Chapter 316 The Angel Statue Without Facial Features

Maggie was pondering something when her mind suddenly paused for a moment, and her gaze returned to the angel statue.

I didn't notice anything amiss when my gaze briefly swept over the angel statue.

After watching it again, I finally noticed what was strange.

This enormous angel statue has no face.

The entire face was blank, without features or expression; it was just a smooth, flat surface.

"???"

A chilling feeling instantly filled Maggie's body; in this bright temple, her entire back was soaked through.

While it's not entirely unreasonable to say that a statue lacks facial features, given its high status and the fact that it's a temple guarded by angels, how could a statue of an angel without sculpted facial features possibly stand there?

This is so strange.

Maggie felt a chill run down her spine and even had an urge to run away.

But considering that she wouldn't die or get hurt, she forced herself to endure the discomfort and walked towards El.

She wanted to ask Al for confirmation about something.

As an angel, El was particularly sensitive to changes in the emotions of living beings, and he also noticed that Maggie was feeling fear for no apparent reason.

He turned to Maggie, about to say something, but Maggie grabbed his arm.

Maggie kept her head down, not wanting to see the strange angel statue, and thus did not see that the moment she touched El, a strange emotional fluctuation actually arose in his calm, indifferent, inorganic seven-colored eyes.

It's as if a suppressed soul has regained its emotions.

It's as if a soul has been injected into an empty shell.

Maggie swallowed hard. She had a bad feeling that something terrible would happen after she asked the question.

But she still wanted to give it a try; just trying it shouldn't be a problem.

She thought about it uncertainly, and hesitated a little when she first spoke, but quickly became firm and strong.

"Do the statues in your eyes... have faces?"

The moment Maggie asked that question, the previously stable space shattered and collapsed rapidly.

It's like shattered glass, falling layer by layer to the ground, breaking into even smaller pieces.

El and Maggie's pupils dilated in shock at the same time, and space began to collapse at an accelerated rate. Maggie instinctively grabbed El's arm tightly, afraid that she would fall.

But she still failed to stay, and instead disappeared before El's eyes as space shattered.

After Maggie disappeared, everything around her immediately returned to normal.

It was as if everything that had just happened was an illusion.

El stood there, his eyes filled with a sense of bewilderment, the warmth of the human girl's touch still lingering on his arm.

The human girl inexplicably disappeared before his eyes.

It seemed like she said something, but he didn't hear it clearly.

El stared blankly for two seconds, gradually clearing away the inexplicable emotion that had arisen in his eyes.

He reverted to his original expressionless state.

He looked up at the huge and sacred angel sculpture. The angel's face was serene and peaceful, and just looking at it seemed to purify the soul.

El lowered his eyes again, standing quietly in front of the statue, just as he had always done in the temple.

...

The night was pitch black, the bright moon hung high in the sky, in the saintess's room.

Maggie's closed eyes suddenly began to spin rapidly, and within two or three seconds, she abruptly opened them and sat up abruptly from the bed.

"!"

Cold sweat slid down her forehead and dripped down her chin, but she didn't bother to wipe it away. An indescribable fear lingered in her heart.

She had another dream. Although she didn't remember what the dream was about, she was certain that she had been forcibly awakened.

It's as if something in this dream didn't welcome her and forcibly kicked her out.

The feeling of palpitations lingered in my body, and my heart was beating so fast that my limbs felt numb.

My mind was completely blank.

It took Maggie a long time to recover from that feeling.

Although she had some strange dreams before, and would wake up with headaches and discomfort, she had never felt this uncomfortable before.

At least let her sleep until dawn, so she doesn't wake up in the middle of the night, otherwise the second half of the night will be unbearable.

Does she need an exorcism?

Maggie fell into deep thought.

Then he began to doubt himself.

But which nightmare demon would dare to entangle her, who has made a contract with the Demon King?

Does he want to die, or does he just not want to work anymore?

Although Maggie made several guesses, she rejected them all one by one.

Since she couldn't sleep in the middle of the night, she decided to change into her saintly robes and go to the garden for some fresh air.

On this day, I couldn't sleep well, and I had some unpleasant things to do during the day.

She felt like she was going to die suddenly.

As Maggie walked down the corridor, looking at the angel reliefs carved on both sides, she felt a chill run down her spine, as if she had PTSD.

She instinctively quickened her pace, hurrying out of the corridor, not wanting to see anything related to angels.

But she didn't feel anything when she looked at these reliefs during the day. Could it be that she dreamed that angels were trying to murder her?

Maggie's thoughts wandered, and she found it increasingly reasonable. If it weren't for this reason, she wouldn't have developed a fear of these reliefs after only one afternoon.

Sure enough, the psychological trauma that El had caused her when he came to see her back then was too great.

Maggie thought with certainty.

As she pondered this, she walked into the garden. The temple's back garden was very quiet at night, with the occasional chirping of insects.

Maggie stood among the flowers, feeling the wind caress her face, and her mind finally calmed down.

Maybe it was just a nightmare; it's normal for her to be under so much pressure during the day.

Maggie was lost in thought when she heard rustling sounds coming from the other side of the garden. She looked over and saw Spur acting suspiciously, doing something she couldn't quite place.

He was the only one there; he didn't see his brother. It seems he had sneaked out without his brother's knowledge.

"?"

A huge question mark appeared above Maggie's head.

The bright red head stood out starkly against the dark garden.

This person is still squatting down. Does he think he's hiding well?

What's the difference between this and being an idiot?

While he was thinking, Sper had already found his way to Maggie's vicinity. Maggie was standing there quietly without moving, so Sper hadn't noticed her yet.

For some reason, Maggie suddenly felt a mischievous urge as she watched Spur approaching her.

Maggie quietly reached out and patted his shoulder.

Then she saw a bright red frog leaping high into the air, its eyes filled with terror as it looked at her.

"Good evening."

Maggie greeted Spur with a smile and great politeness.

Sper was frozen in shock, completely petrified, and it took him a long time to recover.
