fingertips, and revealed a thoughtful expression.

In fact, his toxins could indeed be adjusted, but he had never considered the possibility of 'aphrodisiac toxins' before.

"Master...does she like this? It seems...we could try it?"

Perkin's mutterings faded into the wind, and his figure vanished with them.
