Chapter 164 Harlan's character collapses, Maggie has mixed feelings.

Roy and the little ghost had been following Maggie the whole time. The moment the incident happened, they immediately flew through the crowd to the field and checked the pile of human figures.

They exchanged a glance and immediately caught up with Maggie, who seemed to be acting strangely.

"Don't get agitated, don't let anger cloud your judgment. That magician has been dead for at least two days. The one who's on stage is just an empty shell."

Roy looked at Maggie with fear in his eyes, while the little ghost calmly tried to persuade Maggie to calm down.

"So what?"

Maggie strode forward, asking in a calm tone, but both elemental spirits knew this was the calm before the storm; they had never seen Maggie so terrifying before.

During the magic competition she was in charge of, she deliberately used puppets in the first match, and after winning, she immediately removed the puppet strings, creating chaos through the deaths of the participants.

This goes beyond mere provocation; it's simply a perverse sense of humor unique to the undead.

"I was wrong. I shouldn't have had any expectations of the dead."

Maggie muttered to herself, her eyes filled with gloom.

Comics and reality are ultimately different. No matter how bad Ivy is portrayed in comics, she doesn't really feel it. She thinks that as long as there is communication, conditions can be negotiated.

But she forgot that what the little ghost said was the truth: the dead are untrustworthy and cruel.

They seem to be able to communicate only because of their obsessions and memories from their previous lives; in reality, they harbor malice towards all living beings and only want all living beings to die.

Instinct is instinct, just like the human need to breathe; it cannot be overcome.

I should have summoned the Demon King back then and taken care of Ivy as well. I shouldn't have had any wishful thinking.

She felt that she could handle the undead teleportation array without relying on the Demon King's power.

She's too confident.

Maggie's mind was uncontrollably replaying her previous mistakes, her fingertips clenched until they turned white, as she frantically searched through comics for ways to deal with Ivy.

He so desperately wanted to be resurrected, yet he still recklessly took other people's lives. Maggie was determined to make him taste the bitterness of despair.

"This isn't your fault..."

Just as Roy was about to comfort Maggie, he saw Maggie stop in front of a door. It turned out that they had unknowingly walked back to the temple, and this place should be the Paladin Commander's room.

"Harlen, I need to talk to you."

Maggie tried to keep her tone calm, raising her voice slightly as she spoke towards the door.

But after she finished speaking, she suddenly realized that, perhaps because she was in a bad mood, she had actually called him by his last name.

Before she could retract her thoughts, the door opened in front of her, and Harlan, dressed in casual clothes, stood inside, his eyes showing a hint of surprise, as if he hadn't expected Maggie to come looking for him.

Today was supposed to be Harlen's day off, and she was just about to go out when Maggie showed up at the door.

Harlan bent down slightly, one arm resting on the door frame, his tall frame enveloping Maggie, his blonde hair falling down his forehead, his azure eyes seemingly filled with concern.

Only at this close distance can I make eye contact with Maggie and clearly see her expression.

"Your Highness seems to be in a bad mood. Is there anything I can do for you?"

His tone was gentle, and his mild manner somewhat suppressed Maggie's anger, but the tone of his voice when he spoke was by no means pleasant.

"I need to deal with a very special undead, and I need your help."

Maggie knew she shouldn't ask for help like that, but she was too hot-tempered to change her attitude for the time being, and besides, she would offer a generous reward.

The Temple of Light is undoubtedly the best at dealing with the undead, and also at tormenting them.

Since the higher-ups in the temple cannot directly deal with Ivy, the only option is to use a roundabout tactic, forcing them to execute the undead in full view of everyone.

Ivy has ulterior motives towards her and will definitely take the bait.

However, Harlan's help was indispensable in this process.

"Hmm? Which blind undead has offended my Holy Maiden?"

Harlan glanced at Maggie's face, chuckled, seemingly not finding it a difficult problem, and reached out to touch Maggie, who turned her head to avoid him.

His hand paused in mid-air, then he casually withdrew it.

"Puppeteer Ivy, I want him utterly annihilated!"

Maggie had no interest in playing his boring games; her eyes were filled with murderous intent.

She couldn't figure out Harlan's thoughts, but Ivy was a big name, and Harlan couldn't have been unaware of her. He certainly wouldn't have been so dismissive as he had been just now.

Harlan was either startled by Ivy's name or by Maggie's undisguised killing intent. His handsome brows furrowed slightly, and after a long while, he sighed helplessly.

"Your Highness, you have given me quite a surprise."

He carefully scanned Maggie's face, seemingly trying to glean something from her expression, but Maggie's face was full of anger, and he couldn't find any useful information.

"Although I hate to admit it, I can't handle Ivy."

Harun is not the type to stubbornly insist on her abilities; she readily admits her shortcomings.

“I know, but you have the Pope’s approval now, haven’t you?”

Maggie vaguely remembered that the Abyss Soul Stone was taken by Harun. According to the plot, he should now hand the treasure over to the Pope and soon become the Pope's direct subordinate from the Paladin Commander.

This is why Maggie found it inexplicable when Harlan said he would be loyal to her last time.

"..."

To everyone's surprise, after she finished speaking, Harlan just stared at her in silence, which made Maggie feel very strange.

She could only endure Harlen's bewildered gaze, as if he were looking at a heartless man, and force herself to add another sentence.

"The Cemetery of the Dead, the Soulstone of the Abyss—do I really need to spell out what the Pope needs?"

Upon hearing Maggie's words, Harlan straightened up for some reason, rubbed his temples with his long fingers, and sounded troubled.

“Your Highness, you are always like this, treating my words as jokes and never taking them seriously.”

His seemingly random remark left Maggie completely bewildered, and now she could only look up at him.

"I am your paladin. Even the Pope is not as important as you. Please don't say such things next time, or I will be hurt too."

Harlan looked down at her, his eyes filled with hurt, and his thin lips uttered words that sounded like a vow, instantly causing Maggie's brain to shut down again.

"?"

Maggie's face was blank, and question marks kept appearing on her head. She felt as if the script in her hand had suddenly changed.

As a paladin, Harlan's words were utterly treasonous and seemed completely out of character for him, severely contradicting Maggie's impression of Harlan's character.

"However, the fact that you think of coming to me first when you're in trouble makes me a little less upset."

Harlan pondered for a moment, then continued.
